Nigeria super eagle not qualifying for FIFA world Cup had  made me lose interest in the team, their match against Ghana national team in Abuja were they failed to qualify was very painful and I am very sure lot of Nigerians wouldn't turn up to watch Nigeria vs Sierra Leone, it's a big shame and disappointment that the super eagle will not be participating in World Cup with all their talented players good luck to the new coach as he play his first competitive match as their new manager and I believe if the team started their campaign on a winning note probably the win the heart of their fans back.

Nigeria lose again to an international friendly game against Mexico under a new a coach jose Peseiro , this is their first game under this new coach. I wouldn't want to use their first game to rate the new coach if he is capable of building the team strong again, other game coming will if the new coach is work or not.

The friendlies are best used to gauge the efficiency of the players, the coach does not care much if he loses let's say a game 2-0 but in that game he gets valuable information from different players and their form.He starts based on this information on how to build an even more efficient team and tries different tactics during the training sessions the team will have. This helps a lot prepare the team at the best the coach can and be ready for International important competitions.

I have experience with everything that has to do with Peseiro, and I know that he is a coach who when a player, no matter how good he is, and he doesn't like it, simply doesn't call him to the team, he looks for someone else who doesn't have the same technique or better, I think that Peseiro works with good players, however organizing a team is not his strong point, Mexico has a great level of football, most of its players are in a very demanding Mexican league, and the Mexicans have good technique, there are players like Chicharito Hernandez who even came to Real Madrid and showed a great level, in fact at that time he was hardly scored and when he was scored in almost every game he scored a goal.

Nigeria's Afcon qualifiers against sierra Leone will be a massive.. Tomorrow is going to be  a day the new coach play his first competitive game as the super eagles coach

It is largely expected the super eagles come out with a victory so they won't be missing out on the Afcon as the disappointment of the world earlier to this year..a d it will also be a boost in morale to the team and the players

Nigeria has the ability and quality to come out victorious against sierra Leone
And that for sure is what

Tactical approach is needed so increase the flexibility of the game.... Nigerians needs answer now...we need to start a rebuild process and strong

I believe the likes of Senegal will give there best and retain the Afcon cup of Nations..
Nigeria have a lot to do if there are to match Senegal .. because Senegal at the moment is so organized the way they play ..the discipline they have..the team spirit...but Nigeria needs time to become this type of team ...the most important thing is to start from somewhere

For the AFCON 2023 qualifier matches been played today, Kanye vs Namibia was canceled, I haven't found any reason behind the cancellation so I'm surprised. Meanwhile Uganda, Niger, Gabon and Mauritania all drew their games. Niger vs Uganda ended one goal each while the match between Gabon and Mauritania ended goalless. Congo and Algeria both won their matches each with the respective scorelines. Congo 1- 0 Gambia and Algeria 2- 0 Tanzania.

The other matches to be played today are Benin vs Mozambique and Sudan vs Dr Congo. Both matches are on the way and currently at half time with Sudan and Mozambique winning by one goals to nothing. O don't expect any more goals from this two matches ongoing. The qualifiers are quite boring in my opinion.
Actually there will be no match for Kenya and Zimbabwe in AFCON qualification. They were excluded from the tournament by CAF, which included them initially but required that they should make some changes, I don't know exactly but I think it is related to politics interfering with football federations in these countries..
From now on, Group C that include Cameroon mainly and Group K that include Morocco and South Africa will have only 3 nations instead of 4.

The super eagles loose again to Ecuador with a 1-0 score line,, the game has no importance given the fact that's it's a friendly game,, but momentum is supposed to be built given that it's a new head coach ,,but I believe the coach has all the time at his disposal to bring the team back to winning ways before the fans begins to grow frustration,,  we need to build momentum against our upcoming qualifying matches be it afcon or next world cup,,  the super eagles just needs consistency ,, so we can build a team to compete with the likes of Senegal in Africa and other European and South American football power house,, and maybe move up ton the FIFA rankings,, all departments of the teams needs improvement.the NFF needs to give it's full backing to the coaching staffs physically, materially and financially in other to build a good a d strong team..

We also have to admit that the current quality of Ecuador is so extraordinary where they successfully strolled into the Qatar world cup this year. Of course, the defeat that was received by Nigeria against Ecuador was a natural thing, especially since the match was titled a friendly match. himself before they competed in the Africa cup qualifiers although currently Augustine has enough homework to fix as strong as Nigeria after failing to qualify for this year's itching at the hands of the previous coach of course the African grasshopper is the hope for them to be able to compete in 2023 later

I wonder why Nigeria have not started their qualifications to next year's Afcon....I just can't wait to see them play under the new coach.. to see how the ball will be distributed from defense to the offensive side of the pitch.

The new coach hasn't been impressive so far as he has lost two friendly that he should have atleast drew them if winning wasn't possible. Nigeria will be playing their first game of this qualifications on the 9th against Sierra leone at the Abuja National Stadium. I don't see the super eagle losing that and we qualifying from the group won't be an impossible quest considering the nations we were paired against.

My concern is about getting a silverware, qualifying hasn't been our problem but getting the job done is where we come short and we have very high hopes for the new coach to change all that. It has been quite a long time since we last won the AFCON and as such we should be playing to win it this time around and not just qualifying.

Then heart of defence should be balogun and troost or K Omemue

I sincerely think there's nothing super about the Super Eagles of Nigeria, they are just know to have a star studded squad but always fails to live up to expectations. The game against Mexico and Ecuador which they lost gracefully would have been a different result especially the one with Ecuador if they were a little bit more hungry. The Nigeria team to say the least, lacks drive and tactics.

Current discussion should be "Africa Cup of Nations qualifications" or "Cup of Nations".
I don't see top games in the Group stage, basically there is a clear favourite in every group, except maybe group I?
Ghana and Tunisia got a draw tomorrow although they were expected to win.
In the upcoming days, I think people will focus on Nigeria game vs Sierra Leone to see if the team recovered or not.
True In all the groups there is a clear favourite which will easily qualify in my opinion except for group I as you said it will be a total war, tunisia game took me off guard but still it was an away  draw so their chances are still huge and they will be in top of that group.

Two losses in a row is not good for the reputation and international ranking of Nigeria. What makes this losses more painful is that we are not losing to a world-class or high ranking sides. The coach would have learnt some few lessons from this two matches. Nigerians now want to see to lessons or technical experience applied in our next match. At least we expect to see some players he had identified in these two friendlies joining our first team players to give the team the needed boast.

Personally, my focus for the Nigerian team under the new coach in their last two games was on performance. I honestly didn't expect Nigeria to win Mexico and Ecuador. There's so much they have to adjust to- new players are coming, new system, new coach tactics.  Overall, I would expect that the coach should solidify the defense and the team needs to be able to make use of the chances and turn them into goals as the team returns to Nigeria to prep for AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and São Tomé and Príncipe on 9th of June and 13th June respectively.

while it remains uncertain which club Sadio Mané will play for in the future, the winger scored a hattrick for his homeland in their opening africa cup qualifier, a 3-1 win over benin.
and btw that makes him senegal's all-time leading scorer (31 goals atm)

@cygan I didn’t like his statement that he was joking about his transfer, and now I feel that it was a ploy to get a better offer from Liverpool and I also believe that he isn’t going anywhere and will stay at Liverpool only. Lastly it seems that he was not distracted by the off field issues, and he was definitely in fine form as he easily scored a hattrick and single handedly won the match for Senegal.

While it's too early to rate the coach impact on the team still we don't have to underate how destructive this loses can be. What surprises me is why isn't he using our regulars. I don't get why the super eagle couldn't equalized with over 87th minutes of regular playing time and some extra. This must have been one boring match to watch.

I wouldn't use this two losses to judge the Nigerian team if they will still remain like this . The Super Eagles haven't be consistent for a longtime and now they have a new coach the performance of the players can't just change simultaneously,  it will change gradually let's give them sometime to see if the new coach can do something great.

Like you've said,  @ CryptoprreneurBrainboss, it's to early to start talking about the coach potential.
But at least a draw would have been much appreciated. I really want to see them do excellently well.
These results are reasons I don't want to watch them play.

Isn't it shameful that Nigeria lost another friendly?
They are not just preparing good for the new Afcon qualifies.
They lost from the first half to last half.
The goal was scored at the third minute of the game.

I believe after this second defeat, the new coach will consider returning to our previous starters instead of testing with this new players he's using. I wasn't chanced to watch the match but here's something I found which means something urgent has to be done even though this are just friendly.
The Super Eagles played and lost their second game under Jose Peseiro on Friday against Ecuador, 1-0, at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, USA.

The lineup was the same as the one that started in the loss to Mexico but for the inclusion of Sani Faisal who came on for the injured Innocent Bonke.

While losing shouldn't have an excuse, but have you taken a look at the team that played before placing judgement on the coach. His team choice isn't obviously our starting 11 and I'm pretty sure that was due to the players not been available either resting or taking some vacation from the juat concluded seasons. We didn't have our usual midfielders playing and a key players as Ndidi wasn't present and other vital players.
Now lets look at the formation 4,2,2,2. That isn't our best formation and probably the coach is just using this friendly to test his tactics and others players to identify the best new players to input into the team to strengthen it. The match ended 2:1 and the second Mexico goals was an own goal. Lets give the coach time and not been quick to judge.
Nigerians are naturally impatient. We love instant or immediate result. I don't blame them because our passion for football is boundless. But we must understand that a team takes alot of time, mistakes and sacrifice to build. There is nothing wrong in loosing a friendly match, what matters is what lessons did the players and technical crew learn from the game. It is better we loose all our friendly matches learning lessons that would help us win competitions and trophies. Nigerians must be patient and give the technical crew more time.

They are just hungry for wins and there are a lot of people who do not like to lose. To be honest it obviously sucks to lose. But losing is the only way to learn quickly. I think they should stop thinking about what they are going to lose again and again and start thinking about what they have done wrong and work on that. I absolutely agree that they really have to be patient if they want to achieve better things. It is easy to play the blank game but it is hard to think about the mistakes.
