My prediction here are as follows.

Ginebra will beat NO (2-0)
Bay Area will eliminate ROS in 1 game
SMB will beat converge (2-1)
Magnolia will beat Phoenix (2-1)
My prediction is almost the same as this one. The only differences that I think will happen are:
Ginebra will defeat NorthPort 2-1
Magnolia will beat Phoenix 2-0.
This might be a surprise (and a bit of a bias since I'm an SMB fan) but we might see them winning against Converge 2-0.
Bay Area will finish this one in one game easily.

...unless coach Yeng has found something that will beat the system of Bay Area.  Good luck to him, he is a veteran coach but he has past his prime.

Finding a system that can be used against the Bay Area Dragons should be easy. But the problem is, even if they will found a way, are those ROS players capable to execute it properly knowing almost the entire roster of the Dragons are tough to match with?

Even if Coach Yeng is still in his prime, there's a big difference between his players and those Dragons players. For the system to be effective, players should also be capable of doing it. They are totally mismatched with the Dragons and that's a fact. Give Coach Yeng a roster same to those big contenders and for sure he will have a chance of beating this monster team.

Although I believe that you might be right, I still think that the ROS has a chance of beating the Bay Area Dragons. That's just my way of convincing myself and expecting that this fight is not gonna be a one sided game, of course I know how good Bay Area Dragons are, so there's no excitement if I will convince myself that they will just dominate the ROS.

I do not believe that ROS can knockout the twice-to-beat Bay Area Dragons but I think they can at least pull one game from them. A surprise tactics, tough defense, and luck can catch the Dragons off guard, and may lose the first game. That is a probability based on how good their coach is. But, to totally get out of the first round against the Dragons, then that maybe is too much to ask. They can surprise them once but twice in a row, I do not think so.
If they can stop Powell, they might steal one game from the Dragons.
The question is who in ROS can stop that guy?

He is the heart of the whole team, and he is a scoring machine. Stopping him would cause a major effect to the whole team, but how can you stop a scorer who scored 30+ points in every single game and the Dragons are 8-0 when he is the Point Guard. I might be a bit optimistic about the Dragons but that's how good they are right now and with Powell as their import, I don't know if how the ROS will stop him. On the other hand, we might see some tricks coming from Coach Yeng since he already has many experiences coaching so we might see some never seen tricks coming from him that might stop the Dragons.

I'm not sure if it was from Yeng the quote that I've read about them not being allowed to have 2-3 more imports while for Bay Area Dragons, they've got more.
Well, if that's for real, I understand the frustration on his part because they're a permanent team in the PBA and as for the Dragons it is also understandable that they've got more since they're a guest team. And AFAIK, they've been thinking or it's already on the plans and will soon be official about their 10-year stay in the PBA thus, expected that they'll have more foreign players, imports.

There's nothing much that we can do but just give them our full support. We can't do anything with the setup as the SBP is owned not by the government but by a private entity or corporation that can control everything there. And as we know, Chot is being held by the MVP company and that's why he can't be moved on his position as the coach and even managed to kick Tab Baldwin on that position who's been doing well based on the feed back by most that know the team's run.

That happens when for a long time the government is the one in control of national basketball team but our team was going down the drain. There is no practice, and no proper handling for the longest time. Then someone private stepped in and it was a success. We even went to FIBA world for the first time in 40 years. It was because it was well coordinated, and practice was in full swing. They build the best team PBA can provide. Now, too much politics and very little practice are happening again. It is not just the coach that is the problem, it is the whole system. We do not have grassroots programs that will train young basketball athletes to compete internationally. We can support all we want but nothing great will happen unless a good system is in place from both government and private entities.
Politics is everywhere and we just have to deal with it. The system that this team has got cannot remove the politics and that's it. We just have to look at the bright sides of the situation that they're dealing with. Like with the recent news I've seen about them, for next year, they'll train abroad with the best trainers and it's said that all of them will be part of it. So, I think that's an open and a very good progress for which they'll be able to gain a lot of new acquired knowledge and experiences from that possible boot or training camp.

We can't do anything about it but just to trust the process and Chot with his way of coaching it, hopefully, there could be some miracles for Gilas.

Yes, no choice but to support instead the whole Gilas team whoever or whatever the lineup, coaching staff, and anything.

But it's good to support something that we really see improving and changing. They should also hear the people's stand related to it.

Maybe moving to have that chance to play against the top seeder was already an achievement for him after being away from his former team and now coaching them back.

It wasn't an achievement IMO, why? because the only reason why they will play the top seed because they are at the bottom.  Grin

Well, I think there's a chance to win, and if they will upset the Bay Area Dragon, that's the best achievement for me, even just winning in the elimination, it's like winning a championship since Bay Area is the best team this conference.

Considering your point maybe it wasn't but still knowing who are those teams who got eliminated and the selections that coach Yeng have right now, IMO it was but no need to argue with you, as at in the end of the day there's nothing that they can do to beat the top seeder visiting team, which also eager in winning the title.

No offense to the team and coach Yeng, but The Dragons can simply finished them and continue to the next round.

RoS was able to win their match against NLEX which secured their slot for the playoffs. They beat NLEX 110-100, a very decisive win. They will face the Top team in the conference right now, Bay Area Dragons. The Dragons have a twice-to-beat against Rain or Shine. I think it will be very difficult to win against the dragons, twice in a row. They have the advantage in height, import and camaraderie. It will be a tough job for Coach Yeng Guiao to command Rain or Shine to win against the top team, but I am beating they can surprise them in game 1. The dragons have a history of getting surprised with the tough defense that RoS can give.
It will be over in one game, that's for sure.

That is how confident I am with the Bay Area Dragons. I mean just look at how they dominated every single game. Well, they lost against Meralco but with only a single digit lead and to Ginebra which they lost by a huge margin.  Let's take note that the Bay Area Dragons didn't lose a single game with Powell as their import. Their 2 losses are when their import is Nicholson. I'm confident with the Dragons surpassing the first round, but still the ball is round, and we don't know what can happen.

They might be tested on the second round where they will face the winner of Converge-SMB. Both are strong teams and SMB doesn't have JMF on some of their games that's why they ended up on the 5th. Converge on the other hand played really well this conference as well so they might be tested on the second round. I would love to see the Dragons reaching the PBA Finals against Ginebra and this is my prediction as well. Bay Area Vs. Ginebra in the PBA Finals.

Coach Yeng beat his old team but that doesn't mean he will advance in the semi finals. Against the Bay Area Dragon with twice to beat disadvantage, that's not gonna happen, unless coach Yeng has found something that will beat the system of Bay Area.  Good luck to him, he is a veteran coach but he has past his prime.

Comparing the stats and checking the capabilities to win against the Bay Area Dragon, I can go in your direction. Even coach Yeng advances and moves to the playoff. The chance of escaping the top seeders to move forward is next to impossible, unless he might found something that will break both the offense and defense capabilities of the visiting team.

Maybe moving to have that chance to play against the top seeder was already an achievement for him after being away from his former team and now coaching them back.

If his team does not qualify for the playoffs, then how can you expect they'll do better in international competition? Gilas are probably composed of lots of TNT players because he is the coach, so I don't see the team being a quality team to be competitive enough against the big and more agile teams.

That's not a good comparison, mate.

TNT suffers a blow at this conference and that impacted their rally. Injuries, consistency of import, Mikey Williams drama, etc.

Gilas is also not just composed of TNT players that's why it's not appropriate to have a conclusion like that.

Only a few TNT players are with Gilas, maybe Pogoy, Erram, and  Kib Montalbo are only included in the roster, sorry not so familiar with the current update, that's only based on what I saw in their past games. Personally, what I don't like with Gilas are not the players but their coach, sorry again.

So this is now where Chot won't participate in the playoffs after 21 years. He became a fun meme for most PBA and basketball fans recently because of his attitude towards the game and for being too selfish about coaching two teams, Gilas and his team.
I think his team being out is actually good if you're thinking about the Gilas so that he can focus there more and there won't be any distractions anymore from the playoffs. And then from there, prove the critics wrong and show that he deserves wherever he is.

Well, the players are different and he's got a full stack of those young talents. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he'll still do good and he can now focus on the Gilas.
Comparing TNT and Gilas isn't a thing for me, they are a different breeds of basketball players but we'll still see. We can't do anything about it but just to trust the process and Chot with his way of coaching it, hopefully, there could be some miracles for Gilas.

Good win but I would not expect they'll beat the Bay Area Dragon, last time they meet, Bay Area dominated them, they look like they are in a PBA D League. Coach Yeng had succeeded to be in the playoffs, but they are in a tough situation now.

International games are different from PBA, although the team has plenty of TNT players the team is composed of star players and they are still competitive. TNT just miss the playoffs in one conference and we are already overreactive, come on guys, give them next time, for sure they will bounce back as long as they are healthy.
TNT is still a great team though with a lot of good finish from previous conference, maybe they just don't have the chemistry yet but with regards to their talents we should not disregard it, this conference might not be for them and other teams are just so eager to at least get into the playoffs. Let's not just blame Coach Chot here, the whole team did their best its just that, its not enough. We have to move on and focus on the teams that are still playing, there will be more surprises for this conference for sure.
They should make a move on Williams, he cannot stay with TNT as he will only destroy the chemistry. If one player is acting like a superstar and he wants special attention, that will affect the others and the bond will not be create. I though he will be the next Jason Castro, but I was wrong because the Castro I know is a very humble player despite being a talented one.
