Finally we have started to see Kyrie Irving playing for Nets in home games as well. This is great news to be honest because this will help Nets become stronger than before again. However they lost their game last night against Hornets too. It was a loss by a 110-119 final score. Irving got a double-double by 16 pts and 11 ast. KD was the most scorer of his team by 27 pts. And for Hornets, Lamelo Ball did a great work and had the biggest role in their win by 33 pts.

I mean yeah he scored 16 points but needed like 50 shots to get there.  Those are just empty stats.  He will even say he pretty much lost that game for them with the way he was shooting.  Tough as a coach because you don't want to tell him to pump the breaks because he will get streaky and still win a game for you on his off nights.  He needs to play better especially down the stretch here.

I feel like Lakers could just drop the towel at this point. There is no need for them to even try anymore, just be openly talk about who would be in the trading block and what you are looking for so that other teams could get ready for it.

It is not allowed to approach upcoming FA as we all know, but teams do it anyway, but at the end of the day we should not be really shocked to see trading talks, and upcoming FA talks and even waived players for the off-season talks. All of that could be done right now and that should either lit fire to Lakers, or just let them get worse and at this point that's not really that much important at all.

Agreed.

I don't think that they have a chance of even making in the play-in tournament at this point, by the rate that they are playing.

Even if they do make it in, they probably won't last until the Playoffs. There is no desire for anyone on the team to continue, and LeBron is just stat-padding his way to 30+ meaningless points on a bad team each night to get his scoring title & all time scoring leader.

It's wild to think that Lakers were the favorites to come out of the West at the start of the season.

Btw he’s averaging 27.7 points with 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds. Those are very very solid numbers from a player in his weird situation.

That's his normal stats, that's why he is a superstar, but we are looking for his consistency in the game because they need that consistency in the play-in tournament to advance to the playoffs. Their ranking is not good as well, a supposed to be the number 1 team, now ranked number 9 and has to play the play-in tournament just to qualify the playoffs.

They are ranked number 9 now but they are still the favorite to win the ECF if I'm not mistaken.
Durant and Irving are going to be beast in the playoffs, plus, Simmons would be playing soon, it will only make the Nets a good team, so expect them to win.

I can somehow agree to that but there is a big "IF" for than to finally happen for the Nets this year.
And that big IF is, can they keep healthy for the rest of the playoff run?
Either Kyrie or Durant gets injured in the playoffs, and they will have a huge winning rate reduction.

Let's not think about that injury, instead, let's hope that all teams will have a healthy roster so we will see an entertaining playoff. Last year was a bad year for the Nets because Kyrie got injured and Harden wasn't 100%, now hopefully they'll stay healthy with a  new teammate which is Simmons.

Quote
If the Nets is going to play with everyone healthy, I can say the chance is great, and they can beat anyone in the East with more than 50% win rate in every series.

Of course, more than 50% chance, probably 60% because Bucks the defending champion is very underrated.

Yes, Kyrie Irving just couldn't get his rhythm at all. I also agree that this is not the Kyrie Irving we know and it will not be like this always, naturally. I think he proved himself as a superstar and a solid performer who brings good numbers and effective performances. Maybe the first game in Brooklyn made him more tense. These things just happen. As you say, he really should drive inside more. That is one of his key moves.

I watched the game last night. Except for a few points in the last quarter, Kyrie missed too many shots that it was the biggest factor in losing the game. Durant couldn't shoot with a high percentage either. Drummond fought alone under the rim. Brooklyn lost a very important game. Perhaps it will decide the fate of the Playoff tree in the east.
It's also worth mentioning how LaMelo Ball fought. He pushes an average team like the Hornets into the playoffs.

Rough game for the Lakers yesterday. LeBron put up big numbers but they got destroyed in the second half to barely lose the game… Afterwards LeBron said that he hurt his ankle and had no explosiveness in the second half. It showed… Now we see how this will effect their playoff run as the season dwindles down to a close. Not what they needed as Anthony Davis seems to be finally ready to return to team activities… Hopefully he’s feeling better today. This could be a bust year for the Lakeshow.
Lakers also couldn't prevent Pelicans to score 41 points in the 3rd quarter. At the half time, they were up 20 points, 69 - 49. And also Lakers scored only 14 points in the 4th quarter. That is a really really tough lose. Lebron is a beast, leading the league in scoring (30.1  pts as of now). But he definitely need more support from his teammates, scoring-wise. Only two other players from Lakers scored double digits. They desperately need a strong and healthy Anthony Davis. He cannot come fast enough.

Yes, they are one of the most favorite team to win in the ECF few months ago, but their situation have changed a bit now after the trade. Hopefully they can still dominate other teams because from their position now, a play-in tournament is almost inevitable for the team. Also, Simmons? That man still remains a mystery and hopefully he won't be a liability if he play soon.

Knicks winning close games now at the end of the season.  So frustrating.  I've heard of some knick fans wanting them to lose to get a better draft pick.  That time to tank for a better draft spot is over. I'd rather them win every game from here on out even if they don't make the playoffs.  Losing is contagious just like winning is.  At some point these kids have to learn how to win.  And carry that into the next season.  Another year wasted smh Sad

They have history that they choke on playoffs and maybe they need to look at that to ease the tension if they already on that series, they need to be relax and learn from their past mistake to play more better as a team then win each of their games until they reach to finals. But I doubt it will happen also I believe if they face Nets for sure they are in trouble since this team became more competitive as Durant and Irving will be in playoffs mode then do more better performance.
That's "if" they do better in the tournament first.
Hornets won twice already and that's like they are saying they should not be messed with. But before that, Atlanta Hawks will be their opponent if they end up at number 9.
Trae has goals and he showed it during the game versus the Warriors. With how the Nets are unable to reach a good chemistry they will be no match for teams like Hawks, Hornets, and Cavs. Their game today showed how weak they are when Durant and Irving are not in their average FG percentage.
If I do see changes in their next games then yes, I may also end up betting for the underdog Nets if they reach the scenario of playing with the top of the East.

Beasts yes, will they get the job done though? I'm not too sure. With the bounce back from the Celtics since January they are now first in the eastern conference. And over 7 games I think Joel and the sixers will more than surprise the nets. Now that new york state is changing its rules Irving will be allowed to play home games. East is looking good. No cake walk at all.

The Celtics are surprising so far, but we know that Celtics is not that good in the playoffs. If Celtics will face the Nets in the 1st round, then I think I would go with the underdog and that is the Nets. As for the betting odds on the NBA futures, the favorites to win the NBA Finals is the Suns, followed by the Nets.

Anyone here got burn on there Nets bet against Hornets, I never thought they will lose to Hornets with 9 points behind while the overall performance of Durant and Irving is good. I really don't understand what's the problem on this match besides LaMelo Ball is on fire. I don't watch the game but it really hurt to see that my supposed to be sure bet is the only one that lose in my todays bet on NBA. There's a lot of upset game today so I dodge many bullet by sticking on to 3 bets today with Mavs and Suns.

Charlotte Hornets had a solid win against Nets while Kyrie Irving made his home court debut. But Irving couldn't perform as expected by most of the people. I really like how Lamelo performed but he cannot perform like this every night, otherwise he would be a superstar. He is a really promising young player though, of course. His 9 assists and 7 rebounds also are very important in an important game like this. But how many games he can hit 7 threes, that is of course highly debatable. Nevertheless, I really like Hornets this year. They are above .5 in the standings and currently 8th in the east. I feel like they can surprise quite a lot of people in the playoffs.
That's without Hayward, so yes, they are doing pretty well.
I watched the whole game and all I could see is Kyrie's missing shot after shot. That's not like him. Something might be bothering him because I doubt it will be because he lost his touch. Durant was infected with the off-night problem and that means trouble. All I was screaming to the TV was for Kyrie to attack the basket. Get his rhythm. Compose himself first using freethrows and find the perfect range which he did but it's too late. Most of his misses were short shots and it can be fixed during game time.
I bet they got comfortable after the blowout win against the Heat.

The poll result so far.

Quote
West 9-10 seed
Pelicans - Lakers   - 8 (88.9%)
Pelicans - Spurs   - 1 (11.1%)
Lakers - Spurs   - 0 (0%)
Total Voters: 9

I am the only one who voted for the Spurs-Pelicans to take the last 2 slots in the play-in. I have a feeling that Lakers would continue to struggle and the Spurs will make a surprise by making it to the play-in tournament.

You are the only one who believed that it will happen but mate you are right, it could possibly happen. Lakers out in the play-in, that's so embarrassing and it's not good for the legacy of Lebron, I think Kobe had a superteam before and they struggle, but missing the playoffs, that's worst.
