Maybe they really need to hire him as Harris their 3 point sharpshooter was not sharp during the playoffs.

Since 3 point shooting is the game now in the NBA, they need to also improve their 3 point shooting, I know the Nets are already good 3 point shooting but they need some consistency especially in a high intense game like the playoffs where defense is very tight.
Good point and that might be the reason for seeking him as a development coach. Durant might not need it but if they want to be as a big of a threat they need to get more options for outside shooting like Harris. He was good at season but went down at the playoffs and I think he was also rattled by the pressure.

Leonard is staying with the LA Clippers.

NBA free agency 2021: Kawhi Leonard agrees to four-year, $176.3 million contract with Clippers

With this news, I still consider the LA Clippers to be one of the favorites to win the NBA Championship next season.
I think they just need to manage the minutes of Leonard like what Raptors did when during his time there, the "load management" is very helpful.
Yes, good news indeed. NBA needs some balance, we don't want all the stars gathering in just one team. I saw a lot of rumors before he signed with the Clippers again that he was going to GSW in exchange for Wiseman and Wiggins. I have to start unfollowing those pages, not helping for an accurate analysis.

That's a big contract!
According to reports from Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the fourth year would be activated via player option.
With this choice, Leonard returns to the roster of coach Lue with the aim of fighting for the NBA title once again. First, however, there is the need to overcome the serious knee problem he suffered during the last Playoffs, for which he risks missing part of next season, if not all of it.

Maybe he is next to Curry this season? Curry has the biggest contract and I don't think we will see a player with a bigger contract that him this season.
Here's his biggest contract, https://www.bosshunting.com.au/sport/nba/steph-curry-contract-extension/

Quote
**All $$$ in USD

$215 million – four years
$53.75 million – per season
$655,488 – per game
$13,656 – per minute of NBA game

Damn... $13,656 per minute? Roll Eyes

How about that?

As expected, we all know he will stay but just trying to maximize his salary and he was successful in doing that.
per report, his salary last season was 39.3 million USD, https://www.spotrac.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/kawhi-leonard-8066/

now his salary will be at least $44 million per year. That's huge.

Korver is a good backup for Harris, if Harris will struggle again, he can of course help because he also has a lot of playoffs experience already. What I'm seeing is that the nets are really competing with the Lakers in getting veterans at a minimum salary, of course, this also gives an opportunity to the veterans to have their championship in their career.

The Nets will sign Korver, not as part of the roster, but as a player development assistant coach. Try to refer to the discussion above.

But even for let's say he signed as a player, there's no such thing as a competition between teams signing veterans. That's weird. Cheesy

The Nets have hired ex-NBA sharpshooter Kyle Korver as a player development assistant coach.

I read that Kyle Korver is joining the Nets and I thought to myself that this must be the beginning of them loading up on good veterans for cheap to fill out their roster.

I just have to say that all veterans that Nets acquired are now inconsistent e.g DJ, Blake, etc, and have no bearing with me honestly if they will acquire Kyle Korver as he still has that shooting stroke. But it turned out not like a player as part of the roster but as a development coach. He might be a good help to it to improve more the Nets shooting, especially since the team has a good shooting percentage last season, either in the perimeter and rainbow area.
I thought he was signed as a player as I read Og's post. Thanks for stretching the details.
I think that summarizes his career as a player. It's short for "Yes, I retired as a player."  Grin
40 years of age? Wow. I never knew that. He doesn't really look that old for me. The last time he played was for the Bucks 2019-2020. I hope they signed him as a veteran just for a championship ring.
Well, a new career for him and I wish this will boost the shooting development of the Nets.

Still a good way to earn as a shooting/development coach with the Nets. We all know that Korver during his prime is what on the hottest streak shooter.

Maybe he can still improve Joe Harris? what you guys think? Joe is one of the top shooters we have so with the veteran Korver working on him he might help him out even more as a spot shooter.

and sure Durant has a long contract as well, so they are intact this season, no one would sign with other team as they simply can't.

Without searching elsewhere, if I remember correctly, Durant's contract with the Nets is 4 years.

Nets gambled a 1 year for this as Durant didn't play the whole season on his first year with the team. They signed Durant while injured. In the 3rd year of the contract, Durant has a player option which basically means, he can decide to switch teams. That's how risky the gamble Nets did for the sake of rebuilding.

It's now on Durant's 3rd season with the Nets but since no rumor about him using his player option, then we can conclude that Durant will finish his term in the Nets.

No Durant isn't going to leave that legacy at the Nets.  He will want a full healthy season there and a deep run.  These guys care about their legacies as much as they do the game.  1st year injured second year in and out with injuries, team didn't make it far.  Not how he wants his legacy in new York to end.

Yeah I hear you and most of all Kevin Durant cares about his legacy big time.  He is one of those professional sports players who actually looks at his social media a whole lot and comments on haters and what not.  He has felt under appreciated his entire career so yeah he want's his legacy to keep going on a big way.  I mean just look at the Olympics.. I really thing he only played, for his 3rd time, because he knew he'd be the best player in the Olympics and it would only heighten his legacy.  IMHO anyhow.

Agree and it makes sense. Leaving Nets and using his supposed player option will result in mass criticism knowing Nets gave their all to form their current roster and giving ups a possible and some valuable future Round 1 picks.

Kevin Durant will definitely try to make a good run in the Nets, or if possible a championship, until the contract expires. Then that's the time he can freely choose teams without backlash from the fans especially the Nets fans.

Let’s see what happens but I really believe that one of the three may not sign for now, may extend next season, but maybe not now.
I doubt that, this big 3 are capable of winning a championship, before the playoffs, they had already been playing beautiful basketball and they have the chemistry that we are not expecting, it's only the injury problem that causes the failure of the team, Harden and Irving are playing well based on my observation.

Harden's contract is until 2023 as he signed a 4 year deal with Houston and got traded to Nets.
Also Irving had a 4 year deal with the nets.

Yeah you are right I don't know the terms but Nets basically ate one year while KD was nursing his Achilles.  Pretty sure its a 4-5 year deal so this team has a coue years and once one leaves they can plug another in.  Nets are going to be good for a couple years then they will be completely gutted.  That's how these all or nothing deals work.

Nice one, nothing to worry about for Nets fans as they will stay this year and another try for them to win the championship. they are currently the favorites to win one, so we should trust them to be able to deliver that to us. Coaches just need to manage their minutes effectively as their health is very important in the playoffs, Irving should at least play in the playoffs and finish with a good run.

I think the only trouble with Irving and Harden is that, Harden played in a team where he was the leader at all times and he had to carry his team for nearly half of his career, even more, so he is tired of carrying a team and he just wants to ease his way into championship but also do not want to make it too obvious, like he can't just take the minimum and go to Lakers, that would be silly.

However Nets really need him, considering the injury problems all season last year, they really need him, which makes him question why the hell did he bother then, he could have kept carrying Houston anyway. About Irving it is a bit different, dude is a weird dude, like earth is flat type of weird dude, believes in it or not even the discussion is weird, so I really doubt he would be easy to handle on a contract negotiation. Let’s see what happens but I really believe that one of the three may not sign for now, may extend next season, but maybe not now.

Yeah Irving definitely a strange dude but is nasty when in top form can't be stopped.  Not afraid of anyone and really believes he can single handedly win a ship.  As long as Durant just head nods and knows he is the one that is the critical piece and comes up huge in big time positions they will be fine.  There will be games Irving will flat win all by himself.  His creativity is off the charts.  And Harden is Harden terrifies defenses because they are afraid of fouling him lol.
