There's some possibility that some altcoins will increase (not all) this is because of thier development and partnerships but to grow this all without bitcoin I think this is impossiblt to happen because many coins now are rely on price of bitcoin especially when bitcoin pump more.

No, absolutely no chance! Without Bitcoin price pumping, the crypto market won't pump, the history proved it many times! Bitcoin is the king and the game-changer of the whole crypto market! The crypto market goes up and down with every big movement in Bitcoin price. So, without having a pump in BTC, we can't expect an altcoin session!

After reading few posts on this forum today I became confused because and I decide to let it out to get answers in return, is it possible for altcoins to grow (altcoin season) without Bitcoin? I'm not talking about pumps like if a coin get burned off it's max supply or if listed on binance and other top exchanges, I'm talking about every altcoins surging on their own without Bitcoin taking the first step...
That may not happen because investors will be getting some confident about good returns from cryptocurrency investment only after bitcoin will be leading them. I mean they will test first with bitcoin investments and then they will look for altcoins. So, obviously bitcoin will grow first and then altcoins will be following it. There will be less to zero possibilities for most altcoins to be rising up on its own.

When there will be a tremendous positive news like government will be adopting one particular altcoin or big development will be happening for an altcoin then it will be getting chances to grow on its own. In the past, I have never observed any such event even that will be happening that will first impact on bitcoin too at first. So, altcoin season will happen but may not happen on its own.

Yes and I think it already happened before the BTC was crashing down while the alts are pumping up.
Alt-coin have their own investor so why wouldn't it happen?
We just see the price of alt-coin increase when BTC pump because we are looking at their USD value but most of the time they doesn't really increase in terms of Sat's.

Yes, it is possible for altcoins to increase without bitcoin,

If altcoins will show good fundamentals and have some additional functions over time, it will increase even without the influence of bitcoin. There is a lot of reasons why altcoins increases, it only depends on how the altcoin will develop in the long run.
Bitcoin and altcoin market have a mutual correlation. Sometimes they move upwards together, sometimes they move downwards together. In some periods, they move in opposite directions but as being said Bitcoin is a King of crypto market and most of altcoins have their main part of liquidity concentrated on ALT/BTC trading pairs. The number of ALT/USDT pairs is much less than the number of ALT/BTC trading pairs.

It is an off-topic question but I am curious that you are the @Dabs (formerly is a staff), aren't you?

IMO, it's not possible for altcoins to grow without bitcoin.

This is simply because of the fact that bitcoin always leads the market, I think until now there are still people who have no idea about altcoins but they know bitcoin very well, that says a lot about how popular bitcoin is and the last time there was a bull run, that is because of bitcoin hitting a new ATH and we then the FOMO happens, and with that FOMO, it was enjoyed by the market of altcoins.

Yes, it’s possible, there have already been a lot of such moments when altcoins grew in price and bitcoin meanwhile stood still on one place, but usually if bitcoin grows and altcoins begin to grow, it’s difficult to understand this whole process and we just need to follow all movements of cryptocurrency market.

Altcoins with good potential have proven that they can surge on their own, many of these altcoins have better use case and features than Bitcoin and those who buy them at ICO price are now in big gains for example NEO which was at 0.07$ at launch

If there is a coin which is enough to convince the crypto community to believe on its long term future and its utility then it can grow on their own but in my opinion its still hard for an altcoin to grow on their own if there is no manipulation on its price from whales.
It's hard to see but, it's possible to see altcoin to grow alone. The manipulation happen in the market but as long the project is good with continuous development in my view a chance to grow.

I am thinking about the manipulation too because we already see it happen before. But the altcoin can rise if the support for the project becomes bigger, and with help from some pump groups, the price will grow. But still, the altcoin price will need to wait for bitcoin first to go to the higher price, and altcoin will adjust to the new price after the increase. The market situation now becomes difficult to predict because bitcoin and altcoin are still trying to rise, but I hope that the altcoin will take use the time to increase first, and then bitcoin will be increased too.

Some factors can make altcoin surge on its own without bullrun, e.g
1. Halving
2. Bigger exchanges
3. Burn off supply
4. Better use case which can result into huge demand

The whales can easily control the market so whales are capable to make altcoins start bullrun on their own without the help of Bitcoin, manipulations at it best can drive altcoins to the moon

Of course, it is possible for altcoin market to grow separate from bitcoin, afterall they also have separate investors to begin with. However, we have to think that all altcoins are pair with bitcoin in the trading floor, so there could be correlations or at least some sort of mutual interaction between the two. And chances are, if bitcoin goes on another bull run similar to 2017, we might see alts growing near all time high again.

Yes, it did happen before and can still happen now.
They have their own market strategist. If it will be successful then a big pump could happen that will increase its value.
That still depends on the project of one coin.
Most of them now are like copies of the old ones which are unsuccessful.
If they could create something that is unique then chances are investors buying it and could soar the price.

But, how will you know which is better and which is just created by a hype? Requires a lot of study and eye sore reading whitepapers and team management.

The answer is possible, right now there's altcoin already have pair with currency, so soon or later the priority not always about bitcoin. We also know some developer try to built their own brand out side bitcoin, this method must do to avoid negative movement from bitcoin. This time everything is possible but predict market in the right position still impossible.

Yes it is very possible, In fact, I think I am seeing a situation like that in previous weeks, almost everything is down including bitcoin but LINK is surging like 5 to 10%. But situations like that does not happen everytime. Everything can happen on crypto or should I say on some altcoins. Some are fake pump and some are real so be careful.

Maybe for some altcoin it could work out but not all can surge or pump. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and when its gone, Im surely think that these altcoins will fall down hard. If you would noticed, most projects are pumping when btc is also gaining on the market. Only few exception can be seen from the coinmarketcap and the numbers of these project can be counted in our hands. If btc gone, maybe it will be also the end or somehow the market cant be effective as like before.

this is what im about to say but you already said it for me although the coins that i see are different and not LINK . never heard of that coin but i think the surge for that coin is only artificial just like on any other ico coins and pump and dump coins .

and yes those coins do not depend on bitcoin all the time but they are only depending the most on thier creator or manipulator but this isnt the op wants to hear because he isnt refering to 1 coin alone but he wants to see all of the altcoins including tokens pump while bitcoin is still down .

Most of them think that altcoins can not survive without Bitcoin. Well, wrong. They have been surviving and investors are still buying those altcoins. It just means that even altcoins are still standing up and will still perform well. With their potential objective in crypto market, investors tend to use some altcoins making their price go up even without btc.

Whenever altcoins dump from 20-50%. Majority thinks it is the end of altcoin. The season for altcoins can possibly happen again. But I am talking those altcoins that has a great potential and not with those coins that are useless in the market.
