And because the WNBA is already over, I am now waiting for the NBA to start but I am thinking of locking this thread and making a new one for preparation for the WNBA next season because I would like to add up Polls, so I could have asked if which team will be champion and other stuff that could be useful in a thread for WNBA season 2023,
I was actually hoping this thread to be like the NBA thread and that the discussion will continue through to the next season, but since you like to add polls, it seems to be better that way. It will be an all-in-one thread where you can see bets, discussions, and pulse through polls.
Yeah, me too and that might be the right thing for now.
The growth of WNBA fans here in this thread is slow so might as well just combine them. Unlike in NBA, there are way many members sharing their ideas and bets so it's okay to divide it into two, betting and discussion to avoid massive posts in one thread.

I recommend waiting if this thread will grow because WNBA is a short game and we will be resting for 8 months before we could see the next tip-off.
Then, OP could lock this and reconstruct a new one with the availability of a poll.

Edit: ^Oh I miss the last post, sorry, bad headache. Yes, I agree with all you said.

Well, I was also thinking that this thread just might have 5 to 6 people that have posted and recently just the 4 of us are liked totally coming back and forth to this thread, and because there are not so many people that want to discuss WNBA I think I will not lock it anymore and continue as it is until the next season because I think I will not get much on the polls but maybe in the future I can upgrade this thread, but for the time being I think I will just let it stay for further discussion on some news, updates, drafts, trade, and whatever we can discuss as long as it is WNBA,

Well, you can't blame them if they want Brittney Griner back on US soil. Though he committed a crime in Russia, she is their people, and they want her back. She can continue her jail time in US.

But I doubt Putin will give in. I think Russians are very strict and probably will not allow Griner to continue her jail time anywhere else.

For me, I think she can be swapped as long as she will still serve jail time in the US because she had done something illegal to be jailed there so I don't think it is great that she will be just released if got swapped by the most heinous criminals history or America has ever detained, and I think we had the same thought about it,

And you are right Putin will surely don't let that happen and Brittney Griner needs to serve 9 years in prison in Russia, this is what she gets in violating the law and have illegally gets something illegal to that country,

Well, Further news about the WNBA star in a Russian prison, Brittney Griner, and this is about Roy Jones that was awarded Russian Citizenship in 2015, said that he will go to Mr. Putin to secure the release of Brittney Griner but I am truly against this if she has committed a crime on Russian Soil then she needs to pay her in jail in the Russian prison,

It's up to you bro. You are the OP so it's your call.  Wink
Or, you can just post updates like what I said above, just like how it goes with the NBA discussion thread.
Because there will be drafts, trades, and free agency.
The other thread though is NBA betting which is being locked by @stadus whenever the NBA ends because its sole purpose is only for sharing bet predictions.

The only difference is you combined it here with discussion and betting.  Cheesy

I just want one thread that I think we can put out our discussion and predictions at the same time that is why I combined it in one and because I am a lazy person I don't really want to move from one thread to another thread just by maintaining it and as you have said I can make an update for the news, drafts, free agency, for the WNBA, but I realize that I want to make a poll on who's going to win for the finals, but because I have already established my thread I can not add a poll for it, and actually it is really my 1st time making a poll for a thread, but I think I will just wait for further announcement on the WNBA if they will have drafts, trades and the start of the 2023 season, I think I will lock this and move on to that thread but for now we can still use this thread for further discussion on news and what may happen for the future on the WNBA,

It's not a typo brother. She really did 10 blocks in 1 game and that's against the Detroit Shock.
Here is the clip.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhB6llaHV2w

I meant is the Block it should be assist, but that Lisa Leslie having that much block, was really superb back in her days, and with her natural height she can surely block whoever shoot on the perimeter, a truly good performance indeed, well apparently all good things must come to an end because on February 4, 2009, she announce her retirement,

Yeah right, summing it up and I agree with you, after that great adjustment from the Suns

we all don't expect that move from the coach of Aces, bringing a bench players and knocking those big shots, something
that surprises us all. Hope to see more out of him now. After that great performance, she might gain more exposures now. I used to remember Steve Kerr making that game last shot, and the rest is history for this top shooter turn coach star.

After that great Performance for both teams, I was surprise by the WNBA now, they can surely make plays they surely have many players that can shoot on the deep, and can make good defense aswell, well Steve Kerr is a great player back then but right now his skills in basketball have already faded because of his age and right now he is getting some perfect games back,

^Good comparison and I think a lot of NBA players also started with just some minutes out of the bench but they maximized that opportunity to gain stardom now. Jordan Poole, Gary Payton II, and a lot more. This should give hope to those who are sitting on the bench. If given a chance, take it like there's no tomorrow.

So this is also a discussion thread, we might as well get ourselves updated on every movement that will happen. Free agency, trades, and drafts.
Like this for example.
https://www.cbssports.com/wnba/news/wnba-offseason-storylines-free-agency-new-prioritization-rules-expansion-highly-anticipated-draft-lottery/

Quote
First and foremost, MVP runner-up and reigning scoring champion Breanna Stewart will be an unrestricted free agent. Her decision to sign just a one-year deal with the Storm last winter in order to play with Sue Bird in her final season signaled to many that she may be on her way out of Seattle. It's also important to note that the Storm used their core designation on Jewell Loyd, so they cannot use it to make sure Stewart stays.
I will be following where Breanna Stewart will end up, that's for sure. I like how good she plays and there's a chance other teams will have a higher percentage for a championship game if they can get her.

Yeah, it's the adjustment that Aces made during game 4 that surprises the Suns,

Using one of their reserves who contributed a lot to something that might not in the game plan of the Suns, they are focused on
starters and the legit scorers, unknowingly that this player are capable and really shines high after being given a chance
to play with good minutes inside the court. No doubt with Sun's caliber they earn a big respect to all fans and viewers who
follows them from each game that they've made.
Surprised them. Ain't all of us surprised? I mean maybe even the hardcore Aces fans were shocked that their last offensive wave will come from a bench player. She was like a secret weapon that was preserved in ice then they just thawed her when they badly needed a savior. Almost like a superhero movie.  Grin

I think it was a typo from the site I copied it, it should be an Assists and not blocks, I really think WNBA is here to stay despite many people that don't like it as long as there are people like us that are still appreciating it, It will surely continue, and for me, players are constantly evolving with their craft, as I am looking at that list Candace Parker was really something but surely after realizing that she is already 36 years old, but maybe she will still be that good within the age range of 40,

The Connecticut Sun was perfect at game 3 but there will always be adjustments and the Las Vegas Aces did great at how they will counter it.
By using their reserves. They knew it was difficult to stop Jonquel so the Aces relied on speed by adding another guard. Riquna Williams and she shine at the best time they needed it.

I liked their domination in game 3 but the Aces have seen to their strategy aswell, I thought that game will be their retaliation against the lead points of the Las Vegas Aces, and Alyssa Thomas was really firing up, having that triple-double performance, was really amazing but it was not enough to the determination to win of the Aces, and that bench warmer was the one the Aces needs to have their thanks in providing an extra score for the game,

That's nice. Thanks. Brings back memories, especially the era of Lisa Leslie (those are blocks, not assists). I was young back then watching WNBA games on a small television.
Look at Candace Parker though, she still made 2 triple-double this year despite her age.

After you said that I was constantly thinking that Riquna Williams may be a hidden talent for the Las Vegas Aces, and they are trying to suppress her from making a blatant move, and have taken the right opportunity for them to use her, but this is just a maybe, a theory that will remain that way as long as no one ever said something to it,

It seems because of the pressure they feel and that the Las Vegas Aces are likely giving to them they seem to just lose control of the game, I really don't want to see this but I think they also need a defender that is likely to shoot outside, like a Draymond Green type of player, so in some cases like this that player will be sure to hit the 3 point shots, they surely need those players to score 1st to reserves Alyssa Thomas's stamina in playing under Crucial instance, there is next season and adjustments to the team will likely be needed to make,

Even though they lost the game the incredible performance of Alyssa Thomas is very remarkable in the WNBA because she become the 1st WNBA player to record a back to back triple-doubles in one season, and WNBA history will surely change the pace of their play, because of this Triple double this season, Sheryl Swopper was the 1st to record the 1st triple-double on the WNBA on July 27, 1999, and other WNBA players that recorded their Triple doubles and what year,

SHERYL SWOOPES - July 27, 1999, 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists

Their problem most of the time is when their opponent is in the lead, they start to lose control of the game.
Connecticut Sun needs some powerful shooters. Heideman is the only one I can see shoot and it's an awkward form that takes time before she sets it up.
William is a perimeter jump shooter and she became less powerful when the playoffs started. She doesn't play like that, she is also an assassin but it seems like she lost confidence. I don't know what happened.

True. It was an experiment but luckily it worked.
They took the risk and it was a fruitful one. I guess they realized that all eyes are on their offense like Gray which leaves a heck of space for other players. Now they are champions.

I am taking the Aces in Game 4 in their series against the Sun. I believe that Chelsea Gray will be able to adapt against the defense of Bonner if Sun will replicate the same defense they had last game. I also believe in Coach Hammon to be able to address the things they lack and counter the defense and offense that the Sun has shown. The Aces know that if they lose this game, it will be an anybody's game in Game 5. They do not want that to happen and will try to close this series at this game. Good luck with your bets!

Congrats on taking a great win you surely stick to the Las Vegas Aces at the very end, while I have to stick to the Connecticut Sun, even though it is risky I want to try my luck and have a good opportunity to win big because of the slight difference with odds, it was not the same as game 3 but despite that, it was really a great game, even though Alyssa Thomas got another triple-double it was not enough and right now Joyner Holmes, Nia Coulden and Bria Hartley was not there with the Sun, and the Las Vegas Aces have really seen to all of their play,

^Congratulations bro. You won it despite losing the game 3 bet, you came and ended it strong by taking the Aces bet.
Chelsea Gray as we discussed last day, she needs to find a way to get away from the Bonner defense and she did. Finish the game strong at 20 points.
But the talk of the day is Riquna Williams. A bench player who stepped up her game by contributing 17 points in just 22 minutes of playtime. We could say she didn't waste the opportunity that was given and became dominant.

Another triple-double for Alyssa Thomas. Wow.

Aces won and a big congratulations to them. They truly deserve it.

I was also very shocked by Riquna Williams's performance, and after that game, I looked at her previous scores, in game 1 she only got 3 points, in game 2 she got 1 rebound and 5 points game 3 she got 3 points, while on game 4 she might have gotten familiar with the game style of the Aces she got 2 rebounds and 17 points, this could be another rising star for the Las Vegas Aces, next season, it was really a close game and the Aces just know what they will do, so that's it,

Another great performance for Alyssa Thomas, another Triple Double we might see a Russell Westbrook (in his prime) on the WNBA right now, and I think the latent talent for these female players is showing great potential to progress we can never know if the WNBA will be like the way the NBA has gained fans and surely an audience because of this shift, right now there are triple-double on the WNBA,

They were forcing shots from the 3, which was not their expertise. They had few possessions they forced a three that did not hit and some just total air ball.

Chelsea did a good job getting away from her defense. Riquna Williams was big help hitting crucial shots. A'ja Wilson remains a good leader and keeps reminding the team to keep focus even when they are in the lead.

Congratulations to Las Vegas Aces for their first championship. They deserve it.

A lucky pick from the bench, something that adds up for the team, it was a close match and Suns gave everything but

Aces really destine to win this title and appears not to let these opportunities to pass. They did everything and adjusted to how
Suns brings that tight defense. A good congratulation to Aces a well-deserve wins, nothing to say with the performance they keep the momentum and they didn't allow the Suns to come back and snatch this game to tie the series.

It's very obvious that they're really eager to win and gave their best to maintain a good performance right from the beginning to the final match. Suns also showed up a promising performance but they had a hard time snatching the final spot from the Aces. It was indeed an exciting match but I'm sure that the Suns will still do everything to regain their title.
