Thanks for the reply, so cool.

Aircoin is the epitome of what is needed in the altcoin industry. I'd love to help out with promotion, my community would go nuts for this coin.  Smiley

Is difficulty and block reward inversely related? This seems super cool, just don't have the time at the moment to read all the specs. An answer would be much appreciated.  Smiley

More succinctly, block reward is flat, currently. Block reward and exchange rate, in future versions, will be inversely related once it has been proven on an exchange.

Block reward is constant, it's just that difficulty increasing makes it harder for an individual to get a block.  If you get one though, you will always get the same amount of coins (3.72 AIR, unless you happen to get a bonus  + 0.001 AIR from redistributed security fees).  As difficulty climbs, you'll need to join a pool (even if you have monstrous hashpower, which just allows you to mine AIR longer solo), which pretty much just gives you the reward you would get on your own based on the pool's settings, except it's not an all-or-nothing deal.  With a pool, you can get part of a block as a reward, which in a sense, is kind of like altering the block reward.

air.pitythepool.com has been updated to the new wallet

Assuming github was updated air.ctrlaltdefeated.us is also on the latest wallet. Fee's will be set back at 1% unless you have been donating (no longer applies) in which case you have 0% for the foresable future.

Shhh, that is our secret to getting all the first coins... tell the whole world and diff rises to 10.5 and our reward goes from 80 a day to 0.01 a day... Tongue

Once this hits coinwarz or coinchoose... (after being valued on an exchange), it will turn into every-other-coin quickly, before it settles-in to a nice foundation.

Wallet updated... waiting for the cross-over block now. (Still says v0.8.6.2-gda10b75-beta, in the "About AIRcoin" menu.)

Hope that doesn't make the network reject the blocks/client... internally it shows the same too. While running in the info.

But the zip-file has the correct version, so I think I am good... unless he packed the wrong one. I'll find out in about 300 more blocks! lol

Yeah, a little too quiet at the moment. I fear that so many miners now are just stuck looking for pump and dump coins, so they may glance over something like this. That, or maybe it's just over their heads.. like some of it is to me   Grin

It is so quiet compared too a lot of the hyped launches. This reminds me of mining auroracoin the first week. Kind of enjoying the small increase in difficulty so far, but I guess there is an expiration date for a launch to "catch on" these days.

This is definitely the most innovative coin I've seen. The devs are also clearly brilliant, and seem to be interested in prolonged use and value of AIRcoin and its proprietary protocols, rather than just creating a pump and dump scheme for themselves. It's still too early to tell, but if things go as proposed, this coin can cause a paradigm shift in cryptocurrency.

DEV O here,

The source has been edited, and I've addressed the large file size Git issue. KGW kicks in at block 9108.  As for the wallet version, it is the up-to-date wallet, denoted by the addition of the KGW at the end of the name.  Ignore the 0.8.6.2/0.8.7.1 version misnaming please, it was an error on my end. If you see the KGW in the name and you downloaded it when/after Aether made his post, you have the correct, latest version of the client.  I apologize for the confusion, this won't happen again.

How long do we have to upgrade?

You need to update the wallet before block 9108.

Best,
Aether

I am assuming Dev O forgot to change the name of the wallet. I'll check and get back to you ASAP!

EDIT: Yes, the file NAME is a typo. The version is still 0.8.7.1. I will update the file names online and will let you know when that's done. Otherwise, feel free to use the new wallet with KGW!

Best,
Aether

Hey guys! I'm Aether, AIRcoin web admin and assistant developer. I am happy to announce that we have updated our wallet with KGW! You can download an updated version of our wallet at http://www.teamaircoin.org/download

Bellow is the change log for the new version. Happy mining!

Code:
- Raised the Block maturity time to 40 min (20 blocks).
- New seed nodes built into the code.
- Checkpoints to legitimize our block-chain thus far (critical update).
- Added KGW (critical update, kicks in at block 9108.  Anyone with the patience can do the simple math as to how long they have before they need to download this wallet update to use our currency as of 2/27/2014).
- Minor bug fixes.

If I have understood right, today we can expect new wallet?

Yes. This wallet will implement Kimoto Gravity Well technology as well as a few other tweaks.
