Hey why don't you do 50-50 for both Huh
In that ase ypu will be able to invest in 2 diverse things at the same time..that will for sure benifit you for the long run... Its anyways good if one goes down and the other goes up you won't loose that much that you were about to loose in.. deflation ...

I would split that some and invest in both. Bitcoin is always good investment and you can't go wrong with that but ETH is also perspective coin worth investing. Still the larger amount I would invest in bitcoin and the smaller in Ethereum, let's say 75:25 ratio in favour of bitcoin.

Ethereum was $220 a few days ago, and now it is $290 aproximately, it is about 35% - 40% in a few days.. I think it is growing more faster than bitcoin, and it has a lot of potential to keep growing more until the end of this year, probably ethereum is going to go to $500 by december, so it is more than 100% if you buy right now. Maybe bitcoin can go to $6000 to, but ether is giving more profits.

I would go all in with Bitcoin. Sure it's usually not advised to go all in with one coin, but Bitcoin is valued much more. The price is down now but it'll go back up. When the price rises you could always use the profit gained and put that into other Ether.

I would split it as well.
Maybe 25% ether and 75% bitcoin. Ether seems to be cheaper at the moment than bitcoin, but we live in uncertain times.
That is why the bigger parte of money would go into the more stable currency at the moment.

Hi All,

I have just over £500 to spend and I'm not sure where I should be investing this.

Do I buy a small fraction of a bitcoin or buy 2 ethers?

What would you do?

I'm looking for some long term investment.

Also, i'm hoping to contribute £100 per month towards either one but not sure which direction I should be taking.

Many Thanks

Why not both? Bitcoin and ETH are close contenders and both are excellent choice for future investment as well. So I would suggest you to split up your total invest-able money and buy into both bitcoin and ETH. If you are thinking about long term investment, then nothing like it! Also I suggest you to split up your monthly investment of 100 Euro in to two parts and invest in to both. This way you will be able to average out your investment price.

I am doing the same thing. Even though I started in bitcoin since a long time now, but recently started with ETH. I am putting 70% in to bitcoin and rest 30% of the monthly amount in to ETH now. Based on the market dynamics, I may change the percentage but that looks good as of now.
That is good idea but for me it is not a good idea to invest both if you are wanted to be safe and hold your bitcoin for a long time for better investment you should choose only invest in bitcoin because the movement compare ethereum and bitcoin is different. as you can seen the movement of the price of bitcoin is more high than the movement of ethereum for a longer period of time..
So the best choice to invest is bitcoin ..

Cut the amount in three halves. Invest first in Bitcoin, second in Ethereum and third in ICO (look for some promising one and you will make profit for sure). After a month compare your investments and you will have the answer. Then shift all the money to most productive one.
Why to believe on others suggestion. Cast your own research.

I think you should diversify your portfolio and invest half of the amount in Bitcoin and other half in ethereum. Bitcoins is the mother of all crypto and hence is popular whereas ethereum is the platform holding most ICOs and hence is a very widely used platform.

if you looking for profits should buy a quality token or altcoin, if only have a small amount of capital. avoid buying bitcoins and keep them because bitcoin have high fluktuatif value, or you can invest in mining.

Well, I suppose the profit is going to be the same, cause if they rise the same. You will buy small amount of bitcoin but the price will rise a lot, but you can but bigger amount of Etherum which price will rise so much, but you will have big amount of coins. But on your place I would use Bitcoin, cause of I'm more sure about this coin.

Why not to go to the altcoin if you are having limited amount to invest in the crypto, as far as i can see the ether and bitcoin looks same right now, but the price of bitcoin was too high if you are not having a lot of money invest in both will never give you a decent profit

Price is irrelevant. The question is what is going to return more over time, and price has no bearing on that. A 15% gain is a 15% gain, no matter if your starting base is $500 or $1,000,000. Buying an altcoin just because it costs less per coin doesn't mean it's going to go up more percentage-wise. Bitcoin is denominated to 8 decimal places, so there's no concern about not being able to buy "enough" to justify the purchase. Your main concern is the percent of price appreciation, not the actual dollar amount change.

Just split your investment to avoid huge loss in case of bear market. Why put all eggs in single basket? Make a smart investment for better ROI but dont forget to do your homework.Dont invest amount which you cant afford to lose..

for what you bother yourself by dividing your investment ,, I think more to invest in one place (coin) and if one moment happened the price suddenly down we can increase the investment amount ,, and keep repeat when back down .. until the moment where we will get multiple benefits

If you're looking to buy for the longer term, I'd go with BTC. I actually did buy a full coin when it was $2100 and then again when it was $4000. I have since also bought ETH but I didn't "feel" it (as an investment) like I feel for BTC.

One thing though, when the price goes down after buying, I've never felt like "oh no, I lost my money". The annoyance for me comes from not being able to purchase MORE coins at a lower price because I bought high. In other words my thinking shifts from fiat value to crypto value and how many coins I can own.

(eggs in more baskets, reminds me that I need to buy more IOTA)

Why not both? Bitcoin and Ethereum are very popular coin on market. Bitcoin drops a bit. But i think it begins to rise again. Ethereum seems very stable. Just waiting for the big announcement. If were you, i will go 50/50. Bitcoin when crash, the altcoins are rising. So if you fall on Bitcoin. Ethereum can cover your loss since altcoins are rising. It's more safe than buying one coin alone. Remember, don't put all your eggs on one basket.

Anyway, the are a lot of good coins out there. STRAT, WAVES, XMR or XEM. They are cheap and will give you good profit in the long run. But if you want to be more safe. Buy Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Its up to you what coin do you want to buy or what coin is better for you and what do you think will give you high profit in the future. Because bitcoin and ethereum is both good coin and potential coin and for sure those people have that will earn a lot of profit . So its better if you buy bitcoin and buy also ethereum . But if you doubt its better make a research so you can know what coin is better.

Both are likely to move in tangent, however, BTC has a lot more history and backing. I would start there, then diversify into other coins.

My advice to you will be to divide that capital that you are willing to invest in two parts. Keep part one for bitcoin and part two for ethereum. Both are good according to me for a long term investment. But bitcoin price is currently high so my advice is to keep a buy order in some exchange at lower price and wait for that price to touch - since the market is unstable at the moment you may just be lucky and get hold of some BTC. As for ethereum, it is obviously a good choice for long term hence but it and sell it when it touches 350$

hi,

ive got accounts with bittrex & coinbase. how do I do this:

"so my advice is to keep a buy order in some exchange at lower price and wait for that price to touch " ?

Cheers

I dont use bittrex so you have to figure this out yourself - but I will explain what I meant again : I checked bitcoin price is above 3800USD/BTC at the moment. So place an order to buy bitcoin at a lower price than this. This price is too big and the profit margin at this price will be smaller when you sell. But if you are desperate you can try buying at this price as well, no worries.

What I suggest you is to place buy order of BTC in exchange for USD at price lower than this - it will complete only when the price is touched - that is a risk because it may never go down again. You have to decide whether you are desperate to buy it at current price or wish to wait since at lower price same volume of USD will give you bigger volume of BTC.

I hope you understood my point.

Cool, thanks for your explanation. I get it now. Cheers
