Caguioa returning to Ginebra for 1 more season

What can you say about the news?

The veteran still want one more shot, playing for his last season in the PBA before he retires, hopefully he will be given more minutes because there's still a sparks from him. "mark the spark"  Grin

He can still contribute to the team.

He played good as a bench player and he still has his speed although not as quick as he is years ago but what is important is he is contributing in the team with his veteran experience Smiley. We saw Asi still playing although limited minutes at the age of around 46 (I think not sure). He is 40 years but he can still tutor those young players in their team.

To be honest, I'm thinking that he will be an assistant or he will have a position in the Ginebra management after his retirement Cheesy.

I'm not a hater but finally he's going to retire. He should have done it earlier. He already prove himself many times. Give him more minutes? why not, their management will allow it, maybe as a sign of respect for his contribution in their team but in close game, that's a different story. He's old, I doubt he can produce enough points especially in a close game. The hype about mark the spark isn't enough to boost him up, remember we are in reality not in anime.

Amen  Grin. Yup, i agree with you. More minutes only in blow-out games but in close games i don't think coach Tim will field him.

Don't know why he's still playing at the moment, his partner Helterbrand already retired in the PBA, maybe he got financial need that needs to be address and the SMB management give it to him. In my view, the Kings does not need his service anymore, he is seldom used, this is some sort of a payback to what he have done to the Barangay that the management still give him that one year contract.

During his time Mark Caguioa is realy exciting to watch but now that his already in the twilight of his career, I think it's better for him to relax and enjoy his time with his family. If I'm correct he should have established his own business right now and not worry about financial issues and also worry about retiring.
Mark is still competent in playing ,he is still fit for basketball and can contribute in every game,His speed and scoring average helps Ginebra to make winnings so i think having Him can give confidence to the new generation player,he can add boosting power things that very important to the Barangay team.
We can't dictate if he still wants to play he is already 40 years old but his passion on basketball is admirable, so it's good if he stays as long as the team still welcome him. He doesn't play much in regular games because Tim Cone is preparing him in the elimination as its where he is more effective.

I guess not and I think it's the time for him to retire he really showed what he got on the court and he will be remembered for what he contribute for the Ginebra Kings all this time. But if it's his fashion and can still play with the young lads then no one can stop him to continue but if I were him that's enough. Well, it's really exciting to see him playing even at that age maybe he is thinking he can beat age retirement Jaworski's but I think Taulava is ahead of that if he can still goes.

I am not sure but he is earning a decent amount in his career and osme PBA stars have their business already, just like Jayson Castro, so for sure he also have one, with his last season, he will still be earning money though he is not gonna play a lot of minutes as expected, but if the team needs something from him, he is willing to deliver and change the complexion of the game.

next conference is All Filipino cup, right? I think Ginebra can reply on his service.

There's no fresh news on Calvin Abueva yet, the latest good new was when he was allowed to practice with his teammates, after that, there's no other news was announce. https://sports.inquirer.net/367415/calvin-abueva-returns-to-phoenix-practice-despite-indefinite-ban

His team definitely need the "beast" but it's up to the commissioner but I have a feeling he will be back soon, let's just stay optimistic.
He should probably wake up with the reality that this is the 21st century and professionalism is way more tolerated I know he likes the physicality on the court but this isn't the Bird, Johnson, and Jordan era where he likely wants to. If I were him he should change his attitude on the court on just picking fights with individuals or else he'll just play street basketball where intense physicality on the game does matter for most here in the Philippines, though love watching it but hoping no fights involved.

I also miss Calvin Abueva, he is still under indefinite suspension but let's hope we hear news about this come back soon.
Abueva is one of the best PBA players and he will be a great help for the Phoenix if he plays with them.
Remember that there is one conference that Phoenix is on the top 2 spot and I think it is All Filipino Cup where they are top 2 but unfortunately lost to my favorite team SMB Cheesy.
Anyway, I also miss him playing on the court. It adds some excitement to the viewers because of his attitude inside the court. I hope that commissioner will lift his suspension.
My prediction is that, he will play on the All Filipino Cup or if not in the Commissioners Cup Cheesy.

Another good conference for the PBA, hopefully next conference as it opens soon, SMB would have a great start as they are my favorite team in the PBA.
So next conference is All Filipino, I think I like this because it's where JuneMar is very useful, SMB has an import in the presence of June Mar.
Kings set sight on All-Filipino title

Would be nice to see Ginebra vs SMB in the next finals.
More like it's close to being a reality. Both smb and Ginebra have a deep rotation when it comes to locals so looking forward to next conference which is all Filipino, it most likely an SMB sister teams that going for the finals.
Agree for SMB as JMF is really dominant over other players in the PBA but if the sister team Ginebra will play very well again like Japet, Slaughter it will be an exiting match also Im rooting for the NorthPorth next conference I hope I can see them again in the semis going to finals.
Northport if all will play healthy chances is high for them to reached the finals, they are young but composed of talents good chemistry and
a coach who can brings out the best from his squad. We've seen CStan productions and if he'll be able to get some help from his teammates
they can make some good streak coming this all-Filipino conference.

I am not excited to watch sister teams fight it on Finals. In some way, there will be letting up to let the series reach game 7. It is way better to watch non-sister teams duke it out on a Finals series, specially if it is all Filipino. The fight is more intense that way. Just my opinion.

I think there is no need to lock or create another thread because even if the PBA is on vacation, there are things that may be posted/discuss here like trading of players. I think there are movements on some of the big names to other teams next season like Cstand and Slaughter. But still it's up to OP if he want to temporarily lock the thread.

And most probably, someone will open a thread for FIBA when the event is near. We can keep this thread open for updates on players and teams and the upcoming season.

I'm thankful that I didn't bet on that Game 5 for Meralco Bolts since I am just planning if Meralco Bolts won the Game 5, that's the time I will betting on Game 6 for Meralco Bolts, but suddenly it' sover now.

Good for you bro, as for me, i'm trapped on that series. My analysis is up only until game3  Smiley.

Btw, I think it's time to close this thread since the tournament  is already done, and we should wait or create another thread for next conference which is all-filipino team.

Much better but since the FIBA is nearly coming maybe it's best also if OP to change the title thread to FIBA speculation if he want to continue the discussion in support for the Philippines team and it's also exciting to have a discussion and speculation about that topic.
