Guys i didnt follow on discord, do you mean SQRL has quitted the goal of programming a miner to use with their fpga ?

no they havent. sqrl is still committed to releasing their gpu accelerated miner, and personally im sure they will fairly soon, my guess is within a couple weeks but again thats purely my guess.

just some drama going on because mineority shut down rather suddenly. sqrl is not mineority.

Thanks for your answer, i didnt had the time to follow on discord. I think too that sqrl has every Reason to be committed as long as their hardware is not vaporware. The market potential is huge if they achieve their goal (i know that in terms of Hashpower, it would be generally cheaper to buy new GPU to achieve same hahsrate, but in terms of powersavings, Acorn wins in the long run)

Do You think that we are going to see the miner done ?

When I was given the chance to be refunded last month I took the refund.

I was afraid of no software support.

Sad so sad.
I'm not too worries honestly, I had some emails back and forth trying to get a review unit. I talked to one of the devs and he seemed to be ontop of his shit, they are super busy getting these orders out which I just went ahead and bought. (215+) fpga are definitely the future and I'd SQRL can't get a software solution out someone else will and charge for it since the hardware is out.

They don’t get off that easy.  This was sold as an all in one solution. Yes software has to be included. I know as long as you get your money screw the ethics of it all right?  Keep allowing shady business practices and all this will ever be is a shady financial scheme. Which is still up in the air with me.  I have some issue with the design of pow that can’t be addressed and never will.  There will always be a “war” over who has control over the blockchain. Yayyy man finding another way to help his undoing.  When will one learn from past mistakes!
I'm not saying they shouldn't release a software solution like promised what I am saying is the nature of FPGA especially in the mining world will be if there is a group of users with the exact same hardware and pinout it wouldn't make sense to not build software for it.

If enough acorns are sold  someone will make software with a fee for sure.

That's why I'm not too worried about this being hardware without a use. The hardware is flowing (I ordered Sunday and it arrives tomorrow) I can tell you I'm around order 4200 so there are plenty of these going out in the wild. Worst case scenario is SQRL flops and we have to get our fpga from somewhere else but I'm not expecting SQRL to flop.

worst case is they work great and market floods with them.

Thus killing off most profits of most gpus.

Which FPGA models are the Acorns ?

Xilinx Artix-7 series: XC7A100T in "CLE-101" acorn, XC7A200T in "CLE-215" acorn.

The number following the "CLE-" corresponds to the no. of logic cells in the Artix-7, ie. 101,440 cells in the CLE-101, 215,360 cells in the CLE-215.

Anyone know if there is a way to adjust the fan on the acorns? They seem to run loud when not in use.

Questions:

Acorn nest X4.

On the SQRL website, it mentions that the X4 includes: "... an onboard DMA engine to reduce CPU load..."

a) Does the X4 need external software or a driver to utilize this capability?

b) It also looks like the X2G has the same chip. Does the X2G also have "... an onboard DMA engine to reduce CPU load..." ?

TIA

personally i think yes, im sure the official gpu miner assist miner will come out. the sqrl company seems pretty solid. but thats just my opinion.

When I was given the chance to be refunded last month I took the refund.

good call IMO. at this point i would advise folks to wait until the official miner software is in the wild. just to see real world gpu assist numbers and such. i believe acorns and nests are pretty much an off the shelf item now anyway. so as soon as the software is out and verified by regular folks you could order.

More will come to light as time passes.  Truth always prevails.  This was an exit dump onto consumers.

be prepared for a LOT of reading spread over several discords. the various discords seem to have all the raw, unfiltered dirt.

i have my own opinions of course but they are just that, opinions.

Thanks for the info. I followed your info. Is it possible to mine Ethereum with this setup?

Hmmm, let me scroll up a couple of messages for you:

So if I understand this thread correctly
- currently there is no miner that can you acorn for acceleration of gpu mining
- currently there is no working miner that can use acorn for standalone mining
- no verified info on how many rx570s on eth/xmr can 1 acorn accelerate when/if it will work with some miner
- no verified info on how many 1060s on eth can 1 acorn accelerate when/if it will work with some miner
is that correct?

yes, except your 2nd point. there is a standalone unofficial zen protocol miner. my two 215+ and 101 get me around 925 mhs zen protocol. thats probably about average for my acorns, my 215+ at 190 mhz the 101 at 220 mhz. they are in a nest4x. they can go higher im still messing with them.

there is an unofficial alpha standalone miner for 215+ only [EDIT all acorns now] here, useful for testing basic setups:

https://thefpgaforum.com/threads/alpha-zen-protocol-215-acorn-miner-solo.57/#post-297

youll need the acorn drivers, cant find the link atm, will post if i can find them, but they are pinned on the fpga discord i believe.

EDIT: windows acorn driver
www.airsquirrels.com/sqrl/AcornDriversWin-1.0.0.msi

linux driver

www.airsquirrels.com/sqrl/AcornDriversLinux-1.0.0.tgz

The part I highlighted in red tells you what you seek.

How are you running your 101 acorn? I've been sitting here looking at mine for a week and SQRL Research says be patient, we will release software soon.

in a nest4x in an x8 gen3 slot right now. ive also run them in an m2 slot. latest standalone miner alpha_012a has bitstreams for all acorns now.

1st run it will want to flash it. tell it yes, then power down and back up, regular reboots do no do it sometimes.

then just run the miner. there is a json file to set clocks for each acorn now, just edit it.

make a web wallet, get an addy and change the addy to yours in the batch file as well as worker name and email.

for miner
https://thefpgaforum.com/threads/alpha-zen-protocol-215-acorn-miner-solo.57/#post-297
need to make an account to dl it.

look at my posts upthread for drivers.

the gpu acceleration official miner is to be released "soon (tm)"
