In that game first game, Belga showing his basketball IQ seems he cameback from his old glory days, not bad for ROS they are now slowly moving up and start being competitive again.

I guess coach yeng would stop complaining now about the super teams in the NBA. ROS currently have a good ranking, they are one of the weak teams that have a grea run so far. With their recent team, they improve to 5-4 and number 6 in standing, and since there's still plenty of games to be played, most likely they'll have a chance to be in the playoffs.

Currently, the top 5 teams now belong to the SMB and Pangilinan group.

https://pba.ph/

1. SMB
2. NLEX
3. Magnolia
4. Ginebra
5. TNT

Meralco seemed to be missing.

Only Meralco is missing the spot, though last season we manage to see Phoenix maybe this season ROS will have that chance to move up and be a contender, who knows they will manage their way to reach the semis, though with the current team standing they are still far in terms of reaching the finals, but there's no one who can dictate or conclude if they can or not.

Still got lots of game to play and it will be depends from how they will execute their system, maybe coach Yeng starting to adopt how the game is being played with his fresh squads who can really catch up with speed and skills, just need to be consistent and have that courage to bring all-in with each games that they'll playing.

Meralco has been struggling ever since they had a new head coach. It must be the problem and they can only fix that if they'll change a coach. Also, Meralco's style is more on grit and grind, they aren't good 3 point shooters as a team because only Maliksi are consistent in the line up. I don't expect them to qualify in the playoffs, it's another heartbreak for them this conference and time will come they'll decide to trade players and rebuild.

Yeah, that under the table is making sense in the PBA. It's not a secret that it's happening mostly in MVP and SMC teams, they don't even want to trade those players as they're closed with contracts until they finally end and no longer in use for the team. Just like what happened with Greg, his contract ended and got an offer to play in B League but because he can't stay there for so long and want to be with his family, it's good to see him play on MPBL and has still a good offer and contract.
He wouldn't come back if the offer is not good. I like to see Greg being helpful to this team, so hopefully that rumor is true and he'll be able to make a name again, but this time in MPBL. Personally I'm not really watching MPBL games, but I heard people say that it's more fun than the PBA.

Anyway, that is still a rumor until we see Greg in uniform of whatever team he'll be playing.
I haven't watched a game yet but the same feed back I've heard and read that MPBL games are more fun than PBA but of course, this thread is PBA but Greg was PBA as well so, that's still a consideration though.

That under the table deals will totally kill the interest of fans to watch PBA and we can already see its effect right now since we can see that there's so less interest of people to watch the live games even if the team playing is Ginebra or other strong teams in the League. Luckily Greg is already out on PBA and his on MPBL now since we maybe see a total fall down of PBA and it will be change by currently a hot league for filipino fans which is MPBL.

If their commissioner will continue to favor those three big companies on the league for sure the oldest basket league in Asia will collapsed.
When the known teams like a decade or more ago has been gone, there's something else to the league that had made them disappointed and out of the league. Because it's always been the top and known teams always get the title and it is not surprising if more teams does this in the near future.

Now, if he really coming back not in PBA but in MPBL I guess it will be a good venue for him to prove his worth, if he can dominate and make a noise on his new found home.

It will remain a rumor until we saw him playing with MPBL. Actually, if Ginebra would sign him again, that woudl help the team as Greg is the only one who can limit the production of JMF, I saw their rivals before during the prime of JMF, and he is really limited when playing against Greg.

Maybe Greg doesn't like to go back in Ginebra, but he can be useful with other teams, like the TNT where there's no legit big man.

Of course, that was back then. Maybe if C. Stand and Greg will be playing together, the inside will be hard to attack for the Gin Kings. Honestly, I just don't like the current big man of Ginebra now, they can play Japeth as the center but he isn't that big and JMF could easily move him and fish some foul,  even C.  Stand to be honest.

By the way, the first game was over and ROS have won the game. Belga had a great game with 28 points, he turned the clock back, never seen him scored like that in the past few years.

Yeah, if Gin kings still have that interest with him, but I guess that controversy between him and Boss Al' francis might not let this to happen, knowing the characteristics of Boss Al' he will play with his cards and having 3 super teams and those farm teams I guess Greg's chance to play back inside PBA is slim, while with MPBL like what I've mentioned he can still have that room to impress the fans and maybe regain his name way back when he still the best college prospect back then when he still playing and leading the ADMU.

In that game first game, Belga showing his basketball IQ seems he cameback from his old glory days, not bad for ROS they are now slowly moving up and start being competitive again.

If they have the money, they can. But just balance all of those players and teams unlike PBA, they're saying they have salary cap but it's all just a show and greater and superstar players are receiving more than the cap.
There's always a thing called "under the table", if they really think he is very valuable to the team, then they could give that salary. I don't follow MPBL a lot but since they have been considered as a pro already, that means they are into business for long term and whow knows one day they'll overtake PBA and they'll be the best league in the Philippines.

Greg is actually 35 years old already, I don't think he deserve that kind of salary because he is nearing the retirement age. That article might just be hype and readers buy the story.

Back to PBA, SMB is still leading with 5-0 record, maybe they will end undefeated this conference as they are really good.

By the way, tomorrow 2 games again.
ROS vs Northport
Hotshots vs Bossing.

When we see him playing then that rumors about the money might be true, I guess he will not just go back for nothing aside from wanting to play at home there's still big money involve behind that contract, I knew he really wanted to prove his worth and continue being competitive, he's the one that being predicted to dominate but instead he's main rival is the one who gained the glory, I'm talking about the competition between him and Abay way back their college and amateur years.

Now, if he really coming back not in PBA but in MPBL I guess it will be a good venue for him to prove his worth, if he can dominate and make a noise on his new found home.

Even these pba players could transfer to MPBL once they are out of contract, but I think they'll never surpass the PBA in terms of salary as the team owners of the top teams are billionaires.
They are still in demand as they came from PBA, there are already a lot of ex PBA players that are in MPBL and they are making names in the league. Now, the star players in the PBA are just enjoying, but this MPBL league is another way to still have a career after PBA. I think Marc Pingris although retired from PBA are still being active in basketball and are playing with MPBL.

By the way, tomorrow 2 games again.
ROS vs Northport
Hotshots vs Bossing.

Top teams are starting to win now, on the 2nd game I'm betting on the Hotshots, but on the first game, it's hard to decide but I'll likely bet on the ROS.

Because of that it resulted to the disbalance of team as there are only few teams in the NBA that has a chance to win a championship, a bigger numbers are just there to absurb the  losses and probably  win some too but they aren't as competitive as the top teams. Like this season, it will likely be Ginebra or SMB that will win a championship, even if we make a survey, that would be their answer, so it has become easy to predict.

I don't know but seems that there's no plans from PBA governors they will go with the flow and let this scenario inside PBA, no chance of independent team to play for the finals, that's last season run by Phoenix making to the final 4 is just same with what is happening from those previous semi-finals, but in terms of final's birth seems impossible to any independent team as these two giant companies who controlled the league always manage to bring their teams to the finals that's why there's no interest anymore for most fans, they already know what will happened and that's not new anymore.
It's okay if they're looking at that without plans, the league will die eventually and when they will take actions, it's too late. They think that they can always milk the Filipino fans with their kinds of games that they can be bought with the decisions of farm teams and unfair trades. If it's like the PBA before where every team was very competitive, the fans will be liking each and everyone of it. I don't see the reason of being digital and online as a sign that the viewership has declined a lot. The Filipino baller fans just don't like this kind of league anymore with how they operate it.

It has changed a lot due to the monopoly inside. Even this entertainment only, it can be monopolize as the league allows a company to owned a lot of teams, so most likely it's the SMB and TNT which will be winning a championship, and that can be proven even if we checked the past championships where we can see it's their teams that are in their.

What happened is the other teams have no chance of winning a championship or even in the championship. that gets boring and boring and Filipinos don't like that as we want to see an unpredictable game as that excites us.
While it's a league that everyone should be excited for and there's the record of history that this is the oldest one. Nowadays, people are not worrying with what it has got. And with the news that I've seen that they're giving free tickets, no one cared at all. This crazy meta of the SMC and MVP teams reigning PBA is what made the fans angry about it. For how many years, it's always like this. I want PBA to be great again but looking at it right now, they deserve the lowness of it and the criticism of fans, we fans deserve better PBA, better management.

That's actually good for them. Before it was like everyone is dreaming to play for the PBA but now, it's just an option and there are better salaries and opportunities offshore and even with our local leagues like MPBL, Pilipinas Super League and others.

I think MPBL is trying to compete with the PBA in terms of salary as it has been reported (not sure if its true) that Gregzilla wants to come back home and will be playing in MPBL, his salary was 800k per month, MPBL team tries to match it.

I don't know if MPBL can afford that, they have a salary cap for sure. Before that was a news and the numbers that came in is P50k, so P800k is too much for a team that is not more popular than the PBA. These are just rumors, if Gregzilla leave the PBA,  how come he'll choose to play the MPBL when the salary is lower, and for sure 800k is too much for a player although tall that is not anymore on his prime.
It's in the news but I don't know if the amount involve is really true.

Manila Stars list Greg Slaughter as reserve player for upcoming MPBL season

Quote
Manila’s move to list Slaughter in the roster is allowed in the MPBL even as the former Barangay Ginebra and NorthPort cager is still playing for Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka in the B2 League of Japan.

With Slaughter in the line-up, Manila can field Slaughter any time during the season once his contract expires with Fukuoka.

maybe they are just trying to hype it, but he should be receiving a good amount of salary to leave his team overseas, if that's the case then MBPL has now become a very competitive league that could compete with the PBA.

If a team can afford to bring him and who knows who's next in line, if MPBL will start bringing more known names either from overseas or from PBA we will see better competitions, I guess PBA will feel the threat and it's no longer a joke, though just like what I'm always saying the flowing money from SMC and MVP are well enough for PBA governors.

Not sure if how PBA will find that ways bring the old glory back, or if how they will manage to bring the fans to watch them back.

Young talents already got lots of options, aside from MPBL there's also overseas leagues that can cater them, unlike before where young aspiring stars always dream to step and play inside PBA, no longer that big part to inspire since they can quickly earn money once they show up and gained the interest especially with the help of social media they can be an instant prospect.
