In my opinion there is no profitable altcoin in the long run, because altcoin is only temporary and will not last long for a good price, unlike the case with investing in Bitcoin, indeed for now the price of bitcoin is very high, but if you invest in your bitcoin no need to hesitate anymore to hold it in the long run, because if you invest in bitcoin in the long run you will get a very large profit in the future.

many choices, the price is relatively cheaper than bitcoin and the opportunity to make more profit. Maybe there are some benefits if I spend more of my money investing in altcoin and holding it for the long term. But the negative value that I found is that the influence of bitcoin is too big on altcoin until now.
You are wrong mate.Altcoin is profitable than bitcoin in short time. You will find that if you see the btc pairs not usd.yes bitcoin price is high but bitcoin is the most profitable for long time holder.you can see last 2years history, you will see that bitcoin is profitable in long term.

just remember , mostly is not for long-term investment, the simple reasons, because altcoins is more fluctuactive than bitcoin.
so far i just found BNB,KCS,OKB is worth for long term holders, even eth still a bit more fluctuactive for now rather than that three coins that I mentioned..
I understood on what basis you've selected all the three altcoins for long term holding. All the three mentioned were exchange backed altcoins, more the progress and adoption of cryptocurrencies more will be the usage of exchanges. This way at any situation the usage of exchanges won't fall back, and this assures continued development which is the base for further uplifting of the market value of the respective tokens.
low risk, that why i choose them. that token came from reputable exchange which mean the token have a value based how the exchange performance. although the bad news they cannot tell exactly where their office stands,at least that for bring the good way,it will be ok.

It could be hasty to approve that altcoin provides more long term profits, you can make profit but not long term. Generally cryptocurrency give long term profit but altcoins pose as a risky venture especially with advent of ICO and IEO,  that fund teams that are not reliable and capable. They have no plan to execute project, they over value project and run away with fund at the end of crowdsale. They reward all existing venture that gave approval, publicise and brought them investors. I think regulation especially in crowdfund will help altcoins

Yeah I agree, bitcoin is more stable, of course if you pick the right altcoin you can make a lot more money, if you can pick the right coins back to back few times you can definitely make a loooot of money as well, however the big question is, can you? I mean you could pick the correct times of bitcoin going down and up and you can make that much money just with bitcoin as well, why don't we?

Because, we don't know the exact times we can buy or sell bitcoin. Same goes for altcoins, you can make more money with altcoins if you know what to buy and when to buy it but that looks like not something we posses that commonly, at least not on bitcointalk people, we make some money time to time but we also lose time to time as well and end up break even levels most frequently.

Lately I've been hodling ETH for long term. There ain't a lot of altcoins that I am planning to hodl.
I won't miss every single opportunity in day trading though when I get back into it.
BTC is just one of those coins that proved me to keep hodling on. ETH is the alternative Bitcoin that told me the same.

Personally,  i don't really think holding altcoins for a long term is that profitable. Short term trading is currently the only way you can really make a decent amount of profit from Altcoin investment. Considering the altcoin market for a while now, it is very likely to make about 2% of your initial investment capital  after 6months of investing. Meanwhile, you can make the same amount of profit within a week if you are into daily trading. So why should i wait for 6 months to earn 2% whiles i can make the same amount trading daily within a week.

Investing in crypto is very popular and it can give a very big return on investment. But its a very risky place to invest because of so many scam project out there that people can lose all they have. Alts have a very bright future and day by day its demand increases and if it continues it can replace paper money.

The reason that might be why many people mostly get negative profit from most altcoins is not because of the altcoin itself but when did they bought or started investing. Also, many good projects are not getting much attention because more investors are more focus on the promise of profit from projects that eventually turn out to be scam.

Unfortunately altcoins are getting their value only when bitcoin is trading relatively stable price levels and when bitcoin is falling or rising, most altcoins are falling almost all the times. I disagree this is a negative influence of bitcoin into altcoin markets but we need to understand that this is how altcoins/bitcoin relations are working for their own valuations.

Definitely altcoins are not good for long term holding. There might be lots of exceptions but we cannot find and invest into only those long term perspective coins. So, simply making use of altcoins for short term benefits is only the wise way with respect to altcoin investments.

I also think is more risky to invest in altcoins then bitcoin, but yes it might be a better option because the price of sktcoins is not so high as bitcoin and can buy  more altcoins then bitcoin with same amount of money, but all depends what altcoin is choosen and if can make profit.

Hi guys! Good morning, how are you? I have an absurd doubt and maybe you can help me. In 2018, I bought 15700 BTK (Bitcoin token) units and kept them in my ETHER wallet. I stayed this whole time without entering, when I opened the wallet and clicked to go to the crypto website, I was directed to the Bitcoin turbo token website, which, reading, is the new name of the Bitcoin token, so far so good! It turns out that the crypto supply dropped a lot, from 10 billion to just over 22 million. I found little on the net about this conversion, some say that old tokens will be converted into other values. My ETHER is counting the new price ($ 0.005) over the original amount of tokens I had (15700), accounting for $ 88. I would like to know from you if that is right, when I do the transaction, there will be a conversion to the new btk and i will lose some dollars? Or is the staff wrong, and the value is on the original tokens, that is, just changed their names and there was a burning of the offer?

I think it depends on the situation, base on my experience in 2018, it was not good to hold altcoins when the market is at bullish trend, it will cost you a lot and after the heat will subsides you been realized that you are already losing half of your portfolio base on its value when you bought it. that's why think twice before you decide to hold any altcoins specially when intended for long term holding.
This time looks very different with 2018 but it's very similar with what already happened at the end of 2017. The price altcoin can't be generalized if that will always get a dump when the price of bitcoin is getting bullish momentum. I guess for the long term investment and native coin looks much better compared with altcoin.
At least altcoin can be considered as a mid term investment and not all of altcoins can't be considered as long term investment too. I just try to remind you about the altcoins that below the bitcoin right now like ethereum.

There are thousands of altcoin projects in this market, if you are lucky, you can choose an altcoin that will help you gain a lot of profits in the long term. But 99% of altcoin projects in the long term will collapse, this is a very dangerous investment so you need to be absolutely careful with it. Don't be too greedy in this market because you can lose it all anytime

Yes but I don't think so as the value depends upon the market. Having tons of altcoin doesn't prove you are more ahead than people who are holding BTC relatively you do have more in count but the thing is that it still rely on the market price itself. Well I cannot convince you either, but don't get the idea wrong. Besides if BTC pumps hard alts will just be influenced on the other end.
It depends heavily on the market trend really. Altcoins are a lot easier to purchase than bitcoin which costs a fortune to even get one, while most altcoins can be bought with a single paycheck. In terms of profitability, I can't say that altcoins are better at this since their lower prices means they have lower gains. But altcoins provide diversity in the cryptocurrency world which is really good. So it heavily depends on your lifestyle and how you take care of your investments really.

In my opinion, the effect of bitcoin on altcoin is because altcoin prices are based on bitcoin, if the price of bitcoin goes down then altcoin also follows. if you want to invest in altcoin, you must first learn that altcoin, to get the benefits you want correctly.

Investor shouldn't fool as normal users, suppose you invested in Bitcoin at the time of 20k. When price was 3.2k, your lose is 6.25 percent. But in altcoins your lose could be 50-100 percent even same to profits 50-100. Last year top pump was ThoreCoin, and top dump is more than pump coin.

buying altcoin at a low price and expecting a large profit percentage is what every altcoin holder wants. but now it is very difficult to choose altcoin with a large percentage of profits, because of the many altcoins available on the market today, making it difficult for traders to choose a good altcoin, especially for long-term holding purposes.
