Gone are the days when people/fans will go out and support the All-Star games as they want to see high-level basketball as those are All-Stars playing but it would turn out to be a comedy of some sort, hardcore basketball fans won't buy that including me.
I'm concerned about the fans who saved a lot of money just to watch the all-star game, only to have it end in a boring match. While it's likely already passed, the organizers could revive the event. After all, the primary goal of the all-star game is to entertain the fans, and if they can't provide that, there's no point in continuing with the event.

ROS +10.5 @1.94 vs Hotshots

Though that chance of an upset is next to none but knowing how competitive coach Yeng Guiao, i think this game will not be a blow-out.

I like this pick. The Rain or Shine team is currently on a winning streak, so they will be desperate to continue their success in their next game. Perhaps we will even see an upset. Are you not interested in placing a bet on the moneyline?

I don't like how the PBA All-Star draft turned out. Seems to me that they lack bringing new ideas to that event.

Copying the style of the NBA All-Star draft, PBA should at least stick to the system they are using since then.

Even the tossed coin is like a Brgy. level system lol. Hopefully, though that the All-Star game will be entertaining and not turn into a shooting spree with no defense. Playing hard is what fans like as it was more entertaining to watch.

This "basketball" game is so American that whatever style the NBA implements, the PBA will always copy, no doubt about that and this All-Star will be no different hehe.

Well you already said they copy NBA, I will not be surprised if this All-Star game will turn out to be a shooting spree like what happened in the NBA All-star game a few days ago. Cheesy

TBH, I will not watch this All-Star game. I don't even know when it will be, and I don't want to even know. I mean it's very disappointing. The format of how they pick their players is just very unfair especially for those who are in independent teams. Anyway, just move on, move forward, and still I will not watch it. Can I ask, is there any contests that will happen there aside from the All-Star game? Like a 3-pt contest or something?

ROS played their last game without their import for some unknown reasons. Now if ROS will play again without any import, that +10.5 might not get covered still. The import of Magnolia is just amazing. His body is kind off big, but his footwork is like the same as the footwork of Manuel or at least on par with him. He's great, and with that many shooters of Magnolia, they might just crush the ROS if they will play without an import. Well, it's a different story if there is an import.

PBA players that are popular are like celebrities in the Philippines, people will surely come to see them. This is all-star, but the meaning of an all-star should be on the current situation, not an all-star in the past, you know what I'm saying.
That's really sad. Before these all-star games, it's totally different from the last all-star that we've seen. It was much awaited for an all-star day to come but so sad to see that most of them came from one team. It should be fair in distribution and most teams should have given an equal share for participation but it wasn't.

Well, I symphatize those who are not invited beause they  are not popular despite having an impressive season, but it is what it is, they just have to  accept it.
There's no help with it, if you are just researching for some PBA related hates on social media, you'll see some specific commissioners being bashed by certain groups ever since we only see the same teams again and again in the finals.

Well, I expect a lot of crowd with this one at least because the venue is outside of NCR, and fans can't wait to see their idols playing in front of them.

Nothing that they can do, PBA is a business and the league needs to gain money from this all-star activities, just an event and if those players will do more hard work time will come for them and they will be added to this event, those who are selected didn't just go straight and became popular they also invested their talents and all the hard works to bring their name on top.

Let's enjoy what the league bring us and hopefully fans will not be dissapointed with the outcome of this game.

I do not think so. If they continue this format, the fans will pick the players for the all-star game, then players from unpopular teams will not have enough votes to qualify. Even if you overachieve if you are not popular or your team is not popular, you cannot gain enough followers to vote for you. I think it is best that only the starting 5 will be voted by the fans and PBA will vote for the role players. This will give chance to players who performed great recently but not popular to play in the all-star games.

Commissioner Adam Silver was asked about the shooting spree yesterday in the All-Star game, and what he said was "It's Okay".
If this All-Star game will turn out to be a shooting spree as well just like in NBA, I expect the same or at least near to that answer.

Yes they've added a new event for the PBA aside from the 3x3 which is that PBA Esports League (correct me if I'm wrong), but they forgot to change what they need to change in the All-Star game. I'm still disappointed to the fact that players who aren't deserved to play there has a spot while those who are deserve are just watching on their homes.

Team Scottie - Christian Standhardinger, CJ Perez, Calvin Abueva, Robert Bolick, Arvin Tolentino, Kevin Alas, Jayson Castro, Stanley Pringle, Marcio Lassiter, Mark Barroca, James Yap

Team Japeth - June Mar Fajardo, Jamie Malonzo, Chris Newsome, RR Pogoy, LA Tenorio, Mikey Williams, Paul Lee, Jeremiah Gray, Gian Mamuyac, Nards Pinto, Terrence Romeo.

If you will look at the players of both teams, 8 players came from Ginebra, 4 came from SMB and the rest from different teams already. I don't know if some here sees the same for me, but there are some players out there who aren't qualified to be in the All-Star game. They're just there just because they came from a popular team like Ginebra. There are many better players out there from independent teams who didn't enter because they just hand-picked base on who the fans voted. Which is not fair for me. Where is Teng? Maverick Ahamnisi? Tiongson? Almazan? Even Oftana & Jalalon isn't on the list as well.

There are a lot of players who did not given a chance to pick for this all-star because we all know that besides this players name mentioned above there are many players q still worthy for this and like you said that Teng, Almazan, Jalalon, oftama even mark barroca and jayvee cassio. And for the lineup as we can see that 8 players from barangay and 4 for SMB which is not good and fair for me we must remember that there are 12 teams in PBA which every team even the weaker one have a player that we consider as a all-star but can not carry his team alone.

Yeah right, even the team is weak there's still star who can be qualified to play for the All-star but that didn't happened from this list, we can't do anything now but to hope that those players will bring the entertainment that we are expecting from them, PBA all-star hopefully will be different from what happened with the last NBA all-star that take place.

I don't want to say something about how they are picking those players for the All-Star game, but there are way better players out there who aren't picked just because they aren't popular enough. Kind of disappointing.

Some players who are really playing well this conference are not in the All-Star game. Well, they cannot complain about that because the All-Star game is a popularity contest. Even if you are struggling, as long as you are popular, you will surely have a slot. Anyway, I just wish that this All-Star game is not the same as the NBA All-Star game where there's almost no defense at all. It's just like a 3-point shooting contest so it has become boring.

Hopefully, since PBA is following the concept and they are aiming to gain that hypes for this season's All-star game, I'm just happy to see that both TR7 and  James Yap will be playing, I see the point above you where good players are not being selected as like how you describe it, All-Star game is a fan base selections, as long as you have the name the chance to be selected still high.

Let see if how things will work during the All-Star night. Maybe coaches will give some defense to entertain the fans.

Just my opinion though, still depends on how they will design the system for each team.

I hope there are also betting odds for the All-Star game. I would be interested in betting on the winner of the 3-point shooting contest and, of course, the actual All-Star game. Maybe it won't be the same as the NBA since PBA players are not as good at shooting 3-pointers as NBA players, so we might see more action in this game. I can't remember, when was the last PBA All-Star game?

By the way, some great achievements for JMF.

Fajardo joins elite 2,000 offensive rebound-club

Quote
SIX-time MVP June Mar Fajardo continues to join the elite ranks of PBA big men after becoming the latest member of the 2,000 offensive rebound-club.

The 6-foot-11 San Miguel center achieved the milestone during the team's 102-99 win over defending champion Barangay Ginebra last week in the Governors' Cup.

Fajardo grabbed a total of 18 rebounds in the win, including 12 offensively.

He is now the sixth player in league history to grab 2,000 offensive rebounds after legendary centers Ramon Fernandez, Abet Guidaben, and Jerry Codinera, along with Asi Taulava and Ali Peek.

The big man from Cebu reached the landmark early in the game when he grabbed the rebound to score his first basket.

The roster for Team Scottie and Team Japeth for the All-Star game is over just hours ago.
The 2 captains drafted for their all-star players. These are the roster of each teams.

Team Scottie - Christian Standhardinger, CJ Perez, Calvin Abueva, Robert Bolick, Arvin Tolentino, Kevin Alas, Jayson Castro, Stanley Pringle, Marcio Lassiter, Mark Barroca, James Yap

Good news for Romeo, now CJ has a buddy to create shots. However, I don't think they will play together. Maybe Romeo will be in the second unit as their defense will be affected if both are starters, especially for Romeo, who is not known to be a good defender. I hope this time around, Romeo will be able to play more games. I'm not wishing for an injury, but we have to be realistic as he is not playing as many games anymore with the SMB.

Wondering why TR7 is no longer playing. Is he injured again?
Probably he has not fully recovered yet, and I think he will not have a spot with SMB anymore as there's a rumor that he will be traded. He's good, but due to being an injury-prone player, his value has gone down. You know, even Chris Ross, who used to be a starter with SMB, is now in the 2nd unit only, as they trust Simon over him so much.

Here's the latest news about Terrence Romeo, this is published last Jan. 29, 2023.

PBA: Vic Manuel set for San Miguel return, Terrence Romeo needs more time for recovery

Quote
ANTIPOLO—New San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent gave an update on the team’s two key cogs Vic Manuel and Terrence Romeo after the Beermen’s 114-93 win against Phoenix in their first game in the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Vic Manuel will be returning to action for the Beermen as early as next week after suffering a calf injury, confirmed Gallent.

Vic had already return, we might see Terrence Romeo soon.

SMB I believed gambled the last play. I see 2 reasons why they sit out JuneMar Fajardo:

- expecting overtime so JMF will somehow rest early and be ready on OT
- JMF now has 4 fouls and saving it on the possible OT

Let's say they are preparing JMF in overtime at least they should instead Mo Tautaa to replace JMF and not Brondial. Anyways, move on now. Smiley

That does not only happen in that game. It seems like the coach is not really using Fajardo well. Look at the contributions of Fajardo. Before, he could score like 20 or even 30 points, but now his production is not as much. I believe Fajardo should be the first option because he can dominate the paint, and TNT is not even double-teaming him as they trust Williams to defend Fajardo. The last play was just a bad decision, and I agree with you on that.

As a big fan of SMB, I can say that JMF should be the first option for their defense like how you observe he got limited time, and the play is more likely for CJ and the import, if they maximize him and keep him receiving the ball just like how coach Leo design the play for him, SMB will continue to dominate.

In that last sequence, not sure why coach Jorge remove him knowing that it's an important defense that they need to push the game into OT.

Likewise, nothing to say but to move on and forget about that loss.

We should move on, but it's alright to discuss that game since we have to wait for days before we can start betting again.

The game will be on Wednesday, so there's nothing we can discuss except past games. Fajardo is still the best player in the PBA, and he still dominates, but it's unfortunate that he has not been fully maximized. We miss Coach Leo, but he was also struggling in the past season, which is the reason why he was replaced.

You are right, Kabayan! The game will be next week so there's nothing to discuss here aside from that last game, I don't see that coming I mean about coach Leo, I was still in the past prime of SMB where he would continue to run and execute the design play for JMF, whoever the game maker the system will start with JMF's post and everyone will move either to receive the ball o to give him space for one on one.

Not that much now after coach Leo being replaced by coach Jorge, JMF in local terms is doing sariling Kayod to get some offense.

Wondering why TR7 is no longer playing. Is he injured again?
