There are so many altcoins and only very few of them have being profitable since their inception, many of this altcoins have been a waste of resources, investors time and even the managers of the projects, that's even the fairly bad part, the occurrence of scams in the altcoin market is sky high, all these factors alone do not make it a better longer term investment option than the bitcoin.

I agree that invest into altcoin will bring more profit in long term, but in the last downtrend many altcoins lose too much value. To choose a good altcoin wont be easy and who know will its price drop in bitcoin bull run. I think still too risk to buy altcoin and wait for big profit, why dont just put the money in bitcoin and use margin for larger profit.

old altcoins like ETH, LTC and some have followed the price of bitcoin since yesterday, there is no Altcoin that is still new to go up following the price of bitcoin, maybe everyone saw it in coinmarketcap that since last week bitcoin went up almost all of the old Altcoins also went up in price, so I just invest in old altcoin, don't love the newly released altcoin let alone take it as a long-term investment
Cheaper does not equate to more profit. It does not matter if it is bitcoin or altcoin as long as it is fundamentally sound investment. If it is a long term investment, you must have a fundamental analysis of your target altcoin. Only then you could say if it will be more profitable than bitcoin. Investing just because an alt is cheap is a gamble at best.

As far as my understanding altcoins give much profit than Bitcoin, patience test is desperately needed in alts. That's the reason a lot of them prefer buying Bitcoin rather than altcoins, however one can make a good profit investing in altcoins. All we need to is just understand the structure of market.

Agree with you that Altcoin will be more profitable if the altcoin market goes up. But currently the market is not for altcoins and there are many altcoin scams in this market, the opportunity for you to choose a good altcoin is very low. If you invest in altcoin scam, its price will quickly collapse and you will never get profit with it. Investing in Bitcoin can make you less profitable but you will be safe, always remember that in this market you should not be greedy. 
Let's start thinking simply. You buy Bitcoin and Ethereum on ATH, and try to calculate your current loss. of course you lose a lot on the altcoin, for Bitcoin itself you lose about 50% when this post is written. And I agree that alt is indeed very profitable and can return many times over, but I only believe in some alt. the fundamentals of each alt are certainly very different, some are potential and some are not.
