Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it

you mean the acorns or the bcu1525?

on discord they showed  a lot of acorns supposedly ready to ship. and they really havent given hard numbers so unless its a huge drop i figure they would just ship.

there was some firmware (or something) issue they found last minute that would be hard to field update so they will update there, then ship.

i think they said they will not release the acorns till the miner software is ready. maybe its not ready.

no matter what the reason, it sure is late.

some have claimed a fedex label has been created (in house) but that doesnt mean squat till they are picked up.

my acorn orders are from july, and i have got any email as far as when it will go out. at the mineority store they just sit as "paid."

disappointing for sure but i was prepared for huge delays. wanted new toys and took the chance.
oh well. im sure i will get them but how profitable they will be remains to be seen. but the fun and learning factor stays the same no matter when they arrive.

I'm in the same camp as you vapourminer re: Acorn order and interest in new toys. I ordered in July (order number just under 600), but I ordered devices for a late September delivery. At this point I am 6 weeks past due for shipping, unlike the August delivery folks who are 10+ weeks past due for shipping.

I joined the game back in late 2011 when BFL, among others, was pitching their scam first FPGA product. It sounded interesting, but I was a skeptic so I watched from the sidelines.

To me the SQRLs and Mineority team had a little legitimacy due to their history (SQRLs successfully makes other stuff) and OhGodACompany released the free EthlargementPill, so I was willing to take a chance. I also paid with BTC that was purchased when I switched from LTC (mined in late 2011 and early 2012) to BTC and ETH. That's how I am still playing now. I only buy crypto mining gear with crypto, converting to fiat if necessary.

Smart man, that's the correct way to do it.

We've watched this a little while. since May or so. Typically if emails go no where with a company, or "entity" we tend to stay away. Best to those who sank teeth into this.

Good chance this has turned for the worse.

Let’s say they are not thieves the only explanation remaining is the gear is underperforming a lot.

So they are trying to tweak it to work somewhat close to specs.

I am glad I bailed and once again USA builders for mining = fail.

My time is never wasted if I learned something.  Yea some lessons weren’t to my favor but such is life.  It’s been real!

The fun factor is dwindling. I can safely say crypto burnt me out just a bit. Piles of hw that I should sell but lack the motivation to do so.  I learned a ton of valuable lessons about people and life thru this experience.  That’s what I will take away from all this.  My time is never wasted if I learned something.  Yea some lessons weren’t to my favor but such is life.  It’s been real!

They started to ship the BCU-1525.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjpLhY6hnII

i believe they are only shipping the passive cooled bcu1525s. the ones with active cooling (such as mine) are still being assembled.

The Jalapeños will ship after the Mini-Rigs and Singles.

Give them two weeks.

But hey, at least they warm your free BFL logo coffee mug!

Well  they were due in august it is november   a 90 day delay.

I would have no problem  but now all the bigger more powerful fpga's arrived making these lessor acorns worth less.

I am glad I took the refund.  Which they paid to me in full.

the word on discord looks to imply shipping this week. we shall see.

my initial orders in mid july were for two 215+, a 101 and a nest2x . so hoping im earlyish in the que if they ship in order of purchase.

EDIT: viewing my orders just now the acorns show "September batch" heh

I feel like alot of these FPGA devs make prototype's that show promise, but either cant bring it to fruit or the technology as it stands now just isn't the golden goose people think it is. I think its a little bit of the latter and the fact the market tanked by 50% since these guys started development. People are gonna get these things and go.."Wtf why did I pay 400 bucks for a 'nest' when the damn thing is making 75 cents a day?".

Anyway, I just have a bad feeling that there's gonna be alot of disappointed people when these things finally ship.  I do hope I get proved wrong though. FPGA's are pretty dope.

They've drawn the line in the sand as they clearly see cryptocurrency as something that make them become extinct.

That may be true in some cases, but I suspect the real reasons have more to do with the level of fraud on both sides of the transaction(s) (i.e.: seller really did not deliver; or buyer claims the seller did not deliver even when they did), as well as liability in an uncertain regulatory environment. Some countries have accepted (some) crypto currencies as legitimate forms of payment, while others have taken a "wait and see" stance, and others have banned it outright.

From the perspective of the banks, there just is not enough reward to justify the risk at this point in time. That could change in the future, but for now, all we've got is a big can of nope.

My bank card I mean visa / mastercard.

Wire transfer between EU and US is more and more a pain in the ass due to over regulation.

I don't spend crypto to buy stuff, I do FIAT -> Crypto for investment purposes.
I understand now.  Here we call those VISA/mastercard issued bank cards "Debit" cards.  Since they can be used anywhere where VISA/Mastercard credit-cards are accepted and they will withdraw directly from your bank as oppose to an actual credit-card.

The problem I read up on this is that most merchants that sell mining hardware cannot offer credit-cards as transaction choices since credit-card companies refuse to accept transactions that involved anything to do with cryptocurrencies including hardware that help distribute it

They've drawn the line in the sand as they clearly see cryptocurrency as something that make them become extinct.
