Knicks have been terribly run since 2000, they did have that lucky finals run as the 8th seed in 1999 but ended up losing to the Sours. That whole ordeal with Isiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury was terrible, they were threatening to bring up dirt on each other. The carmelo era which was a total letdown, the Jeremy Lin saga that brought them more hype but they didn't get much out of it. Phil Jackson didn't do much except command a big salary for his "championship experience". Most fans want Dolan to sell the team already and let someone else run it.

The last 2 were add ins to make the trade work. Dennis smith is a nice young piece but what you are forgetting about is the first round draft picks from dallas as well. Hopefully dallas sucks and those draft picks end up at least in the lottery. And it wasnt that the knicks "wanted" to do this, Porzingus expressed he wanted to leave so he would have walked in free agency and knicks would have gotten nothing for him. Not only that I think the knicks were reluctant to give a max contract to a guy who just blew out his acl, not exactly an easy injury to get over as a big man

Even if Porzingis wants something to happen he cannot have the ace to make it happen.
Dallas just have the opportunity and grabbed it.
But now, who have the upperhand?

Sure porzingis did have the power to leave. His contract was coming up and the knicks cant or couldnt block him leaving in free agency, he is free to sign with any team he wanted once his contract was up. In this case at least the knicks recouped some draft picks, they knew kristaps was not resigning with the knicks. I dont think you get that part

They might be done with the experiment on Porzingis, and they want to try another experiment.

With how the management treat him, I think Porzingis deserves to play in another team, but this player is not extraordinary like Dirk, and the stars that have won championship already. I think him being in the Dallas Mavericks will make him more valuable as he already have Luka who can also generate points for the team, and we have to remember that these guys are still young, there's still more years ahead for them to improve in the NBA.

Dallas has a great chance also of getting into the playoffs in the season to come.

I also concerned if what happened to this team it was anticipated that after allowing Porzingris to be traded they will acquire a well known stars to be build with their new young guns, if they take someone who can lift them up this season might also be interesting for them, still a better chance since they are in the east and most of those superstars from the west are going to compete.

But it's the management decision's so let see if how they will perform this season.

I was a actually one of the fans that did not want those 2. KD coming off a bad injury likely wont play for awhile and I just dont like kyrie's game. He seems to me to be more about himself than the team but maybe that's just perception. I'd rather the knicks build through the draft and get some of their own stars. Hopefully RJ will pan out and turn into a top player. We'll see.

The team is full of young players, I don't know if they can compete well this coming regular season, but at least since there's no star in the team, there's less pressure and they will play the based on how the coach design for them, which probably more on experimentation on the line up.

List of veterans I know in the team now,

Wayne Ellington, Taj Gibson and Marcus Morris. There are also familiar players but they are still new in the NBA like Julius Randle.

They have an easier journey because they are in the east, so if they will improve this season, they might be in the playoffs, but I'm sure if they are lucky to be in playoffs, they might do a first round exit with the young talent they have, regular season is pretty different compared the playoffs.

They finished last during the last season with only 17 wins and 65 losses, they are actually the worst in the NBA.

Changes in NBA Futures Odds:

Lakers and Clippers do now have @5.2 and @4.3 respectively. If I remember correctly, both teams are around @3 last month. Don't know what are the changes happen in Clippers but on Lakers, looks like it was because of Cousins injury.

And to my surprise, Milwaukee Bucks is also @5. Looks like there is a big expectation this year for this team. Does anyone know where to check NBA Futures for Conference champion? Want to check odds for Eastern Conference.

Knicks have to start with some young players because they are rebuilding, players with the same skills like Murray will fit with the team.
I believe we will see this improve in the long run because it's not possible, Celtics was once a bad team when they start rebuilding but had improve in the long run and until now they are still a team that has chance to win in the east. This team for example is better without a star, when Irving started playing, the chemistry has change and their performance level decrease as they love to share the ball, with a star whose offense are expected from him, it could change the system they built for years.
