Observations:

The Zeitcoin "community" is under 50 people

Current wallet sucks as it's so old and out of date I can't compile it as some of the dependencies aren't even available.

After not running a wallet for 4 1/2 months it seems impossible to update my node. (Snapshot is 53 days old)

The current wallet is pig on resources.

Overall lack of interest in the project.


I guess Zeit gives me a nostalgic feeling that hearken back to my early days crypto, so I still have an interest in it. I remember owning Dogecoin Dark when it got delisted from bittrex. I dumped, then a year 1/2 later it's huge! rebranded as Verge, I missed out. So I thought to myself why dump any "shit coins" that I have less then $100 of? I have backed up wallets of junk that I just leave on USB. At this point I don't care about them.
However for some reason I have tried to keep my zeitcoin wallet up to date. Perhaps it's the Idea of the "Zeit Knights" Huge whales with big bags may work together to create an eco-system.

I would like see what potential Zeit has to grow... this can only be measured by participation of the network.

The network being it's community.

Has anyone considered taking a snapshot of the UTXO set then recreating a new zeitcoin wallet?

Other then sitting and waiting for newcomers to buy old bags is there any other game plan?

How about a change to a masternode? Like terracoin did awhile back. Perhaps one that offers a higher rate of interest to the zeit knights? Like 1% for holding 100 million.

Any thoughts from anyone else?

Should we being doing something different?


Special request, I have an older Linux computer in an industrial building that I could use to run a full node and help the network, I can't seem to compile the binaries. Is there a Linux/Ubuntu binary available anywhere?

Also a newer snapshot?

Don't be hard on they guy Lol. It's seems at the moment other then speculation the only thing you spend zeitcoins IS other tokens. I am of the view that anyone accepting zeitcoin for any product or service is okay.

This coin has so much potential, it has been a precursor in many ways (POW ...POS ... ) and went through all those crisis since more than 5 years now.
I was part of the early miners and i'm still here, perhaps not like some of the knights would like me to be, but i still have faith in this coin .
We started to have some visibilty last year, with the website/facebook page/twitter. For some obvious reason, big whales killed the exchange.
Coin is still alive but we need to bring back a bit more transactions/day, volume will probably follow

During stacking phase memory usage is around 2.6 GB,

On Ubuntu 18.04 I'm getting memory usage of around 2.4 GB, but I'm currently in sync mode. I'll check again when I'll catch up with block height and start staking.

Your final statement seems to be correct, a bit of both I guess. But I look at it as even bad news is good as people are discovering Zeit even if it's looking into making a quick buck.
As long as it gets people talking. Having working nodes is always good too.
