No plans for MM ? I am dying here. Thanks !

Can you at least confirm you are working on it or at least tell us it will never be implemented etc.

Yeah Ars with MM would be an awesome pool.

Just wanted to let the OP know that I get this error when looking at the my_stats.php page:

Code:
Warning: mysql_data_seek(): Offset 0 is invalid for MySQL result index 26 (or the query data is unbuffered) in /var/www/my_stats.php on line 230

All are welcome and all help
Thanks.  Right now I'm CPU mining with ufasoft as a learning exercise.  I'll have to get a video card if I want to take this seriously. Smiley    I did find 3 shares though in the first 15 min. mining.

Joined this pool with a painfully slow hash rate.  Here's to hoping I'll get lucky.

I wish I had three GPU's or even the money for them, lol. I have over the years thought of using linux but never done so. My son uses it for some things and he has tried to get me to switch but I like Windows Xp too much. It was the first windows I ever thought was any good, Before that I had an A1200 for years and only got a PC for the kids when they were younger. I am planning on upgrading when I have the money though that isn't easy when your on minimum wage.

As I said I was mining at Slush's pool until I notice problems after he introduce merged mining. At first only those that wish to do so was adding their hash rate to merged but then he announced that everyones hash rate would be contributing to merged mining and at this point I began to have issues when connected to mine at his site. I would have sudden system failures (bsod), internet connection problems that only happened when mining, and other minor problems that all vanished when I moved. So through my observations I would say it was due to the merged mining. As to the claim that Slush's pool lost people to goig merged well I was one so there is my proof and where there is one as the say goes, there are always others.

You do understand that your miner has no idea it is even merged mining.

non-merged mining:
The pool sends you a block header.   You add in the nonce and hash it.  It is just numbers.  The pool gives you some numbers and you hash them.  When you find shares or solutions you tell the server.  The server keeps sending you new numbers to hash.

Looking at the block header it is impossible for you or the miner to even tell if it is a merged block or not.

If you are getting a BSOD in relation to your ATI drivers, it's because you have CCC installed and more than 3 GPUs. This is a known problem that they have done nothing about and it comes up out of the 'blue'! Pull a card, uninstall CCC and it should work just fine

As I understand computers any error in code can cause problems for the user and unexpected happening. Over the year I seen a few. From games causing system freezes to graphics fragmenting because of drivers not playing nice. Hashing is just another piece of software. Adding new code to can, just like all software, cause problems for some users. After all no two PC are the same if built by the user as mine is. Maybe it is the line or two of code that is added that just doesn't like my system setup. But I also noticed bitcoin mining seemed slower. Yes that could be down to the difficulty level or several other things. Difficulty though isn't as high as it was a few weeks ago and though Slush's pool was down due to a DDOS I had the feeling that things were slower overall mining bitcoins. Add that to my own downtime due to the problems I was suffering from which seems to have disappeared coming over to here. It may just be me as I said but it is how I see it. Smiley

this sounds pretty strange. bulanula is right -- merged mining should NOT create BSODs at your end. the implementation of merged mining is done completely at the server (slush's) end, nothing has changed at your end. your bitcoin miner is still mining only for bitcoin. the additional namecoin calculations are done at slush's end, not your's. so in theory your pc should not see any change whatsoever in terms of it own mining activities.

in theory...

i have worked with windows long enough to know that it can suffer from errors that apparently have absolutely no goddam relation with what you are doing. it can fail in completely mysterious ways that will leave even the most experienced users scratching their heads. i have seen this from 3.1 to the latest and greatest 7. so even though there should not be ANY reason between slush's merged mining implementation and your BSODs, with windows you just never know...

my suggestion is just switch to linux (dual-boot ubuntu 10.4 LTS with your current windows) and use it for mining. it takes some work, but totally worth it in terms of stability and reduction of stales/rejections.

BurningToad,

Any plans to implement merged mining ? If you did then IMHO this really would be the best ever pool. Thank you !

ATM that is eligius but NMC registrations are closed Sad

really i second that. the stats at ARS are fantastic, and there is no restriction on withdrawal like eligius' 0.67.. btc minimum balance (or one week of inactivity). i will definitely switch to ARS as soon as they implement merged mining.

I'm not going crazy just reporting my experiences when I encountered merged mining before coming over here. Those extra bits of hashing caused me problems. It may not be the same for everyone but it was my experience. I also know at least one other posted their concerns on Slush's thread and was shot down for dissenting as I am now it feels. You may not agree with me but I am only sharing my opinion. People can take it as they see it. But I for one would move to another pool if merged mining was forced on the whole pool as happened over at Slush's pool or I noticed that it was causing a slow down in bitcoin mining if there were was still a opt out for those of not wishing to get in on the early stages of namecoins.

LOL. You do not understand how merged mining works my friend. The BTC block is all the same just the coinbase is bigger to include the Namecoin POW. Some namecoind patches etc. and that is basically it ( I am not a MM expert so don't quote me ). No way it can cause internet or BSOD problems. That is a Windows feature  Wink  Cheesy ! Next in Windows 8 : interactive colored BSOD screens !

Merged mining would not cause BSOD or internet connection problems.  All it does is add in a few more transactions to hash.  Please learn how it works before you start going all crazy.

Slush'e pool at one time was over 2400GH/s now it is down to 1200GH/s half what it was. Yes not all of that is due to him going merged but it is an added factor.

None of it is. At one time the total hashrate was about 15 Thash, now it's a little over 8.6. Do the math.

I don't agree that it is a win win. When Slush's pool started merged mining I found I had problems that is why I came over here to mine. I also notice BTC mining seemed slower. Though those doing the merged mining did get the bonus of extra earnings the rest of us lost out. Also many others like myself left Slush's pool because of it which affects the over all speed of the pool. Slush'e pool at one time was over 2400GH/s now it is down to 1200GH/s half what it was. Please explain. Merged mining should only bring more users not less. Only explanation I can think of is people switching off their rigs because this is far from being profitable right now even with MM.
