And because of that idea by Coach Tim it will change the aura of the Philippines after that back to back to back three points shoot by Justin brownlee they lead by one in a seconds remaining which is pretty good enough to handle and then their defense are too tight so that china won't able to shoot the ball.  In addition all players work so hard for that gold medal and atlast after  60 years Philippines got that gold.
The decision of the coaching staff really matters because they are the one who are seeing the play of their opponent and it was a good decision for the whole team and for Brownlee. We are enjoying now the Gold despite of having a limited time to prepare for this, now for sure many will be threatened for us by next year as we fight for the Olympic qualification, I hope we get the chance there and have a more time to prepare with the same coaching staff.
That’s our next goal for now let’s wait for the homecoming of Gilas because for sure the party is not yet over.
Gilas did a great job and whatever they’ve said against Gilas it doesn’t matter anymore because we will bring home the Gold. We should also appreciate the players since the World Cup as they’ve also contribute to the practice of Gilas team and prepared the whole coaching staff for this moment.

The only issue is his shooting, but given the importance of defense, I think he's been a tremendous help for our success.

Yeah, that was pretty obvious, but we have to cut him some slack. I heard he was coming back from an injury, so maybe he was just getting back into his groove. But let's give credit where it's due – he was seriously impressive at the free-throw line. I can't even remember him missing a free throw in the finals.

Even during the game against China, if they hadn't substituted Fajardo with Kouame, China might have exploited Fajardo's slower defense. Kouame's presence made it tough for China to penetrate the paint, as our defense was ready to challenge them. Instead, they often had to resort to outside shots, which put them under a lot of pressure, especially with our quick guards closing out on them. That led to lower shooting percentages for them.

Just like how coach Tim bring Kevin in against china, now it was Kouame and Newsome that "magic hugot" from coach Tim really provide that surprise from the opposing team, expecting that Junemar will finish the game but it was Kouame who complete the job for the National, those defensive stop and both offensive and defensive rebounds all those hassle inside the paint are created.

I like how they trust each other whoever is inside the court. They all help JBL, anticipating that the heavy loads will be on the shoulder of JBL, but it was not since everyone is really doing their best..

The system brought by  Coach Tim is very effective and also his players who played are good enough and deserve for the gold medal. But the game between china and  Philippines are most memorable game as we all know and saw that from 20+ points behind Philippines manage to comeback and win by 1 point and by the help of Justin brownlee of course he is fit for the system of coach Tim as we all know that they build already their chemistry.

I remember one of the interview of coach Tim after winning the game against China, he said that he already losing hope but by looking at his players who still doing their jobs and still fighting to survive he said to JBL to take everything on his hands and with that go signal we've seen it all how the connection between the coach and main alpha, just like seeing Phil and MJ when they are running out of time, the ball will be on MJ's hands and he will take care of everything, same thing with how determine JBL to win and the rest is what we are enjoying now, winning the gold!

China got shock about seeing how the table turns in favor to gilas and they didn't even give a fouls on dying minutes of the game to recover and possible even getting a chance to tied up the game. But they let the game flow and Pilipinas take the win, if they China didn't get panic in that situation maybe they still have a chance to win but faith dictate all of it and declared as a victor that's why many Chinese fans got hurt with their lose since they think that they already win on that game.

That's why Gilas boys feel the anger of chinese fans and boo them on Jordan final showdown, but it doesn't give any effect since Gilas create a history and get the gold medal for their country. The 60+ years record they didn't get a gold in asian games has been erased out and this is a big win for them.

That's the impact of Kouame and yes Fajardo moves slower and he is not the player he used to be anymore, probably because of his age.
It's good that the coaching staff is fast to do some action especially on doing substitute. The defense of Gilas was present against Jordan, we're lucky too that the shooting of Jordan is not that high during their game, I thought Jordan will pull through during the 3rd quarter as they chase the lead of 13 from Gilas, we're still lucky we have the best players on the court who played their hearts out.

Yeah, that's a keen observation. JMF was definitely a mismatch against the bigs of China, especially if they were driving the ball in from the outside. He might have struggled to stop them, given that he isn't as athletic as some of the other bigs. But it's all part of the chess match, you know? Coach Tim saw our weakness there, which is why he brought in another big man, making the team more unpredictable. Gilas has a lot of threats from the outside, and one of the reasons we won was our accurate 3-point shooting, which is quite the opposite of Jordan, as they had a tough time in that department.

Our win agains China help’s us to gain the momentum and of course the confidence.
For sure, Jordan is underestimating us since they beat us already in the world cup and also in the Asian games.
We’re lucky that the shooting of Jordan is off and of course, the defense pattern of Gilas was superb. Despite of being guarded heavily, Brownlee still manage to be the top scorer of the game he deserved our big respect and also with the whole coaching staff.

I don't think they underestimate us. They've seen how we had a miraculous comeback to beat China, and I'm sure they're quite wary of us, especially because our defense is superb. It's a game of coaching; both teams have great players, but we have a genius coach who knows how to make the right adjustments. I see that Ange Kouame has been a significant asset to the team. They can't attack him in the paint since he's a quicker big man.
They really can't underestimate the Philippines, especially after what we did to China. Jordan might have thought that China was the team to beat, and lo and behold, it was the Philippines who beat them. You know, regardless of how many points a team wins by, it still counts as just one win. It's clear that a losing team will make adjustments to correct their mistakes, which is exactly what Tim Cone did for the Finals.

I've got to say, Jordan seems like good sports. It's a bit different from China and Iran, who didn't take the losses very well. And China's fans, they're really taking it personally. They just can't stand the Philippines winning, so when their team was out, they switched their support to Jordan.

The only issue is his shooting, but given the importance of defense, I think he's been a tremendous help for our success.

Congratulations, Gilas Pilipinas! We got the gold.

Such a great game by Gilas. It wasn't all about Brownlee tonight; it was a total team effort. What I like about Gilas here is the defense.

Coach Tim Cone, the best coach in Asia. I'm just so happy tonight. FINALLY!
As expected, they will focus on Brownlee and its good that team Gilas prepared for the game and played the whole game as a whole team. I applaud Newsome and Kuame for playing out of the box tonight and contributing for the big win for the Gilas, finally we’ve got the gold again. Well, as expected with the Chinese audience, they can’t move on and that’s why the boo’s are there against Brownlee and other players. It’s worth the risk, don’t forget to cash out.  Grin

The Philippines is celebrating this significant win. It wasn't as thrilling since the Philippines dictated the game, which is a stark contrast from their first meeting. I knew the Philippines would bounce back; I had trust in them, and they demonstrated their resilience. Hopefully, China will acknowledge that the Philippines is genuinely excellent in basketball and now holds the title as the king in Asia.

However, it appears that China still couldn't accept it; they even booed the Philippines and showed their support for Jordan.

China basketball fans pile in after latest loss to Gilas Pilipinas

A natural reaction as human, what do we expect after we upset them, but whatever they think about us there's nothing that they can do now, we already win the gold and prove our worth, either they will focus on their next national team and get that revenge or continue being upset as the new system that our nationals are using right now is far different from what we have before.

We are not aiming for the win and not only for experienced, not bashing anyone, but that's should be the focus.

We don't need experienced as we already have lots of experienced from that past managements. Congrats Gilas, thanks for bringing not just the gold but the pride that will now be written on the Asian history from this sport..

History has been made the gold medal drought for has been eliminated, we can see how those guys put a lot of effort to win this game and huge credit to Philippines and their coaching staff to win a championship this Asian games. But road to became a champion is not easy since we see Jordan gives a good fight but they came up short on the last quarter that's why they got defeated by Philippines. For sure now many basketball fans can understand that we need to change the coaching system of Philippines and not they see the result so for sure pinoy basketball fans is celebrating for this win. But I wonder if Chot Reyes is happy with this win since he might provably be compared to the new coach and fans will call him a total failure.  Grin

The advantage was on our side in that game because Gilas had already seen the type of play Jordan would bring. On Jordan's side, they didn't have to change much since their victory in their first meeting was quite impressive. It seemed like the Ginebra defense was employed in that game, and they might have been surprised by how physical we were. Since their three-point shots weren't falling, it disrupted their rhythm.

Indeed, we made history - it was the first time we reached the Finals and won the gold at the same time.

That was a fantastic game! The Philippines made a remarkable comeback, and they didn't let Jordan control the tempo. It was the suffocating defense of the Philippines that was the key to their success. I didn't keep track of how many points Brownlee contributed, but it was everyone on the floor who made the win possible. In contrast, Jordan relied heavily on RHJ, and their import obviously struggled significantly, possibly due to the early defensive pressure from the Philippines.

Huge credit also goes to Tim Cone. His strategic genius made it difficult for Jordan in a low-scoring game, especially when their three-point shooting wasn't working. I had a feeling the Philippines would secure the win, but I didn't celebrate prematurely since anything could have happened. Now that it's over, let's celebrate together!
