Seems Senegal are desperate to bring Sadio mane to the world cup, just like in the last AFCON tournament that he was used despite him having a concussion on the pitch.
Sadio Mane consents before Senegal takes any decision regarding him. for them to have included him in this world cup means he consented to it. The injury he sustained is as much a big blow to him as it is for the country and his absence can be disappointing to other Senegal players who have already hinged their motivation on him that they are going to the world cup with him. Even if he will not play, his presence will mean a lot for the team and other players in the squad.

It is really painful, I hope he can somehow recover and play some games quickly, even if not their opening game.

I be placing full blames on Senegalese National Team honestly, they should have informed Bayern Munich of how Sadio Mane is vital for em to give him lesser game time at the last few games to avoid unnecessary injuries. Same goes to Bayern Munich, he should have been rested, why over use him ?
He has a contract with them (Bayern Munich), how exactly did you expect Senegal to convince Bayern Munich to rest Sadio Mané, especially during the time they were trying to tighten on the top spot from Stubborn Union Berlin?

It's unfortunate that he got injured during the critical time, but I don't think you can change one's fate?

Look at Marco Reus of Germany. Dude has got to be one of the unluckiest players alive.

Mane was just added to the list of players called up for the world cup and it got me worried, Isn't Senegal overworking Mane. I understand he's their players and he's needed if Senegal was to even dream about going far in the tournament but shoudn't the wellbeing of Sadio Mane be considered here.
And what would that also do the the confidence of the others, or the guy sacrificed to make room for Mane? This has to get some resistance from Bayern, for sure. Klopp would be calling up Senegal now if this happened at Liverpool...

It was Mane's decision to go, he's 30 and this could be his final World Cup with Senegal, I'm not sure the injury is as serious as we thought given that there is still a week until the World Cup for him to at least recover since he was flown to Africa for herbal treatments, we know how far Senegal is willing to go to ensure the country captain goes to the World Cup. Because of the timing of the World Cup, he may miss the first game. I recall a similar scenario with Drogba, who was sidelined for four weeks due to a hamstring injury. He went to Africa for herbal treatment and recovered just in time for our Champions League game. No players were sacrificed, his slot was untouchable. Grin

Senegal in despair over Mane's injury: We're going to use witch doctors, he has to be there

FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, from Senegal, has also said the same thing, but with an important nuance. The desperation over the possible absence of Mane is such that they will resort to unconventional methods. "We are going to use witch doctors. I don't know [if they are effective], but we are going to use them anyway," Samoura told Europe 1 radio.

"Hopefully there will be a miracle. He has to be there

Other players with injuries aren't been called up but the case of Mane is different. Obviously he won't be at his 100% if he does play at the world cup because of his injuries so do you think Senegal was right calling him up for the squad to represent them at the world cup also why isn't Bayern Munich not resisting since they'll be at lost if Sadio Mane case get worst as a result of been overworked at Qatar.
This is a major blow to the Senegalese national team losing their key player at this crucial moment when the World cup is just less than eleven days to go. The absence of Mane in the world cup for senegal is a huge blow to the Senegalese side. Suggesting the use of voodoo jokingly or not shows their desperation but they will be hoping for a miracle definitely to get Mane on his feet and fit when the World cup kicks off.

I have been following Mane injury and even though isn't a serious one but it requires few weeks to recover. He will be evaluated next week tho and the medical staff will update his situation and accordingly we will know whether he could play or not.
I believe that Senegal is hoping that he could play at least 1-2 matches vs Ecuador +/- Qatar. The other scenario is that he can join them in case they pass the group stage.
It is quite risky obviously for him and Bayern isn't happy about that. They already warned Senegal about the current situation..

Wow. Still following Mane a little because I genuinely like the guy, like I follow all Reds when they leave, from a distance. Did not know this, was just telling my son I was sad he wasn't going to be at the World Cup... I remember when he was forced to play at Afcon after the concussion -- of course being the consummate professional he himself said he wanted to play (even willing to sign a waiver) but they really need to think of their players and the sport. Even if he plays, he won't be at his best.

And what would that also do the the confidence of the others, or the guy sacrificed to make room for Mane? This has to get some resistance from Bayern, for sure. Klopp would be calling up Senegal now if this happened at Liverpool...

He's like Lionel Messi  to Argentina currently very important and that attacking line feels like it's in shambles without Sadio Mane.

Black Magic ? That's very laughable, I don't really know what plans they're into though, but over working the player to play the World Cup with injury will increase it to another injury which might not see him giving a hundred just as you've said above.

They've still got me support not to eventually win the World Cup, but to Actually move to a better level higher than the group stage. Good luck to them, I ain't switching to Cameroon or Ghana nor Tunisia. C'mon 🔥🔥 Let's Go! Qater!! ✈️

I beg to differ. Here are some reasons why the girls deserve to be celebrated despite coming in at third place.

I understand the angle that you're coming from but who does history remember when the time comes, only the winners. Therefore that should be the goal always. We should stop settling for second best. Nigeria is bigger than been classified as the only representative of the Africa continent when it come to football because we're world power, we should be in conversation of winners and not runner ups. Other African countries are just picking up but Nigeria has always been up there yet we lose focus and not win trophies.

The girls are those that'll graduate to the first team and if they are going to be as careless as they were against Germany then they need more experienced or don't deserve to play for the falcons. They're lucky they won that game and that was because of the brilliance of the goal keeper.  The falcons need to win us the world cup as it seems they're the better side to bring that trophy home, the boys can't do it, they lack the zeal.

The girls for hard fight. They deserve some accolades and not condemnation. We should bury the hatchet and let bygones be bygones - with the coach, the goalkeeper and the players. They are the third best in 2022 and will undoubtedly compete to win the title in 2024. Did you know that this is the first international female U-17 LADIES Medal for Nigeria? My greatest desire for the girls is that their careers take flight and do not become stagnated or dead.
This is a great achievement in the history of women's football in Nigeria. Am holding the team tight in preparation for higher-level football tournaments at national and international competitions.

Am proud of them. They have exhibited the 'never say die' Nigerian spirit and attitude. In an era of gloom and hopelessness, they have given us reason to be proud and happy. Congratulations to our able Flamingoes

The flamingoes defended really poorly, and are lucky to still finish third. They felt the game was already over after their three goal lead and when it was already very close to stoppage time. If the game had gone an extra 10mins after Germany equalized, I don't think the game would have gotten to penalties with the momentum that the Germans used in equalizing. For future competitions, we have to learn from the errors that we made in this competition. Sometimes you have only a chance to make history, this U-17 women world cup would have been a chance to be the first African team, It may take a while to get to this stage again to have a chance at history.

Congratulations to them on the Bronze, it would have been more painful for them not to have won anything, maybe we will do better next time.

That was actually the coach's fault and his laxity during that game, this is why they say in football that it's not yet over until it's over.
The flamingos forgot about that fact as they were leading with 3 goals over German machines side. The time they got that 3 should have been the right time when they coach supposed to have lock the 3 points. However, I really commend the Flamingos for this effort so far in this compition. They played well in most of their games but seem had luck was in their side.

I beg to differ. Here are some reasons why the girls deserve to be celebrated despite coming in at third place.
  • A total of 16 teams from all across the globe will competed for the cup.
  • Morocco, Nigeria and Tanzania were the only African teams that qualified for the final tournament
  • Nigeria was the only African team to reach the semi-finals. If it was easy they wouldn't have been there. This was an improvement from their performances in the previous tournaments.
The girls needs to be celebrated indeed, it is not easy to come out with a third position.  It is better than not coming out with nothing that one can't boast of. Coming out with a third position is not a poor results.  If they can make a third position, then next time they will make up a first position.

if you watched the game Nigeria played against Germany you'll noticed how badly we defended and couldn't secure our lead, giving the Germany side an opportunity to crawl back into the game by equalizing making it 3:3. We were leading 3:0 at the 70+ mins and couldn't secured that lead. The defender let in 3 goals within 20 mins which lead to the penalty shoot out. Big thanks to the Nigerian goalie as she saved the day.

Though I am not really a fan of female football, but reading the comment made me decide to chip in my thought on the matter, I think I will go with Brainboss's analogy, I am that kind of person who believes in "the best or nothing".
I think one thing with our Nigerian players is that we praise them too much even when they don't deserve it, a third place, though a good position to attain but its not worth celebrating bud, when we celebrate such an achievement knowing fully well they could have done better, they end up feeling relaxed about pushing harder the next time, it can install this mindset of "we don't have to stress ourselves much, if we can try and attain the third position at least, our people will celebrate us as usual".

So sometimes, we should learn to (with all due respect) down turn their effort or achievement especially when we know there was a large room wide enough for them to perform better, this will push them to perform even better in their next tournament.

The women are trying in games very well. I just wish if the men can pick courage and starts performing like the women, the women are making more wins and trying there best to do better. If the men have been trying their just like the women by they would have been warming up for the world cup game starting up soon.

But no body talks about the second, not even the third so why should we be celebrating them. They lost their chance to fight for the title and cement their name in history, the spanish side has showed once again their dominance in football in general as the woman won the title. Kudos to the German side as the put in some impressive football within those 20mins and scored some impressive goals. Seems it was Nigeria that was destined to win this game as normally you'll think after such impressive comeback by the German side, that they'll go on to win since they had the momentum on their side but again the Nigerian goalie has to be praised for her effort, she singlehandedly won Nigeria that game.

The girls made us proud. They played against Germany. Nigeria 3 - 2 Germany.  Nigeria won the game on penalty. But the full time played was 3-3. Nigeria scored their first goal in the first half and they become equal in the full time. For the flamingos to take third place in the women u17 cup is a very good news. At least they are making us happy
Spain team fight well, they won the u17 women world cup. Spain won the final with 1- 0 against Colombia.
The problem, I have in Nigeria is the sport channels. They is no quality sport Nigeria football channels to watch football.

Nigeria vs Columbia: FIFA U-17 women's semi-finals world cup
The Nigerian women played against Columbia in the semi-finals and it ended in a goalless draw in the first and second half of the match. which resulted in a penalty shot out. Nigeria (6)- Columbia(7)

I don't why Nigeria's coach have to change her goalkeeper to put in another goalkeeper that is too stiff to dive a ball. Am blaming the penalty lost on the goalkeeper, it's like we don't have any goalkeeper keeping the ball for us. What a terrible goal lost to a penalty when we were supposed to win by 5th take
No need blaming anyone, Not the coach for changing the Goal keeper, Not the new keeper for looking too stiff to dive according to you, because if we are going down that line, we need to still blame the players for letting the game even progress into penalties. But what happened is what was just meant to happen as you saw that the ball that would have sent us to the final hit the bar in the penalties, It is not our year, we expected the flamingoes to be the first African team to play in the finals of this competition, we have no options now than to wait for another time.
