Miller's debut game was 33 points and 22 rebounds. that's a beast of an import.

That's an impressive numbers. For an import to get 22 rebounds in a game, that showed his effort on the floor. This is what the Bolts need,  an all around import that knows how to pass the ball. And 13-24 shooting, that's a decent percentage especially against Magnolia who is known for their high pressure defense.

The missing link for the Magnolia here is Paul Lee, as he was only limited to 4 points, from 1-7 shooting. With that number of attempts, he cannot get going since he is a streaky shooter, that could also mean that defense was very focus on him.

Very low scoring game and both are really focus with defense,  a great  debut for bolts new import like what you mentioned,  an all around player who can work well with the locals, someone who really can provide in all aspects of the game, while with magnolia,  I didn't expect that they will dominated by the bolts especially in the last period, though they tried to rally back but there's no enough  time to complete that attempt.

I think Meralco now has a decent chance of winning a championship. They stick with their brand which is a defensive team and they can also make such good offense with a high percentage shooting. They don't focus a lot on outside shooting, they attack the paint and does have a good ball movement, that's why they are very unpredictable. We've seen what they can do, and that is by beating the number 1 team this season, so we can increase our expectation on this team.

Yes, TNT played with RHJ bro, but unfortunately, they were beaten by ROS, not bad for the new RHJ 50 points for this game just needed some added support to win the game. Oftana alone for the locals might not be enough. They need more scorers. Not sure but adjustments might be needed for this team as it's not going to work especially if they are playing against their rival companies, that kind of individual stats will not work with the teams who always showcase team work.

They are not playing like a team, I don't understand why their 3 point shooting was not present in this game. Of course, because their import and Oftana are the only players that has been carrying the team, they are expected to get tired in the 4th, and that's what happened as TNT just can't find their shots in the 4th quarter. But then, since they are on a twice to beat advantage, there's still one game remaining, they should get that one.
I think the quarter finals hasn't started yet, they are still in a elimination games and other teams still has some games to play.

Meanwhile, we have the magnolia nd Meralco playing. Meralco with a different import and they are leading big already in the 4th quarter now.
Meralco won this game with their new import. Lofton is out, Miller is in, and what I like about Miller is that he is a good team player. I know we can all agree that Lofton is a great import, but the kind of play he brings to the PBA is one on one basket, that will not help Meralco in big games like what just recently finished.

Miller's debut game was 33 points and 22 rebounds. that's a beast of an import.

I noticed, it seems like PBA are very serious with their out of town games, they probably see a need to get the attention of the fans again.

You can tell by looking at the venue, people are not watching anymore in Manila, so they want to bring that hype again and they'll start by having more out of town games. I hope it's not too late yet for them.

You guys have an idea what this team is?

Report: Dwight Howard Signs Contract with Philippines Team amid NBA Comeback Hopes

Quote
Eight-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard intends to sign with the Philippines-based Strong Group, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The deal will run through the Dubai International Basketball Championship, which tips off Jan. 19 and concludes Jan. 28 in the United Arab Emirates.

I haven't heard this team yet, maybe you guys know, please tell me their players.
IMO, for a team to sign Dwight, this team might be a rich team, as we know Dwight isn't an ordinary player although he is not getting any younger.
I have seen this news and I wasn't aware of the Philippines team (Strong Group) in Dubai but it seems that it's been there and I've heard about players going there so basically, it's the prize that is quite high there. And it is not that Dwight only that they've recruited but also other former NBA players like with Andre Roberson, Kuya Andray Blatch and what's even better is their coach is going to be Brian Goorigan who was the former head coach of the Bay Area Dragons. Wow, this might not yet connected to the PBA but it's entirely now connected to the Philippine Basketball and who knows soon, we might see more of the former NBA players play in our league.

Back to the ball game.

We have to games today, Blackwater vs NorthPort in the first game and ROS vs TNT in the second game.

The interesting game that i have in mind is the second game, TNT might be playing without an import so that ML odds is attractive for me.

We are wrong with our expectation, they are actually playing with an import and I can see on the boxscore now.

RHJ with 6 points already, 2nd to Oftana, so it's safe to assume that he is fully healthy in this game.
The odds seems telling us that TNT will be playing without an import as they were -2 before this game. I think I'm gonna take this chance to do some live betting action now and I will be betting on the TNT with 2.25 ML odds.

Edit : sorry, the new import is still RHJ, but he is a different guy, he is Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson the brother of the old import of TNT.

Kidding aside,, let see if how things will work for SMB, but I like JMF to play back the chance is far better with him inside the court.

Honestly, I miss the old SMB which was coach by Leo Austria. Although he is still part of the coaching staff now, but their system is very different compared to the times when they won multiple championships and Fajardo dominated the race of the best players either in season or finals MVP contest.

If you still remember, JMF and SMB made a history when they came back from 3-1 deficit against Alaska in the Finals, and it happened only when JMF returned from injury to take a 3 win streak and win the Finals. I think that was an all Filipino Cup.

Yeah, that's the time where JMF is really dominating and the death 5 was all on thier primes, it was the time where you will say that the chance of winning the title is always possible for them, just missing the grandslam to make that squad historical, always missing one more title to win it.

In terms of JMF presence, his basketball skills got improve more after Fiba and for sure once he feel that confidence back, and no injury that affects his movements, SMB can take this and might be possible to win another title.

Doubt that to happen since even if he's back still for sure that he's not in 100% condition so provably there's minutes restriction and they will not gamble to play more harder since its a huge loss for his team if he gets injured again.

So I expect that he will not play the same for couple of games but once he feels that everything is alright again for sure we can see a classic Fajardo dominating the floor again.

They really need him on elimination that's why they need to be more careful on him so that they can possibly get back his 100% health and get the best result since his contribution is really huge since he can dominate the floor also can do a lot of things which their team can benefit on.

Even if Fajardo is around 70 percent, they could still get a decent numbers from him. The only problem i see here is that their new import is not a complement to Fajardo's plays, i mean they both play on the low post so limiting Fajardo's minute is not a problem, they might revert back their import once Fajardo is 100 percent healthy.

That would not be a problem if the coach would manage it effectively. Both are dominant inside but if they will share the ball well, a good chemistry will be created which is good for SMB.  Fajardo may not be 100%, so I think he'll play with limited minutes, just like when Terrence Romeo came back from injury which I think until now he is still into minute restriction.

We know how smart  SMB's management, they will not let JMF to force himself and they will utilize everything to make sure that he will back in his normal shape, as of this moment they are competing and they are doing everything to keep their presence and still consider as a good competitor from this season, I'm sure with JMF's full recovery the chance of advancing to another level will be much easier to them, though it's PBA and we never know what's the plan from the big bosses..HAHAHA..

Kidding aside,, let see if how things will work for SMB, but I like JMF to play back the chance is far better with him inside the court.

This is really great development from Philippine basketball since they successfully acquired Howard to their roster and not only that they also have Andrey Blatche and Andre Roberson which adds more the excitement to watch this team perform on their upcoming tournament. For sure Philippines release a huge paycheck there to make Howard sign to Philippines that's why now they are strong contender now in that Asian basketball league. For sure for those following that tournament Philippines is not their heavy favorite since they see those great guys added on the roster and now I'm excited to know if they could able to take the championship for the line up they got this season.

Speaking of Junemar Fajardo, good news to SMB fans here as he will be back on January 12 on their game against Blackwater, so more likely they will be having a twice-to-beat advantage going into the semis.

Indeed it's a good news. I hope he has fully recovered from injury so we can see the same JMF before the injury happened.

They really need him because elimination game or a best of 3 game is different from the regular season game, so it's good for SMB. Now I can say that they have a legit chance of winning a championship.

Thanks for sharing @bisdak40. I thought JMF will be out for the season since that has been the case in the past. I didn't pay much attention on what kind of injury he has but since he is set to return this January 12, this is a big news not only for SMB but on the PBA in overall. As we all notice, the PBA audience has significantly decrease, so having JMF especially if SMB will play Ginebra in the Finals, this would possibly result to a sold out game.

Anyways, PBA will be resuming this friday with the following games.

First game Bossing vs Northport
2nd game Rain or shine vs TNT

Game starts at 4;00 PM

First game, It will be Northport for me, while on the 2nd game it's with ROS, TNT has no import, right? So I'm betting against them.

I see him being one of the greatest shooter, but he doesn't have the capability of Scottie who could grab defensive rebounds due to his quickness. Oftana had the height, so it's hard to stop him when he is driving the ball, and with his high percentage 3 point shooting, that's another thing that will  make him scary to his opponents.

Too early though, but we have to be optimistic with this guy, they aren't building anyone better than him, so it's safe to say that TNT wants him to be their best player in the future. Castro may retire soon, they'll be needing a good PG too, I don't know if Mikey Williams would fit on the role, bu t hopefully he win and would learn how to facilitate the ball well.

Calvin Oftana is one good player but carrying a team to a championship level is another thing, i mean he can't do it alone if Pogoy and Mikey Williams are not there to help him. Just like Fajardo, without those 3-point shooters that he can pass the ball to when he will be doubled, they can't win championships.
