What you should realize is that in football there has been many cases of covid and that resulted with players missing games, in a 11 person game it wasn't really that big of a deal, sure when Ronaldo misses that is hard for Juventus but unless your superstar misses games, it is not that big of a deal. Whereas in basketball it is 5 guys playing and if Lebron misses a game for example, that is going to make things very difficult for Lakers or if AD misses that is a huge change too.
This year will be decided a bit on who will be the best in shape by the year ends, if a team has a lot of covid cases, it is going to be harder, and if a team doesn't have any, that is going to make things easier. I think Lakers will win unless they have some covid cases or injuries, without any issues like that, they should be best contender again.
A team who wants to win will always consider making themselves covid-19 free all the time. The fact that they allow this kind of set up, I believe they are already seeing that the vaccine is available and they will start with their players and people inside the venue to ensure the success of the league.
It's been a normal scenario already just like other sports, so I believe even we are still in the pandemic, things is under control and the NBA organization already had plans on the continuity of the league under a worst case scenario.
