this is starting to look a like big fuck up now. first they promise demo and then lure buyers with august delivery by deliberately moving to mid/end of september since that stupid clause allows them to be late by a month. i won't be surprised if that also changes to october due to some technical problems when its actually financial problems. all the privilege of having preorder just went down the drain cause we should've had machines on hand in mid september and already hashing by now.

When all these companies say "not late if by 1 month", I always take that to mean that's the real date. So, I was always planning on the end of Sept, never expected to see anything in Aug.
I guess that's why it doesn't bother me that much, since I already had that timing baked into my plans...

They have nothing for hashing at the moment.
I think we will not see A4, because the project would be closed due to lack of funding. Too little people interesting in scrypt cryptocurrency.
Only new big LTC pump can something change. But the chance of the pump very small.

where did it say on that link they would be showing the A4 there?

You missed nothing - it doesn't say they are showing it.  The idea is to ask them IF they are showing it.  We don't need to see an ASIC, there's already a video for that.  We want to see a board or controller.

Re-open the dialogue, push them to communicate, and demand an update for the main page with new information.  They've taken a lot of money from a lot of people - they need to be held accountable for their (lack of) actions.

Waiting until September 30th to communicate with them and hope for best doesn't seem to me to be in anyone's best interest.

What can people do? Storm the factory and demand a demo? All anyone can do is wait and hope for the best. If they are honest business people then they won't leave A4 buyers holding the bag. ASIC machine builders don't have the best track record.

I'm in Florida and would like to order a unit in the group if it's coming to US ....whenever, like most say towards end of september or even Oct.
I'm a UPS shipper and can send a label for drop off at uPS store or can send a call tag so whoever is receiving the order has hardly anything to do.

Running A2- 88 now and this is like 3 of them for same power.

Would really appreciate an up date if not too late.
Thanks,

Just PM me and I can check with Inno to see if we can add you to our group buy order we already have placed.  I will give you the details of how our group buy is setup here in the US.

I dont thinks so.
I think they have max 30-50  pre-ordered A4 units
That's total units or units per purchaser?
I ask because I know large farms are antsy for the power reduction per MHs...
That 30-50 is way off.  There was more than that on the US group buy, which doesn't include individuals who purchased enough units to ship to location of their choice and larger farms as usao mentions.

Don't you looooooove how offensive my name sounds?

You will find out soon enough like the rest of us if we were ripped off or if we received what we ordered.  A month is not a long period of time to find out.

My point was that Innosilicon would serve everyone's best interest, including their own, if they would just reach out publicly and provide an update on their website like they did on July 1st.

This isn't hard to do, would eliminate an enormous amount of uncertainty, and would quash many rumors and suggestions.

Innosilicon touted themselves as the "World Most Profitable A4 Dominator Miner" and have raised such high expectations.  If this is going to be that miner, substantial communication and even a little evidence, like a video of the miner, would go a long way.

Here's a simple question for Innosilicon - has anyone asked and confirmed Innosilicon will  be exhibiting the best scrypt miner in the world on September 1st at SMIC?  Seeing is believing!

where did it say on that link they would be showing the A4 there?

the link says "We will demonstrate our latest IP solutions in all SMIC advanced technology nodes."
but the site has specific different selections under "IP solutions"  and "Crypto-Mining ASIC"

so to ME, that says they will be showing some boards or controllers, NOT an ASIC?

or am i reading it wrong? :/

Agreed, communication and PR on this miner has NOT been up to Inno's standards from the past.  So this has been a little strange.  I will give you that.  I hope they do demo the A4 at the show, but I have not heard anything from them on it.

Curious to see if the new A4 uses a pi at all.... I imagine it would as it's an easy interface. Wonder if anyone can confirm.

Per the press release, it is a RPi.
http://www.innosilicon.com/html/news/14.html

The pre-order period is still open and has been for nearly two months.  The "limited supply of first batch, it will be offered at 1st come, 1st served pre-ordered approach." is a growing a concern as there is no apparently no limit to the number, or time, of pre-orders to be placed after two months.

Combine that with knowledge that they still don't have a working or demonstrable miner,  Innosilicon would do well to have an update on September 1st as they haven't released any new information to the public since July 1st.  All the information we have post July 1st comes from email communications from people who claim to be in contact with Innosilicon, not Innosilicon itself.

You are more than welcome to email them yourself.  The email address is published here and you will get a response.  May not be a fast response, but they do respond.  Ask your questions directly if you question what has been shared here.

If you have an order placed with them please email them for updates.  If you don't have an order placed yet then you have nothing to worry about.   Grin  Some of us have orders placed, money sent, and are part of this group buy.  So we are waiting patiently for updates.

I found out that the first 26 pins are the same on both versions. (http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/28589/is-the-26-pin-pi-cobbler-compatible-with-the-40-pin-raspberry-pi).

What this means is you can force the old ribbon cable on to it, (the pins don't bend that much), get a downgrade cable (https://www.adafruit.com/products/1986) or a stacking head (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1979) and chop pins 27 and 28 to make more room.

Here is an interesting thought. I imagine the A4 to be using the new raspberry pi's? The old model A/B with 26 GPIO pins are so hard to get nowadays.

Reason why I ask is that my model A has broken down but I have like 3 B+'s lying around but the GPIO pins don't match. 26 v 40. Has anyone tried modifying a B+ to work with an A2?

Not sure if it will work for asic stuff. My KNC Titan uses a Raspberry Pi B+ 512mb and that is it...folk tried ..but the asic stuff i heard is pretty 'specific' newer stuff did not work on
the older stuff..i'd assume that would be the same.

Then ebay would be another solution...
