ETH baby!
Ethereum has more room to grow, imo at this point. Bitcoin has serious scaling and fee issues it needs to deal with.

If Ethereum goes anywhere close to succesfully implementing any of the impactful upgrades to their network as they have pending for 2018(Casper,plasma etc) then 1k per ETH seems VASTLY undervalued. I would say if such thing happens then I wouldnt be suprised to see ETH grab the #1 position from BTC. Compare that to BTC and I just dont see how it can outpace BTC's growth (not saying it wont grow at all ofcourse).
even if you take into account the huge drop in Bitcoin to date, even with these indicators, eth can not yet compare. But this is about the price, but as for the functional, the etherium can have advanced positions in the future.
To be honest, this is a difficult choice for me, as I like the ether and bitcoin, I would have chosen both options if there was such an opportunity

would have preferred 1 bitcoin since he would quickly achieve his price mark than the ether and at a cost he is much higher
Ethereum has much more potential for a price increase. It's value is much lower than bitcoin.

Well, btc is more valuable (though eth is valuable too), but eth can give more rise, I think
ETH is better from another point of view . But, if I was told to choose 10 Eth or 1 BTC. My answer is 1 BTC. Now, BTC is much more valuable
Split your investments 50:50 or 30:70 in favor of Bitcoin. Also after the fork Bitcoin on the main chain might go down considerably in price so you could buy then and net more profit.
better if he do this advice wayback when this post was made.whe both coins having their lowest prices.and this is the same time that i wish i bought those coins so i wont have this regrets of not riding the train.anyway hope that the 70/30 in favor of bitcoin advice is what he did
In today's trading, having 10ETH is more profitable. Because, ETH in this year i believe will experience a higher value increase again.
I would prefer to hold every bit of them. I trust both of these coins ethereum and bitcoin.
Perhaps Ethereum will soon be valued. But now the king is Bitcoin. And ethereum is now only prince. We don't know when the king will give its place. But I know that when come that day we should be with the prince. Therefore, when investing, take care to keep both of them in your wallet. Just choosing one isnt right for me. Buy bitcoin with half your money, buy ethereum with half your money. I think this is the most correct one.
Both of them can make you a rich man in a few years. So, you should buy 5 ETH and 0.5 BTC.
it is a difficult question because I like investing in both, but because I have to choose then I will choose to invest in ethereum, maybe because the price is cheaper then I believe the opportunity to get more profit than by investing in bitcoin

What? 1 bitcoin is more bigger than 10 Ethereum. 1 ethereum = 0.09 btc, 10 ETH = 0.9 BTC so 1 bitcoin is bigger than 10 eth. If i must choose, i prefer 1 bitcoin than 10 ethereum, because it's more worth it and if i had money, i will invest my money in 1 bitcoin.

With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow? Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.

I think 5 years is too long to hold without checking the price. I think we need to check the price run several time in one month.
Anyway, i will choose etherium rather than bitcoin because the price of etherium is way cheaper.
i would go for 10 ETH as the usability is higher and simply the fees are lesser than bitcoin to move them around, it's good time for ETH though considering the recent crash and bitcoin are generally for long term hold which doesn't profit your 3000$ much, you wouldn't expect another 1000% growth on bitcoin in the recent times when things are so overpriced now.
I would probably choose 10 ETH as for me they look better than bitcoin but who knows what can happen in time
