Gridseed has already sent out its shipments, and its  early March, system is up and running, money back in 2 months. Which takes us to early May, alpha wont even have their systems out by then. Another 2 months.

I could make my money back and buy another and probably make my money back on that one as well before it takes these guys to get their 1st batch out.

Crazy why you would invest that money and miss out now.

Please keep in mind by the time July is here, nvidia will most likely have already launched the new maxwell chips with superior efficiency.  Factoring the time lost and increased difficulty, it is hard to justify this purchase since it is blanketed with uncertainty and no guarantees.

What is sad is that Alpha-tech is already acting like Butterfly labs.  They priced their units at only 10% lower than the price performance of 7950s or 290xs.  KHs/$ is 2.5 for GPUs and only 2.8 for the 25MHs units.

Bast on the maxwell chip speculation and anticipated bandwidht plus the new DDR RAM step up will mean that GPU KHs will out strip the KHs/$ performance of current GPUs but a conservative 50% and possible even 75%.  This means that the AMD GPUs will wipe out the alpha-tech units after only about a month after deployment.  Not even enough time for alpha-tech customers to break even.

Wait till the AMD GPUs start getting out into the wild.  Alpha-tech preorder buyers will be screaming for the shipments to get delivered and there will be frantic selling of the units on eBay hoping a sucker will buy them out at just break even.

I believe you are talking about the nVidia card, not the AMD card.

The selling point of ASIC miner is that it is more power efficient.

the fact you carnt go to their 'office' and pay direct or even speak to them in person is very suspicious, where dealing with alot of money here.

no business operates like this, new business's want the most publicity and customer satisfaction possible, it wouldn't make sense to turn away potential customers and deny the right of face to face business.

they are scared of talking to people face to face because they haven't got the dexterity to lie to a customers face

this thread still alive?

I can only see 2 possible outcomes of this venture:

(most likely)1. Alpha will disappear before July with all the pre-order money and I will laugh so hard at anyone who believed.

(not likely but possible)2. Alpha will deliver miners and become the leader in scrypt asic hardware, and i will regret not ordering.

Either way, life will still go on, with or without Alpha scrypt miners.

when is the expected ship dates for these?

Our first batch which has now closed will ship in July.

Funny you guys were saying June a month ago.  First it was Q2/3  Then it was Q2, then it was June.  Some forum members moronically thought that Q2 meant the first day of the first month and you would ship in April.  I know Q2 would mean end of June.  Now you are saying July which of course for product manufacturers mean end of July.  Given 1-2 weeks delivery (includes customs) customers wont see their miners in hand until mid August.

And this is assuming that there aren't any more delays.  Already the reports alpha-tech post stated that they weren't getting optimal performance and they are still in design.  I expect a few more road bumps from here until July.  If the rest of engineering does not run like well oiled machine I would target Sept for delivery.

I am going to laugh so hard when you will all realize that this is nothing but a scam.

I will laugh for a very long time.

You sound like a caring guy.
You are looking out for scams in order to laugh at people hurt by them?
Go on then.

If you haven't followed communication in the thread, things are looking VERY good with Alpha Technology.
I'll make sure to pm you when mine arrives.

Cozk,

When you say scam you mean Alpha Tech or Alt Coin mining in general?  I think your wrong in both instances, regardless, but time will tell.

Huh? $6k 5mhs..... I don't think that's really competitive with GPUs.

http://alpha-t.net/faq/

Its less than $3k final cost (incl VAT & delivery) and 100W consumption for 5mh. Even at a much higher price, the power requirements would make all the difference

If they hit the market in any significant quantity, pretty soon even the best GPUs won't be covering power costs.
Or rather they will be doing just that as I suspect much of the GPU load that is currently profitable will be withdrawn and only the most efficient will remain.
It will probably take a second generation to eliminate them completely, just like with bitcoin. The FPGAs of 2012 were much better than GPUs but they did not make them irrelevant. Current scrypt asics seem to be at that level of relative performance rather than the bitcoin proper asics of 2013

That is not to say I expect GPU mining to die.
Already as mentioned there are coins using modified scrypt incompatible with asics.

But I am curious what will happen with scrypt-coin prices

Alpha Technology,

When is a 2nd batch of pre-orders planned to be opened or began to be accepted, is there any plan or timeline for that?  Is there any room to get in on the first batch from cancelled orders?

Thank you

So which scrypt coins will get raped first? Litecoin and dogecoin? Both are pretty stuck-up, so don't expect much much resistance from devs. All other coins I see moving to scrypt-jane or n-scrypt right away. Coingen.io generated coins are fucked. I won't name you but you know who you are!

There is a list, you don't need to name them.

In the case of dogecoin the first halving stage is already over; Most coins are already out there (>50%). On the other hand litecoin has a 4years halving,.. We will see the changes...
