Well, it ends up being something to be expected, given the great appreciation of Bitcoin in recent weeks.
It starts to be profitable to turn on some machines again to mine.

@philipma1957 At this point, which machines are now viable to connect?

With BTC price on it's current trajectory, I don't think we should expect any decline in difficulty for the remainder of the year.

How is the profitability of miners, with the difficulty rising, and the fees so low?

Is this moment proof that mining can be profitable, without having absurd fees?

For cheap power mining works.

A t21 turns a profit at 8 cents even 10 cents

Since I see BTC price breaking through the $70K barrier, I don't see much reason for big miners to let up on the hash rate "pressure" any time soon.

looks like we are back to the 2-4% incremental pace again, price is holding up and the summer is over, i would guess many underclocked gears are now operating at stock settings and possibly even overclocked in the next month or two.

there looks to be a shot at 100th difficulty in the month of November.

It is early and we are down. Some may be from the hurricane. 4 million are out of power and we have a few mines in the Carolina states and I think Alabama has a host.
But these are all small and may represent 1% tops.

For a while, it looked like it could be more but right now it's as flat as it could be

I don't really recall when it was the last time we were off by less than a block after the one-thousand mark, but I'm sure it will go up again, that last adjustment of -4.6 % really came out of nowhere, and fractal mining rewards are getting slimmer and slimmer, it was over $30 a week ago and now sitting at $8 after crashing to $6. I would be more concerned about the bearish sentiment and a possible energy crisis than what those guys could pull off the network.

looks like a strong adjust for miners.

-3% to -5%

and price shifted up.

we were as low as 3.8 cents a th

by tomorrow we may be close to 5 cents a th

that is 31% up in profits

it will help a 10 cent miner with really good gear.

a t21 set to 160 th will earn 8 bucks and burn 6 bucks at 10 cents a kwatt

that would mean a small profit of 2 bucks a day vs 8 cent daily profit at 3.8 cents a th

so the cut off is a 16 watt per th miner (t21 set to 160 th does 16 watts a th)

at 10 cents

vs a 13 watt miner which is the s21xp at 10 cents  that would do 10.26 earn and 9.60 burn profit of 60 cents with that 3.8 cent per th.

Merged mining doesn't do that good I'm afraid. I wasnt seeing a good ratio on F2pool, I dont recall the exact value but it was nothing like 2:1 it was a busted flush to be honest.

it is indeed 2:1 ratio, this is how fractal Bitcoin works, the procotol accepts 2 blocks on fractal own chain and then 1 block on BTC blockchain (merged), then back to 2 blocks on fractal.

so if people mine 99 blocks, 33 of them will be merged mined, this is what I understand from reading their documentations, correct me if I am missing something.

I'll have to go and take a look at the stats page when I get a minute, but I seem to recall it was 77:1 or something like that, but it wasnt clear what that actually meant.

The total hashrate for Fractal as of right now is about 220EH, that's like 30% of the entire SHA256 hash power that we know exists, that much can't be coming from home miners, and quite honestly anyone who mines Fractal Bitcoin on permissionless mode is just a gambler, they are hopping for the price to spike, otherwise, just Megrge mine it and still make the same BTC + whatever you get from Fractal, it's 2:1 ratio so it isn't all that bad.

As for home miners, they are done for the most part regardless of which coin they mine, the game has changed, and the ship has sailed but some people don't want to see the truth.

I think you're probably correct the home mining ship has sailed, the only chance home miners have now is solo/lottery mining.

Even with 100's TH/s available to home mining, you would only benefit if you had completely free electricty.

solo mining is meh.

and large home mining is done.

but there are spots for a guy with a decent unit or 2 that needs winter heat.

also a few people have very limited cheap power.

say 3 -7kwatts but yeah mining is now industrial level

Fractal is a dud for the home miner, just not profitable. The only way it would work for the home miner is if there were solo pools for it. Spiderpool suggests they have one in operation but it looks like invite only, so again pointless.

Home miners pushed aside yet again by big farms.

Actually here is an interesting page to watch hashrate estimates for Fractal https://explorer.unisat.io/fractal-mainnet/mining

We should ignore the "Merged Mining" numbers since those mine BTC as well, but look at "Permissionless Mining", we now have 20EH mining Fractal only, and were as high as 34EH, so that's 3% to 4% of the total available hashrate, with the current pace being -6% it could be 3-4% "Fractal" and the rest is just "luck", so it's possible that there is no actually hashrate drop, or maybe it's just a tiny 1% or so.

We shall find out when FB hype is done with.
