I'm really excited to see the return of PBA.

If you are aware of my post before, I like to follow Blackwater's journey on achieving every loss record on their game.

With the return of the PBA, I'm expecting they will establish a new record again as the team with the most losses in history. They should keep it up as that's a unique record that won't be break-even we count for at least 5 years. Agree?
Well, there is no changes in their team and with the new rule of PBA regarding free agency they didn't make a move.
Ohhh wait, BlackWater is an independent team. Who in the hell wants to join a team with lesser benefits and lesser salary? As a player you will go to a team where it has many benefits when you enter the playoffs, higher chances of entering the playoffs and higher chances of winning the championship. You know what I mean Smiley.

TBH, I'm more excited with how and when will the Blackwater get their first victory than who will win in this Governor's Cup because in the end it will still be MVP Vs. SMC and it has been for a long time already.

On other news. I just saw this in Social Media and I think there are times where we are talking about Chris Banchero right and him not being happy with the Phoenix.
Well, the Meralco signed Banchero as a free agent after he declined the 3 year deal offer by the Phoenix.

What do you think of Newsome and Banchero tandem? Cheesy

That record would continue with the way things are shaping up for Blackwater with regards to this unrestricted free agent rule. Rashawn McCarthy and William McAloney have entered the free agency and refused to sign with the Bossings thus leaving them more helpless when the games resume hehe.

I agree, this record will be hard to break but hopefully the PBA do some actions to solve this kind of problem which affects also the entire PBA in term of viewership as most fans will watch only the strong teams play.

PBA management has been blindfolded with money and I doubt they take actions towards this happening since for the longest time they let those companies take the good players in the league to get more advantage and what left to other is average guys, this scenario makes the league unbalance and its so boring to see this since every game is almost predictable.

If PBA remain to like this every year for sure they lose the fans interest and might this league will collapsed for this issues.

No one or I mean no team in the right mindset will choose to break that record, not a good example being called part of professional league but what happened to this team, the owner and all the staff are not doing anything to change the direction of this team, they are all good with what's going on with the team, accepting the fate that they are the weakest.

I don't see any major changes. A revamp might help from the coaching staff to the players if they are still into a competition..

That's the result of the big teams manipulating the system, they get the best players and leave a farm team a bunch of nobodies. There's nothing they can do to improve if they don't change the system, unless they are willing to rig games to give the blackwater a chance to win.

Eveyone is excited for the return of the PBA, so if they start and later it will be suspended, that would make the fans disappointed and that's what I don't want to see.

With the looks of it, i don't think that it would be stop again  Smiley. Not a health expert but have read many articles that this year might be the end of the pandemic (i do hope so and praying for that) so everything will be back to normal and watching PBA live from the arena will be back again.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial have said in an interview that only tv crews and staff will be allowed in the February 11 resumption but he is open of allowing audience on the preceding week if things goes as planned.

Quote
“Wala munang fans. Sa simula tingnan muna natin. Tapos siguro after a week, baka puwede na tayong magpapasok ng fans,” said Marcial.
The pandemic will end only if we will change how we think about COVID19. WHO said already last year that the virus is here to stay already. The virus will be like flu in the long term and it will stay. Though I like the optimism of many health experts regarding the end of pandemic and I'm hoping as well that this year the pandemic will end or at least go down to endemic.

With regards to the resume of PBA, many of us are happy and being in the bubble for one week is a better choice. Its better not let the fans watch games immediately because we still have high cases compare to where it was weeks ago. Its good that the Omicron isn't as severe as Delta and we only saw the huge spike for a shorter amount of time. I'm excited to watch PBA games already. I really missed going to NCR again and go around Cheesy.

Yes, Blackwater seems to be on a losing streak forever. What's up with them, honestly? I mean how can a team suck so bad?

And yes I don't think that their unique record will be broken in the near future. Actually, they have the last one against NLEX in October 2020, Since then they are yet to register a win against their name.  Cry

That's the most logical thing to do, to return to a game where no audience was allowed. They have done it before and players are used to having a silent environment for years. But for the imports, they might be new in this kind of environment unless they played for other teams on the outside league with that setup.

Actually, I really don't understand why they need to suspend the game while always players is completely vaccinated and on quarantine as there requirements when playing.

It's a general term under Alert Level 3 that no in-door sports are allowed to contine even all are vaccinated not unless it's a bubble setup.

Instead of doing a bubble, PBA just patiently wait for the Alert 2 to return making things more easy to execute.

Last Sunday, around 12 noon, I read right away the breaking news that Manila will revert back to Alert level 2 starting February 1.

After that, I'm now being sure that PBA will make some updates next since that's the only thing they are waiting for to resume the conference, to have Manila back to Alert Level 2. And guess what, I'm right as just several hours later, PBA announced that they are now coming back.

The crucial part is, the current alert level will only last until February 15. In that case, there are roughly around 1-3 days for PBA to resume then will wait for another announcement. But referring to the recent status of the confirmed cases, likely, Manila will remain at Alert 2 the whole month. Let's hope for it.

Let's just look forward and hope that there would be no suspensions again and that the games will continue until the season ends.
I think what we should look for now is if the PBA would really resume on the date they announce, and that is on February 11, 2022. We are still in a pandemic, and anytime the cases of the omicron virus will rise again, it's like we are going back and forth of the restrictions in a never-ending problem.

We are all in that same sentiment; we don't want to see another delay and hopefully this decrease in alert level will continue and the numbers of affected cases will continue to be lessen we don't want to hear or read another postponement since PBA already gave their notice, announcing that Feb 11 will be the resume date.

Though we are not in control of possibilities, what we can do for now is to wait and hope that it will happen.

Again, let's hope that there would be no setbacks this time around and that PBA could continue its games without any cancelled or postponed games, especially now that the NCR is already under Alert Level 2 so it's back to business for the PBA. Also, I've read somewhere that for now there would be no audience allowed as for safety precautions but the good news is if ever that things will go smoothly, then maybe after 2 weeks they would allow limited audience to watch and participate in the said games, live.

Actually, I really don't understand why they need to suspend the game while always players is completely vaccinated and on quarantine as there requirements when playing. They can just check the temperature of each player or do a rapid test before the game to guarantee there will be no infected player that will play on the court. There will be no fans watching so I believe restricting sports is necessary if all players and staff inside the court is already vaccinated.

as I heard on statement from DOTR personnel. They are planning to remove alert levels since most of the infected person didn't require to go in the hospital based on the recent surge result. I hope PBA will continue now.

We can't really blame the government if they had to put the entire Luzon or NCR under the Alert Level 3 for safety reasons because the omnicron variant was still new at that time and there's no much information about it. They had no choice but to impose and restrict the movements to all people and establishments to ease the local transmission. It's not that easy to just check the temperature or do a rapid test of every players and staffs before every game as it's not yet guaranteed that there would be no transmission, and as saying goes, better safe than sorry.

Let's just look forward and hope that there would be no suspensions again and that the games will continue until the season ends.

Anyhow, the PBA can't afford anymore if there's some other upcoming setbacks like another variant (cross finger) because they've poured too much funds already according to the PBA. Yes, at last PBA will resume soon and this time, the dates of the games are already posted so I suppose we can now bet again next week. Happy betting everyone!
We should hope and believe that the government already learn the possible ways to continue decreasing the spread, PBA can't afford another delay to their target schedule, it's been long since they postponed the game and for sure they are really affected financially, but likewise, the betting will be resume for the gamblers and aside from those fans who's longing to see their teams and players, gamblers are also excited to place their bets.. Roll Eyes Tongue
I'm glad the news came out that they will resume next month, I've been waiting for that good news and now it's finally confirmed. It looks like it was just stopped yesterday and will resume tomorrow, I understand that they need to do it because of the restrictions but I'm glad that they will return.

The betting will start soon, please don't forget to share your bets as well. right here! Smiley
No more setbacks as we go to alert level 2 in February, but to make sure its still better to PBA to play on a bubble and aim to finish this conference in February. I know it might be a short period of playing but at least, they finish the conference and they can now start to prepare for another conference. Can’t wait to watch them back again, my betting money is also ready for action.

Finally, we have the official announcement from the PBA.

Quote
PBA Governors' Cup resumes on Feb. 11

THE elimination round of the PBA Governors' Cup will resume on February 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said teams will first be given 10 days to practice starting Feb.1.

But fans will still not be allowed to watch the games in the first couple of days of action.

In his initial assessment, the league may welcome fans on the second week of its resumption, depending on how the COVID situation will progress.

"Wala munang fans. Pag-aaralan muna natin yung sitwasyon kung pwede na tayong magluwag. At the earliest baka second week magpapasok na tayo ng fans," Marcial said.

No more speculation now as it's already announced that the PBA will resume, and we should be happy with that as betting is always fun when watching the PBA>

Yes, this was breaking news on most sports groups on Facebook. When I see the news, I'm not really surprised since I expected already that one of these days, we can see a good update. Glad to see that they are now coming back.

They are now been half of the Governor's Cup already and they need to continue now to settle the elimination rounds. PBA imports are also heating up to return on the game.

Still more games to be played, teams that are in the top is not guaranteed they'll make it to the elimination round, as long as the lower seed team will work hard enough, they have a chance to upset those who are at the top. NLEX, Magnolia, SMB, and Ginebra, are the teams that are expected to be in the "playoffs", but let's see if our expectation is correct.
