how is the project going?

from discord

...

So is this a private kind of discord channel? I haven’t seen a link to it anywhere, if it is at all publicly open.

I don’t have a link but it is the FPGA section.

Someone must have the link.

I think it is an invite link.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
February 10, 2019, 08:24:19 PM
yup thats one reason i swapped one of the 1080tis to the ubuntu box. the windows miner and the *nix miner talk to the cards differently, at least in the initial miner. i believe in *nix the acorns can directly use the pcie lanes right to the card whereas the windows miner all communication is through the cpu, then the card. i might be wrong of course.

in the ubuntu rig that card will be in a x8 slot and a 215+ in the mobos M2, so 4 pcie lanes to it. ill compare it to the other 1080ti/215+ in the onda win10 rig in various slot/nest combinations.

RezidudeToday at 6:37 PM
That is great news!
Lord PowerToday at 6:52 PM
will gpu assist be able to assist in this release?
and will it be able to support programs like crypto-dredge and others that have lots of algos?
or is it just algos in the miner sqrl miner
heavyarms1912Today at 6:53 PM
only sqrl miner.
Lord PowerToday at 6:54 PM
I assume squirl miner has an API to the acorn, wonder what other use cases these could be used for
I was hoping to boost some grin:)
knolessToday at 6:54 PM
is sqrl miner only for acorns?
or can i be used with GPUs.
Lord PowerToday at 7:05 PM

Not sure
I have been looking at vivado IDE and acorns
there is lots of potential to design your own bitstream
and other uses

@jaymillerSR  I am in South Western Ontario
jaymillerSRToday at 7:11 PM
Hydro one eh.  What’s the rates?
I’m getting 0.03 in Calgary.
mfurmanToday at 7:29 PM
Average (changes during a day) rate is 8.9 c (Canadian) per kWh. It would be ~6.7 c US. You have excellent rate, jaymillerSR! It is actually London Hydro(edited)
ShokomoToday at 7:38 PM
@SQRL_Lims is 16.04 and 18.04 gonna work or will it be just one
linux
techtotToday at 7:58 PM
are there only a few algos being included in the 2/14 release? I thought GPH posted saying only  lyra2rev2, cryptonight, and something else.. anyone remember or know what algo's the release will help w/power or mining?(edited)
jaymillerSRToday at 8:13 PM
That was a joke

Is the belief that the miner released on the 14'th is for Acorns/GPU assist only?  Or will it be for BCU's too?
techtotToday at 8:34 PM
@jaymillerSR - i thought it was a strange list..so does anyone know what we can expect?
HoneyMustard69Today at 8:38 PM
I was all excited for the Radeon vii but now it looks like they laid an egg with the hashrates shown above.... sad now
jaymillerSRToday at 9:30 PM
I can guarantee sha-3 I think :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Esme SqualorToday at 10:05 PM
So we got no ETA on the Windows based SQRL Miner right?
ExplosiveprotonToday at 10:15 PM
Just get Linux. Load it on a thumb drive and go.
Esme SqualorToday at 10:30 PM
I have an very active Windows Workstation actively mining ETH on crossfire VEGAs, and 13 Hyper-Vs mining Monero. My Acorns are present on my mainboard as well wasting away at Zen Protocol mining.  If I was a one-track user, of course I would load up a Live CD linux on USB"

so maybe 2-14

gear is for sale on amazon

seems that the SQRL mining software will be released on February 14th  Wink Valentines Day

there's a youtube video with an email from SQRL support
https://youtu.be/aq_FWWjp-i8

Can't believe that a screenshot of an email makes a 10 minute video. Amaze.

wonder if kristy/ohgodagirl/mineority/ohgodacompany/ohgodwhatevertheymadeupfor names could be sued, seems she was  a large part of the disaster, but thats just guesswork on my part.

of course they can, what kristy did was flat out fraud and exit scam

My thanks to mfurman I can simply read about this and not suffer the pain of investment.

I actually have to thank gpu_hoarder for blowing off my offer the help guarantee this product.

I am glad he said no.

My condolences to those that are stuck.

Maybe we can create the list of I ordered

and I am out

$

Just in case a class action is started a I was fucked $ list may come in handy.

I was interested in this product LY but never heard anything from them from our emails. Usually a bad sign.

interesting idea but i made my decisions.. knowing full well they may come to nothing.

kinda funny im making more on grin with my existing paid for gpus than the $1K+ worth of acorn gear i ordered from mineority/sqrl/whatever they were back then.

wonder if kristy/ohgodagirl/mineority/ohgodacompany/ohgodwhatevertheymadeupfor names could be sued, seems she was  a large part of the disaster, but thats just guesswork on my part.

I think SQRL had a lot to deal with in regards to kristy/ohgodagirl/mineority/ohgodacompany/ohgodwhatevertheymadeupfor names but they can't keep using this as an excuse for the very long delay on the Miner.

It's quite disappointing that they completely overpromise on the marketing of their product and cannot deliver.  SQRL Miner with these Acorns and the fact that they were supposed to release bitstreams when they delivered their BCU's.  All of this is stated on their website.  It just seems like very deceptive business practices.

This is the last pinned update from discord:( I am quoting "SQRL_Meatlegs")
Mineority events and the 1525 mess completely jeopardized that - which is why we offered and actually ultimately automatically refunded who didn't explicitly opt to wait. But - we're late, we're behind - I'm very sorry about it. It is embarrassing and stressful, and we're doing our best to deliver everything as promised as well as ultimately make it right.
Airing grievances is cathartic and I completely understand it. I read all of it.

I'm responsible for inadequate resources scheduled.
We hit a major roadblock with the streaming mode of the Xilinx XDMA driver in December. We should have caught it as an issue earlier (it is well documented online). Streaming mode is supposed to be way more efficient and lower overhead than normal transfer mode, and all of the bitstreams were built out for interfacing in AXI-streaming mode rather than normal AXI mode.
In reality, it is ridiculously broken and unstable. On multiple different systems it causes complete lockups, blue screens etc.
Dropping back from streaming to normal AXI/DMA required reworking how the hash cores managed pipeline state - since GPU assist doesn't just churn through nonces as fast as possible - it has to be synchronized to the GPU work

so we went down a long path of stabilizing streaming mode, and then backtracked and fell back to just make it work in normal request mode

Read the disco channel over the last day or so for all your updates.

In summary, no, its not out yet and I have a feeling it's going to be awhile before we see it....
