PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on Monday, January 24, said the board of governors agreed to restart the stalled Governors’ Cup in February with the number of coronavirus cases, particularly in Metro Manila, starting to drop.
Marcial said the league was just waiting for the approval of local government units (LGUs) for the return of scrimmages as the board of governors acknowledged that teams should be given 10 days to practice.

As stated from the source, they're still waiting for the LGU's approval to have a green light and to start the 10-day allocated practice before they announce the exact date of when does the games will resume, so I guess 1st week of February isn't final yet. But atleast we know that there's something we can look forward to especially that this games is likely to happen as the covid cases is also slowing down.
Well, at least this is a good news already for us fans and for the PBA management themselves.

Its a win-win that this league will continue which is I think will resume at first Cheesy. Its good too that they didn't went to the Bubble set-up which is we are expecting that they are doing. The number of cases too in the NCR are slowly decreasing already and overall cases are decreasing as well so... yeah I'm happy to see the league resume Smiley.

It was indeed a great news to us and soon we can begin betting on our favorite teams too Grin

The PBA has already clarified 2 weeks ago that there will be no bubble set-up and will only resume the season when the covid cases will be reduced especially in NCR to make sure the safety of their players and staffs. As of now, the covid cases in the NCR are really decreasing everyday and it's a good news as the PBA games won't be postponed again anymore.

But isn't it final already that they will resume next month on the 1st week?

No import, I think it's not exciting, however, I would just accept it as it's better to have that than no PBA at all.
I hope there's no more changes and we will finally see the return of the PBA conference, I think it's almost a month already since it was stopped.

I will echo you from here, whatever the decision will take place as long as the league will go back, it's better than nothing at all, i also don't have any idea with what would be the case for the imports but for sure we will see that once the PBA resume, only a few more days and we will see our favorite team and players to be back in actions.

Though still depends on how the PBA will announce it but so far there are no changes after they inform the public that first week of
Feb they will start the game and resume.

Also, until there's no assurance that they will resume 1st week next month, let us not expect a lot as we might only be discouraged. of course we want to see some action again, but the PBA has been pause for now and all we have to hope is that there will be no more problem that will come in the next few days.

That's great, but they seemed to be confident to say that they will resume next week, so most likely we will see the PBA soon. I'm happy with the news, it seems so positive and I really want to start betting on PBA games again as I'm in a good run thus far, hope my momentum will not be ruined though.

There's no concrete announcement of the dates yet that they're going to resume the said games next week but as said by PBA Commissioner Marcial that they are just waiting for the signal, so it's quite positive that we will be seeing some games soon and that makes me excited because I'm not that contented about the games last year.

It's just a projection, it's not final yet but what is final is that when the PBA will resume, there will be no fans, just like a bubble set up.

Next month is very crucial, we have to hear their decision and I also expect the same, it's either a resumption or cancellation of the season next month, but let's hope for the positive announcement as this season has been very entertaining since imports are back after years of not being allowed to play.

The PBA have already announced that they will resume on the first week of February, specifically on the first Sunday next month so it is safe to assume that this season is already a go, no more cancellation unless a new variant will wreck havoc the whole of the Philippines.

There will resumption but in a crowdless arena as they say for the time being but i think by March they will open the gate for the fans as the covid cases is steadily declining.

THE PBA will most likely return to playing without fans again when the league resumes the 2021 Governors’ Cup by the first week of February at the earliest.

I guess it was previously announced, but of course, we have to see them make a further announcement about the status of the current NBA season. I am optimistic that they will resume soon and it's not gonna be a long wait for us since, in just over a week, we will know if they'll really resume or not.

In online, there's no much news but only an speculation so far.
They can’t afford any further delay or else they have to cancel this conference and waste everything after all.
PBA is already working on this and they told us that in February they will resume the conference, let’s hope for this to happen and no further delay, it looks like the protocols by February will slightly ok for them,

bubble is thing a good option.
They have no choice but to do this last option.
Hoping that the conference will continue next month, hoping that they have a better plan now.
PBA will lose much money if they cancel the conference, so this should not be the option for them better to go for a bubble situation which they have the experience already though of course this will be an additional expense for them.

That's all I want as well, let's just continue to be hopeful of their return because they have invested on this season already as they paid money for the imports and they won't allow to lose their money because of the pandemic, there's always a last option and that is the bubble.

NLEX and Gin kings are hot, but we know both TNT and SMB are both capable of chasing the title.
We just have to hope that everything will go back smoothly now.
Just last week although I can't find the link, I have read that there's also a consideration wherein the Governors Cup will be pushed but without the imports as these guys also have a business to take care and these delays are making their schedule in jeopardy.

It's been a while that we see a not usual team on the top of the standing that's why I like to see where's the dominance of NLEX this Governor's Cup will end up.
Have not read that but i think imports can play as the resumption of games would be on the first Sunday of February and no word yet from the PBA that imports are not allowed to play for the time being.
With the "unrestricted free agent" rule in effect, SMC and MVP teams will become stronger as free agents main priority is to sign with those teams, last option for them is to sign with low tier teams if no offer from strong teams.

Though no imports are not exciting, as you said, I would also just accept it. PBA has always had a soft spot for imports. This time that decision is different and maybe it's ok to have no imports than having no PBA at all. But I don't think that any more changes will be appreciated.

We can conclude that TNT and SMB are tough but there's some other teams too who could show some improvements too, somehow it's early to predict things. We'll just see it soon.

Don't forget about the Ginebra San Miguel,  they are still doing well under Brownlee as their import.

We have TNT and NLEX vs SMB vs BGSM.. these are good teams and one of them could win a championship if the conference will continue.  Also, not counting out the Hotshots, another great team but they are not in my top list though.

If I'm not mistaken, practices are still limited to 5-10 guys on the court? Am I right?

The rotations would be bad but at least teams are getting practices. Imports needs this as they didn't know well the performance of his teammates.

Unfortunately, the set-up of practices are only limited to 7 people together with their head coach and 1 safety officer. So, only the first 5 players including the imports can do that said practice, sure their rotations won't be as great than what they're used to but they don't have any choice as group workouts are still limited in numbers. Also, they're only given 10 days worth of practice before the games resume.
This is why the main players should have more exposure on the practice so they can be good in court but of course I’m pretty sure other players are also given a time to practice since they are part of the team and if things didn’t go the right way, they are the one to fill the blanks. Its good to hear that PBA already have a schedule to resume the conference, wishing for a smooth comeback.

They needed to have that practices too, but main gunners are the priorities for now, it's just more than a week and we will see PBA
back in action. With the preparations coming from all the teams, we will expect some new playing styles, though it's not the same
as the last time due to this omicron, but knowing that they are back and resume, the games are more than okay.

NLEX and Gin kings are hot, but we know both TNT and SMB are both capable of chasing the title.

We will see which team will excel and advance to the next round.. Tongue Roll Eyes

Local main players do need some practice for a good rotation and rhythm when the season resumes, that said, imports also need to the practice to know the capabilities and strengths in their respective team. There's nothing really to expect as of now because their practices aren't  the same as they used to. But yes, as long as we can see them back in action again is what matters the most.

We can conclude that TNT and SMB are tough but there's some other teams too who could show some improvements too, somehow it's early to predict things. We'll just see it soon.
