Well this is a great idea. I have listed one of my smaller rigs to test the water and see how stable the platform is.

As mentioned above I think smaller timeblocks would be a good plan to offer more choice. Also a little tidy up of the front end of the website to make it more focused on sales & information for customers that want to hire a rig and tuck away the information about leasing your rig a little more.

Just my 2cents Smiley

Will report back here once I've had some experience with customers etc.

Great looking innovative service! Thanks for creating it.

Suggestion: 2 or 3 days is potentially a long commitment for both the renter and rig owner. Let the rig owner opt in to offering the rental period. Likewise, create 1, 2, 3 ... etc hour rental blocks to allow renters flexibility to try out Betarig's services.

Good idea!
I'll do that just now.

So how does this compare to leaserig?

I will of course be biaised  Grin
But I would say:
- No networking configuration required (no need to make some NAT configuration to expose the administrative API of cgminer in a public IP)
- Not using the administrative API of cgminer: we don't have control over your hardware clocks and intensity settings
- All mining software compatible

But we also have drawbacks at the moment, like:
- Not showing the instant hashrate of the rig -- I'll be working on this
- There is a 1 to 5 minutes time delay to wait between the moment your payment is validated, and the mining rig start working (cgminer waiting 5 minutes to validate a pool is stable before switching to it..)
- It's a new service, so I will still have a few bugs before it gets stable

But I probably don't have all the facts about leaserig, so check them too!  Cheesy

Ok just added the beginning of a FAQ!
http://www.betarigs.com/faq

I wanna ask what should I type in a conf file?

Good question, I never used a conf file... I would say:

Code:
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://eu.betarigs.com:3333",
"user" : "",
"pass" : "x"
},
{
"url" : "",
"user" : "",
"pass" : ""
}
],

But don't take my word on it.

this is so great , finally scrypt cloud mining service what an idea , feeling excited  Cool

but i wonder who controls the conf and clocks of the rig owener or renter ?, since dummy renter can burn your gpu with high clocks , powertune , high intensity ( I20 for example) , etc

i see one of your own gpus got burned  Undecided sorry for your loss

Yes, that was one of my older cards, one fan died, too bad... I'll ask for a replacement!

And yes, the good thing with my system, the renter does not have control over cgminer, he cannot touch the clocks, intensity... And even my website cannot change that -- so if one day I get hacked, well the rigs owners are safe!
For the rig owner, it is just like adding another pool to his pool list he is mining  Grin

cool i will add my rig , this will be like hiring killer , get the job done in deliver the hashes no matter wat your conf is , lol  Cheesy

Does this work with cudaminer?

Normally it should -- Betarigs is just like another pool to the miner softwares. The only thing that could happen is that cudaminer does not behave as expected with the headers I'm sending him, but then I will just fix that. If you want to try to plug your cudaminer, we can make tests together.

For info, the cpuminer software (minerd) works.

And renting is available again!
New since yesterday:
- Rig can't be rented if the rig is not online at the moment
- I'll be acting as a middleman for the payment as well, to prevent scammer rigs.
- Possibility to mark his own rig as down for maintenance
- Mail is sent when your rig is hired
- First rent ongoing
- And a bunches of bugfixes thanks to the interaction with the very first customers

Today, I'll be working on collecting and displaying events on the rig (rig connection/disconnection, pool connection/deconnection, and so forth..)

Leasing a rig is as simple as adding a pool!

cgminer --scrypt -o http://eu.betarigs.com -u -p x -o -u -p ...

For rig owners

  • Register on betarigs.com, add your rig and choose your price
  • Add the arguments given in the website to your cgminer/sgminer startup file (as seen above)

And that's all! No network configuration, no giving full control over your cgminer administrative interface, it's just as simple as that!

By default, the Betarigs "pool" will be seen as inactive by cgminer/sgminer and switch to your usual pool. As soon as someone rents your rig, the Betarigs "pool" will become active and redirect your rig to the tool chosen by the renter. When the renting period is over, your rig goes back to your usual pool.

For rig renters

  • Find your rig on betarigs.com
  • Rent and pay the required sum
  • Wait for payment confirmation, choose the pool where you want the rig to mine on

And that's all!

About the service

This service is brand new and is in beta mode! That means that things may break; but I'll be there to handle and fix stuff as soon as possible. I'll also be adding a bunch of features in the days to come, feel free to tell me what you think is most important!
The fee is 2%.
