IMHO, they are aware of it and they get it. It's true that it's not about the ticket prices because whatever the cost of it, if the league is handled well. The venues are going to be closely booked and there will be no more scalpers that will take those tickets but even now, the scalpers aren't interested to take part of hoarding tickets. LOL. The farm teams don't really make sense for the league and the commissioners don't do anything with it in their power to control them but it's always money that talks for them.

I agree, it's not all about the ticket prices or other cost in purchasing merch, it's all about people and the supporters are losing interest with them because of repetitive teams playing in the semis, supporters know how the team plays and they can easily predict who will become the winning team, But I don't know if there's still a lot of people still watching them once it was aired on television.
We don't want to see the same teams with strong line ups always comes back in the semis and finals. We're too tired seeing those teams as if they're the only teams playing on the league. It's kind of deserving to see that the crowd is empty for every game and even in championships, they're giving free tickets and despite that, not everyone tries to get them even they're no cost at all. It's all about what the fans like and I think it was Coach Yeng Guiao that says that the PBA management should listen to what the fans like and not them. They should be done to their own purposes and they should give it this time to fans or they will see the downfall of PBA. Actually, it's already falling.

There are still some but most of them are those who are betting on the games. Actually, they can reach many viewers online like their facebook stream depending on the teams that are playing, if it's Ginebra then that's guaranteed they'll get a good number of viewers.  However, there's a problem with their streaming as it's not really a live telecast but more likely a delayed telecast, that's why people would just choose to watch from the illegal streamers as they provide what people are looking for. Just imagine you are betting on a certain game but what you are watching was a delayed telecast, how can you win?

yeah right, interest even with the bettors will decrease with how the league managements taking care of their live games, just like you mentioned, why bother to bet in a certain events only to find out that the game was alreadt done, it's best for them to take a gambler with how they will bring the fans trust and interest.

If they can add more teams which is not part of the big two franchises or also not a part of the farm team, or like what we are discussing previously about inviting overseas teams which very effective the last time they offer it.

It's more on the adjustments and willingness of the management that may survive the league in terms of fans interest.

That's the fact, only a few watches PBA nowadays and the real fans have stayed but it's not that surprising that many of them have been out too when they're tired seeing the same teams getting in the semis and the finals. IIRC, there's also a promo that they've made about giving free tickets on valentines or this March. I can't remember but it didn't clicked to the public and that's actually a hard pill to swallow for the commissioners and staff of PBA when they're ignored by majority of the Filipino basketball community and it's more fun to watch the other leagues that are emerging nowadays like MPBL and international leagues where there are Filipino players.
They don't get it actually, the real problem is not that people can't afford for the tickets but it's the lack of interest because they are not anymore seeing this as a competitive league. (X) all that farm teams, at least for a start and let's see from their if the league's revenue will progress. The next thing to do is eliminate sister teams as we can't prevent people from thinking that sister teams when playing they aren't serious.

I wasnt' able to bet on games last night but I could have loss my money if I did.

I'm just guessing on the betting spread last night based on the result.

Converge 93- Ginebra 105

Bossing 113 - Northport 115

I think Northport did not cover the spread, same with Ginebra as my guess they are -14.5 or more vs the struggling Converge.

That's a very hard decision to make because PBA is not manage by an independent body, the officers are just put their for formality but in reality it was the SMB and TNT owners that are running the show, they'll put their team and they have to make sure that they will be the most popular teams in the league. It's been going for a while, none of the teams that aren't from those two owners mentioned have a chance to win a championship, they can't deny that anymore.
Though we can’t blame them because they have the money to manipulate the whole league but if they really love PBA, the commissioner should start implementing their rules and be fair, there’s a lot of trust issues with the league already and the result are not that good for them. Imagine, they are the top league before but not it consider as one of the most corrupt league in the Philippines.
They have enjoyed the manipulation before but now they are feeling the result of what they are doing. People are not interested to watch the game anymore so they come up with this market strat to give free tickets using the labor day as its celebration. People won't be fooled by this, some may come but I think the arena would still look empty if it's not ginebra that will be playing, "real talk".

Since labor day is approaching, the PBA is going to distribute free tickets to all of the hardworking laborers out there. They've just announced it. So, next week's ticket on May 1 is going to be free as long as you present valid ID and other proofs that you're an employee or laborer.

That's great initiative, it's also a way of marketing so people's interest will grow on the PBA league. Because whether they admit it or not, it's pretty obvious that people are not watching PBA anymore. With this free tickets promo, we will see if they'll be able to bring people in the arena and judge from their if that strategy is working.

About the SMB vs Magnolia, I thought it was another blowout win by SMB but Magnolia did come back after a huge deficit, IIRC, that was 20 more or less, and now it's just a single digit lead for SMB in the 4th quarter. This game is very exciting.

Yes, they were able to come back in the game and even keep it as close to 1 point only, but as we have seen in the game, the 4th quarter was a difference maker as JMF got aggressive and their 3 point shooting worked perfectly. CJ and Chris Ross have made them paid in that area because they need to double JMF and that would result to a kick out pass.

Paul Lee actually had a great game here with 23 points but they probably miss the service of Jio Jalalon in the defensive end as he didn't play in this game.
That's the problem with SMB even you manage to play good defense against JMF once he kicks the ball out he will always find a shooters that can damage you, you need to rotate as fast as you can, though that rally really gives the fans enjoyment as Magnolia fought well and did try everything that they can to keep the game close, just so happen that SMB is a fully composed squad which have every position to create a damage, still undefeated with a healthy selection on their squad.

It was already reported few weeks back and it's true, PBA did the right thing as they need more attendance to make the league fun to watch. Although I just watch on my TV but seeing the bench looked empty that doesn't like a lively league.
I also read that news before but people are not quite positive on that, it's just like they don't care and don't see it as a good news. I even read bad comments on that news and some say they'll just be wasting their time watching the league, the ticket is free but going their in the venue is still expensive especially if you aren't living near the arena.

Anyway, the first game was concluded, I lost my money because I bet on the wrong team, thinking that Meralco will loss and also got tempted with the odds of Phoenix, but they still loss, i got the ML by the way. I'm watching the 2nd game now, SMB vs Magnolia, looks like SMB is dominating again.

Phoenix vs TNT is currently playing, the team that beat the NLEX via domination is the underdog in this game. I had already put my bet on the Phoenix to win, the odds was very attractive and I'm happy with how it goes so far.

First quarter now and Phoenix is leading by 2, as long as it's a close game I feel like I have a chance to win, it's x2.81 by the way for those who have no idea.

That was the time when Bay Area Dragon was part of the league and with their match against Ginebra, they have filled the entire area. See, that hints that the fans are up for the competition and not with just a few of these teams that will always become the champions and have some unfair trades.

PBA is not dead yet, they just don't want it to be lovable by the fans. I think they need to invite more foreign teams to make it more exciting, the current teams that are playing now is just very predictable, there's no excitement anymore and they have to understand that.
They don't have to invite more teams IMHO. What they need to do is to have fair trades for all of the teams. Not that one team is just an actual farm team and then Ginebra, SMC or MVP teams will harvest that good player and will be traded to them.

Unfortunately, I think this team BAD was already disbanded
Yes, they're already disbanded but their coach helped team Strong Group when Dwight played there.

they could have come back again and make the PBA more exciting to watch. It's been awhile, does PBA have a plan of having a season like that?
They have budget constraints and I think that they are permanently disbanded. About that type of season, maybe it's on the works because they've seen a success out of it.

Yup, if they can invite more visiting teams who can provide competitions where fans will comes out and support their teams not just Ginebra but also other teams who are part of the league, right now, there's no interest that fans provide, aside from Ginebra other teams are not as hot like them, there's no support or only  getting few fans which not enough to attract interest from other fans.

That entails money but if they really want to boost their income then they have to risk on that. PBA had done it once, I'm sure they can do it again. I'm not sure who's expense at that because they have to accommodate a whole team for a period of time until the conference is over. Now is the time to make more aggressive action in order to attract the fans as PBA seems already dying, if we look at the venue especially those games that are not out of town, we can only see few people watching the game.

They let the fans go after they allowed sister teams and their farm teams competes, I mean fans interest is no longer present as they knew the possible outcome, with super teams being created the balance is no longer available,  independent team can reach up to semis but expect that only the super team will be facing in the finals,

Regarding to visiting teams to compete I don't have any idea either if who's expense will it be but PBA needs to be aggressive on it if they really want to bring some fans, real competition that will delight and excite potential returning fans to watch the league.
