They were successful against ROS because they shot 40% from the 3point area, but can they duplicate that against SMB or Magnolia, the teams that played in the Finals last season?

That was not even a question as TNT's main offense is mostly on 3 3-point area.

Regardless of who's their opponent, they will just attempt to drain 3s.

On the other hand, teams like SMB and Magnolia are also doing well in that area aside from the fact they can also dominate the shaded area.

The better question would be if TNT can keep up with SMB or Magnolia since they are lacking a dominant and steady local big man. The All-Filipino Cup brings many disadvantages to most teams in the league as outside that conference, imports mostly cover the big man position.

Just the same thing over and over, if there's a rumor we might notice changes from how the player play the game, maybe there's already a negotiation between him and boss Al' as we noticed how good he was with CTC's system, maybe chances to get his service for the Brgy might be possible, good replacement for LA in case he choose to retire and focus with his coaching career.

Playing with SMB, if that's a trade, who would they trade for Chris Newsome? It would be easier for him if he transferred to the sister team of Meralco, which is TNT. I think they need someone like him, someone who can play defense, as TNT isn't known for being particularly defensive; they tend to focus on running the ball and shooting from outside. Anyway, let's wait for the development of that rumor. Currently, it's TNT vs ROS, and the game is almost tied after the first half, with the score at 51-50, ROS taking a 1 point lead.

Observing how he played the game seems that you are right he's fit with how coach Chot play his system more on running and dribbling the ball, Newsome can penetrate and just drop the ball to whoever open shooters like Poguy and Oftana, maybe they can trade montalbo and bring Newsome in, since that it's  a sister companies they can make it work, as we know how MVP and SMC can just twist the rules inside PBA just a call away and comm. Marcial will approve it.

Kidding aside, we just need to wait for the development of this possible trade, maybe they if ever that MVP and SMC will cross trade players it's possible to have a 3-way deal which may include Tau from SMB and a player from GSM to take Newsome from Meralco, just assuming if they'll going to push this possible trade.

Regarding the ROS vs TNT, what a win, Clarito sink the last shot for the win.

Pogoy, Oftana, Aurin, and Castro were the top performers. This guy Aurin is the new name, he is getting the trust, he could be a starter in the long run.
The key to that win is because they were sharing the ball very well. And their 3-point shooting percentage is high; they hit 40% in that game. It was a close game, and I thought ROS would be able to win, but TNT wouldn't allow that, especially with Castro who is already back. Last season they struggled since Pogoy needed to rest, and Castro was out, but now they are complete and healthy, so they are expected to make it to the playoffs.

That has been their kind of play, they focus more on offense that's why they have a lot of attempts outside. Maybe because they don't have a dominant big man so they try to utilize more their advantage, and that is the outside shooting. They have the quickness especially with Castro being the PG, that would really help them alot against a team that has a very dominant big man like the SMB, Ginebra, and Magnolia.

Well, if they are like the Warriors, it will be risky if their shots are not falling. They better be flexible and make the right adjustments depending on their opponents. If they face the SMB, which also has a lot of great 3 point shooters, and their 2nd unit is very deadly, I doubt they'll last 7 games in a series.

I don't know that Nambatac was already with the Blackwater.

Nambatac leads Blackwater past Meralco

Quote
OACH Jeff Cariaso was expecting Rey Nambatac to make an immediate impact on his new Blackwater team.

The former Rain or Shine guard did not disappoint, racking up a double-double and leading the Bossing to a 96-93 escape over Meralco Wednesday at the start of the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Nambatac finished with 27 points and a career-high 10 assists and laced his sterling performance with a defensive rebound in the dying seconds that prevented the Bolts from completing their fightback from a 67-86 deficit.

Not only Nambatac but also James Yap, both came from Rain or Shine and are now making this young Blackwater team exciting to watch. Hopefully, they'll be able to continue their good start. After all, this is an all-Filipino Cup, so they can showcase their skills to match the best in the PBA or the giant teams. According to reports, fans are eager to watch even during practice just to see James Yap, so that's the kind of champ he brings to the team.
That's what he can contribute to the team, although he'll only be playing with limited minutes due to his age, but at least he can get the attention of the fans and would help the team and the league to attract more fans to watch.

On his debut which his team won, he played over 12 minutes and score 5 points, not bad because it was 2-5 shooting.

Tomorrow we have 2 games.

DYIP vs Converge and Northport vs NLEX. (These are good match ups, no team here that is heavy favored, so we will be having a hard time to choose)

Well, we have to check the spread on this first. But if I will decide now, I'll choose Converge and NLEX, might even parlay it.

Short break for PBA as the new conference or season (not sure) will start tomorrow.

The first game at 4:30 PM features Bossing vs Blackwater, and the second game is between TNT vs Rain or Shine. I looked at my bookie to check the betting odds, but it seems they're not available yet.
That was fast, just recently we witness the PBA Finals, and after that the FIBA qualifier, and then we are back to the regular games.
it's actually a Philippine Cup, so it's very exciting to watch. here's some news about that.

PBA: Full schedule released for Philippine Cup starting February 28
It's confirmed as I already saw the first game. I bet on Blackwater to win, and some special to win by 11+.. was thinking I'm gonna cash out tonight with a big odds but this team allowed the Bolts to have a comeback and they just end up winning by 3 points. But still a win though, I'm thankful for that.
96-93 was the score.

Wow, Blackwater showing some competitiveness, just like what I tought about Mambatac, giving him that playing time and he will give you a quality game, not sure what happened between him and coach Yeng but it nice to see him back in action, let see if how he will manage to help this team to continue being competitive, sad to say that I missed watching the game as I'm waiting for it knowing that my James Yap will going to play, 5 points in 12 mins, not bad for him and a bonus win for the team.

By the way, have you read any rumors about Chris Newsome being on the trading block?
Saw this on facebook posts and youtube videos too. We will see more report about this if it will be confirm.
Chris Newsome is still playing with the Bolts, but this rumor could be true as this team is really struggling, not a good start of the new season losing to the Blackwater.

All they receive now are praise from the fans, and I'm sure they are so happy with that.

Because of their impressive games, there's a news that they receive an invitation to play with the strong teams in FIBA.
here's the full news.

Quote
Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone bared that invitations have come their way for their build-up toward the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 in July.

The veteran mentor said that European teams such as Lithuania and Slovenia have invited the Philippine team to come over, as other federations are also keen on preparing the best they could in a bid to get tickets for Paris.

“We’ve got some invitations from Lithuania, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic, we’re gonna work our way through those and see what we can do,” he said.

Nothing is set in stone yet, though, with the Philippine team given just 10 days to prepare for FIBA windows as per the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas’ agreement with other basketball stakeholders like the PBA and the UAAP.

That includes the OQT – where Gilas will be playing in Latvia – as well. “The window for us to do it is only 10 days,” said the 65-year-old bench tactician.

“That’s our agreement with the PBA, that’s our agreement with the NCAA and UAAP, and also the agreement with the Japan league – they can only release them for so long for a FIBA window. Ten days it is for us,” he added.

This one is great news, and I'm not surprised why this came up. The way Gilas played in the last two games showed how good their lineup is, and they are deserving to play with the big boys, the teams with the better ranking in the FIBA World Cup. I hope they'll televise this game so we will see if we are really strong enough to compete with the best in the world.

What do you think about Gilas now? Will they qualify for the Olympics?

About the naturalized player, which is better, Clarkson or JB?

That show how good their line up is and how also good the system brought up by coach CTC. I never thought they take a huge lead again Chinese Taipei since I though they are way more better than past years, but we see a worse performance that's why they had been dominated by Gilas.
Also good to see those invitations from European team since we can see and test how good the current Gilas roster since if they can able to perform so well and defeat those strong ball clubs then we might all agree that future is so good with Pilipinas basketball team.

I will take JB since he's not a selfish player and can't play with the team. Compare on JC where he always get the ball and shoot it although can't blame him for doing that since maybe that is the set play by old coach and they totally at huge mess at that time.

Moving forward about the development of the PH nationals  they are really doing well with CTC, we are seeing good execution and with how they are moving to rotate with the defense if they continue to develop that I'm pretty sure that we will see more from them, and  with the current lineup most are composed of young and prime players,  they can continue working together for another 3-5 years just prevent having serious injuries,  they can make it to the Olympics and continue dominate the Asian cup. Looking forward for more success of PH national hopefully they continue to impress the fans here and abroad.

This looks like the same scenario as in the first game of Gilas. The score is 27-52, and that is just after the first half. This lead will likely increase more in the second half as Chinese Taipei is struggling to make a shot because of the great defense of Gilas. The ball movement is still present, almost a perfect execution every time, so there's really no one heavily carrying the ball as everyone is sharing it effectively.

Less dribble and more passing, that has been what is happening now, and I doubt that Chinese Taipei still has the capability to come back and make this a thrilling game. I would say advance congratulations to the Philippines already.

The outcome dictates that Gilas really improves the system,  no more dribble drive but more on sharing and finding the open man to execute the design play, I like how they are sharing the court and aside from that the way they play defense which is really important, they are covering each other's back the very reason why Chinese Taipei  unable to gain a rally to try getting closer, they've been dominated from start to finished and it was a huge deficit.

Those who take the risk for that handicap are all taking their Sunday's of with a good celebration after the game, a well deserved wins for both  the players and the management 👏  well done 👏  "Sulit baga" in our language.

All they receive now are praise from the fans, and I'm sure they are so happy with that.

I just saw the betting odds for the game tonight between Gilas Pilipinas and Chinese Taipei. We thought -10 is high, but it's actually -24.5. Now, who has the courage to take that high spread? Personally, I have a little doubt about this, as it is the first time I saw the Philippines as a heavy favorite in the FIBA Asian Qualifier, and they are up against a decent team, albeit lower in ranking than the Philippines.

I might try to have some fun here; maybe I'll bet on the opposite team, as they have a very attractive x20 moneyline odds.

Maybe because people are been so hyped with past result on hongkong where they get 30 pts lead and take a win. But Chinese taipei is decent team so provably we cannot a see a same like situation on hongkong and I expect we can see a good match up here.

But for now not going to bet on either Philippines or Chinese taipei since I don't feel any excitement on this most likely we can see at the end of this sequence that Philippines would be the winner after the end of the match.

X20 money line odds though but I think for now I'm fine watching the game without placing any bets.

It would be nice if we have a head to head record for these two teams including their previous match ups so we can analyze if the line which is -23.5 now is overvalued. This is only the information I was able to search online, https://livescores.biz/basketball/h2h/chinese-taipei-19883-vs-philippines-7905

Better if we have, but unfortunately, there's no website yet that is as popular as those that record statistics in NBA games. So for now, we can just rely on what we remember about these two teams and do some further research. It may sound challenging, but it's never impossible to find information that would help us analyze the game we are betting on. At least, let's not bet blindly on this.
Stats wasn't necessary on that game as Gilas still dominate the game. I thought that the team that they faced tonight was way better than the Hongkong but I was wrong because against Hongkong, it was only a 30+ victory but tonight Gilas dominated with 50+ victory. The level of confidence must be so high. In this window, the closest rival for Gilas is New Zealand. I hope they will face each other soon so we can avenge our loss to this strong team in the past. I heard from the commentators that Gilas will be back by November for another game. I'm not sure of the mechanics, but it's good that we have something to look forward to.

I really never thought to see such kind of performance by Chinese taipei since I thought they are more better than hongkong but it seems that they are not and have many lapses on that game. They cannot penetrate inside and they are only relying on long shots especially on 3pt area since the defense of Philippines is so tight. This is indeed a great 50+ pts victory and we can say that current Gilas is really good and perfectly fit the the system of their new coach. Next opponent is New Zealand which is way more stronger team and if they can able to defeat them without any issue then problem that this mix vets and young Gilas players have huge chance to go far on this contest. They can also get a sweet revenge with this country in their last meet up.

Based on that record, Philippines has been dominating this team but not all in a blowout win, so I think -23.5 is quite high for Gilas to cover although we've see how impressive they were as for sure no team will compete in this big league unprepared.

They look prepared, and the game is already ongoing. We are in the first quarter now, and just like the Philippines game vs Hong Kong, it's a close game.
They only looked prepared at the beginning, but Gilas was able to dictate the game. As evidence, there wasn't even a quarter that Chinese Taipei had won. Despite Gilas leading by a huge margin, they are still playing with the same intensity.
