Aside from the fact that Indonesia defeated the Gilas in the SEA Games, let's also add that Japan ended the 12 year drought against us. They didn't defeat the PH for more than a decade and it ended in their last game when the PH lost. Who is the coach? Coach Chot. I just don't know why the SBP still keeping him even though Coach Chot already rendered a resignation letter to them already. Well, I just hope that a miracle will happen in the World Cup and we will have a different coach at that time. We still have a year to go to decide which coach will replace or worst, he might not get replaced.

SBP does want to piss the fans, in that game, people are booing chat, I hope they already see that as a sign that we don't want him coaching our strong roster. I mean, if we ever reach in the world cup, we need a level-up coach, not someone who are always criticized by the fans.

I miss the old Gilas, the Romeo and Castro lineup, they are well coached.

A 2-2 series will be more entertaining than a 3-1 series so I'm not surprised with the outcome in Game 4.
I mean at the start, you can feel the aggression of the TNT already and with Coach Chot coming back, their morale has boosted even more. If Playoff Ross is the hero of Game 3, it's Playoff Blur in Game 4. 26 points in 31 minutes and he is off the bench. When you need a player to step up when needed, Castro is the one that they will go.
Castro took over that game because he know he cannot rely on his young teammates especially Williams who's production was very low in this series. I also like to commend the performance of Kelly "the machine gun"Williams because he played so hard, he doesn't look old against Fajardo although it's very evident who is the dominant player, but at least he played better compared to the young bigs of the TNT.
I'm thinking of a different reason into why Castro chose to took over the game.
He sees Williams hasn't been the Williams that they know who always shots and scores 20 points because the Beermen knew already what they will do to him to shut him down and they need somebody to step up offensively and that's why Castro took over. Pogoy was a given already but they need a second scorer that will help the team offensively.

With regards to Kelly Williams, let's take note that he already retired but Coach Chot said to come out of it and play again under him and he didn't hesitate and now he is performing a big role to his team. If you watched the whole series, you will see that Kelly and JMF are always coming in and out at the same time (maybe there was some times where it didn't happen). That's because the primary objective of Kelly is to at least lessen the efficiency of JMF. It doesn't happen all the time as JMF is still dominant but still there are times where Williams is playing very good against him and we've seen it in Game 4 or maybe Fajardo can still feel the fatigue because he played many minutes in Game 3. Anyway, commend to him as well Smiley.

His play is not effective in international tournament anymore.

As most basketball enthusiast says, Coach Chot's system is only effective in PBA and not in the international league anymore.

Defeating KSA last night won't change the fact that we are struggling in top countries.

Being defeated by Indonesia in the South East Asian Games is already a big reason and enough for Coach Chot to consider stepping down even if SBP will ask him to continue his job as a head coach for Gilas. Enough of these learning experiences.
We will agree that the PH are heavily favored on that game right so I think it wasn't that significant. Maybe seeing our president watching is more significant than the win Cheesy. JK.

After losing against the Lebanon some fans says that the strategy or system by coach Chot is effectively only in PBA which is as we can saw that gilas is struggling to compete other tough countries even though we have kai sotto and Jordan Clarkson but still they struggling. Maybe because of the chemistry from the coach and to the players because chot and players did not have enough time for training and build a good chemistry.

Hopefully he recognize how much the fans want him to step down as head coach of Gilas. He was ignoring them since it is just in social media that he receives the hate but now it is live and on the court that he received the boos. That must have hurt a lot. We have a lot to thank coach Chot especially the achievements of the 2013 -2014 gilas but it is time that he steps down. His play is not effective in international tournament anymore.
It's certain and he surely recognizes that the fans don't like him. But there's just this thick face of him and there are his colleagues in the SBP that are tolerating his work with the Gilas.
Don't worry, once the new PSC chair is on the sit, it is certain that he'll start to touch down with the issue to address this thing for them to realize that they're being puked by the mass and the fans.

Chot Reyes was there in the game earlier. He was actually booed by the MOA Arena crowd when introduced. I think it was very crass to boo the coach, but it reflects how the fans feel about what is happening to Gilas. All these politics is not helping the team win internationally.
Not a fan of Chot Reyes but hearing the crowd booed him is quiet disappointed at all. This is an international competition and we should show some respect not just for our team but also to our opponent. Well, the disappointment is there but I think it’s too much. Well, this is how Pinoy wants to happen then so be it. It’s good that Gilas didn’t affect that much and they still focus on the game. I hope to see the same players in the next leg of this qualifiers, they have a good chemistry already, let’s hope for Clarkson again.

There will be no Clarkson or Kai on the November or February window of the qualifiers because it conflicts with NBA and NBL schedule. It means less fire power for us but hopefully SBP will be able to find an abled replacement for both. But I think they will be available for the world cup and that is more important. At least they will be there when it matters the most.

It might be disappointing and for some, it was disrespectful as a Filipino to have such an act during a live game but it should serve as a message to the whole SBP and to Coach Chot himself that something big needs to be done. Even players like Jordan Clarkson and Dwight Ramos are supporting Coach Chot Reyes, nothing will change the fact that there's a politics in SBP.

It should be more respectful if, after that "booing" incident, Coach Chot will step down and not stay there just because SBP asked him to do it. I'm not fully against Coach Chot but for the sake of supporting Gilas, stepping down will be more appreciated. But the way things are happening, that won't likely happen.

Well, there's more than the disappointment that you've felt about Chot. Fans are more disappointed than us because it's too much already for Chot.
The Gilas might have won against the KSA but this isn't really a strong team. When the Gilas go with a stronger team, it's understandable. I understand the frustration of the fans and the players are also protecting Chot since he's their coach. But this is a bigger league and it's all about World Cup, he's got TNT and finals, there are other coaches that are free that he can pass on the responsibility but he didn't give it. There's really a politics with SBP and Gilas.

Just minutes from now, the Gilas won by a huge margin against the Saudi Arabia 84-46.
The Gilas had a sluggish first quarter and the quarter almost ended with a score of 14-8 but that halftime buzzer beater of Clarkson ignited the whole team as well as the whole 19,000+ crowd and from that, they started to take the lead and never looked back.

Clarkson ended with 23 points, Sotto with a 16 point double-double and Ramos with 9 points. Next games of Gilas will be in the 10th and 13th of November against Jordan and Saudi Arabia respectively.

Nice bounce back after a disappointing loss, and I didn't see coach Chot in that game, so maybe that's the reason why they were so dominant.

The Lebanon game wasn't that disappointing. It was a close game and the players played well considering it was an away game and Lebanon is a good team too.

Kudos to Gilas for winning the game against Saudi Arabia. We actually had a glimpse of Kai sotto dominance in the paint when given the proper play. The Jordan-Sotto connection is real. Jordan made 6 assists out of Sotto. They had a rough start in the first half, but everything changes in the second half. They found their footing and left Saudi Arabia in the dust.

Good thing is that Saudi aren't outside shooters. But if they do, for sure a lot of free threes were already flying in the MOA arena. These three main men of Gilas were the ones who started it.
They were able to set the momentum and the team goes well already. So, the next game will be against Saudi again on the 13th of November? I hope that the same result will happen.

..... but I'm sure it will not be -3.5 TNT, maybe SMB will be the favorite next game.

For sure, otherwise, takers of SMB would be so happy betting on the Moneyline. I think the spread will be -1.5 for SMB just like in game 1. All I know is that the series has been so entertaining so far, so whoever wins game 5 is not a sure winner in the series.
-1.5 for SMB are more likely to be the odds, despite of theis loss they are still the favorite team here and for sure they will bounce back. Yes, this series is more entertaining, a different company fighting to get the championship never fails to entertain. But now the focus of many is still with the Gilas, it's good to have the lead against Saudi which should be the game ball or else, many will be mad again at the coaching staff of Gilas, I just don't like the boos of the viewers, they lose their respect.
A 2-2 series will be more entertaining than a 3-1 series so I'm not surprised with the outcome in Game 4.

There’s no doubt about the performance of TNT in game 4, in almost field they work great and with SMB struggling with their passes and offense, the result is too bad for them. The series is tied what we can expect next is both team will surely want to take the lead and only those who work hard and execute their strategy well will surely win, fixing game is not real in a series like this, and let’s see who will take the game 5 because right now it’s really hard to predict.

SMB should fix that problem. Also, the one where June Mar is trapped inside, and the ball is getting stolen by smaller guards. It is their time to adjust now because TNT seems to find that sweet spot where they can defend the onslaught of June Mar. They also should limit their turnovers. TNT was able to convert 15 pts from turnovers. They also have 17 points from the fast break. I think we will see big adjustments from the side of San Miguel to address that problem coming from TNT.
SMB has a good coaching staff and most probably they saw that problem that occur on their last game, they will adjust accordingly. With TNT, for sure they will continue to play that good strategy and have neck and neck fight with SMB, game 5 can be more thrilling and I can see a point of 200+ again in the game 5. This is a high scoring game with great team, who ever take the lead for sure will have more confident getting into game 6, for now let's focus on the odds first for the game 5.
Both have an outstanding coaches, they will do everything to win that's why the series is very close. We are now tied with 2-2 score, so games going forward should be very exciting to watch. Next game will be this coming Wednesday, there's no odds yet, but I'm sure it will not be -3.5 TNT, maybe SMB will be the favorite next game.

I think it will still be SMB as the favorite in the next game even if they lost the previous games. Again I'm not going to be surprised if this series is extending to game 7. And I would say it is a balance series obviously, no one has the upper hand and it's a gam of momentum. And probably boils down as who wanted to win this series and raised the trophy. So it's going to be a battle of defense and their best players performing above, JMF for SMB and Castro for TNT.

Gilas won and really dominates the game against KSA, well it's already expected since KSA is not that good.
I watched the highlights here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06kzXkWLFVc
It's fun watching them getting good looks, yes, Saudi Arabia is not a good team but I like to know what was the betting spread prior to the game.
Anyone?

Quote
Anyway, SMB will still be the favorite team here because of JMF and with a good plays and strategy there's a higher chance for them to take back the lead again. TNT is not losing their hope and still focus on their goal, so far this series is one of the most entertaining game since the pandemic, It's really good to see quality basketball again.
JMF is always there to carry the team, he is back on his MVP form, so it's not impossible that the will make history again, the best game he had was game 3 which he grabbed 27 rebounds IIRC.

That's fair, -1.5 for SMB would make the betting balance as there are some bettors who think TNT could lead the series after game 5. Last game started in a low scoring quarter, but eventually they found their rthym and their shots were falling. Lassiter's 3-point is very important, so has to make more contributions next game.
