Shveicar, don't get me wrong, I also don't like that you can't turn off sending telemetry data by default.
But from a security point of view I can not recommend Win 7 or even XP over Win 10.
Also the basic telemetry data does not contain actual file contents like private keys, but collections of Windows events.
Microsoft even published the whole collection list not too long ago. Just make sure to switch from full to basic telemetry data.
Also Microsoft has no intention to steal your wallet, but cyber criminals exploiting old operating systems actually do.

I agree with this, that if you do not understand the system settings and You are an ordinary user, among the choice of operating system between Windows XP, 7, 8 or 10.
The best solution for you is to trust Microsoft and use Windows 10

But this is so clear, since most users simply have no other choice.

The absolute BEST thing to do, is to setup VMware and run virtual machines for whatever purpose. For desktop machines I run Ubuntu Desktop with VMware player that can run VMs of my choosing. For servers, ESXi 5.5 or 6.0+ to maximize the use of my hardware.

I now have 12 datacenter hosted hypervisors, and 15 various desktops all over the place for whatever purpose.

Linux will win out in the end, but with Ubuntu, you still have to disable their non-open-source search tool. You can do that easily by installing another desktop UI (like cinnamon or original gnome)

Just my suggestions. If anyone needs more information on this, or would like some help setting things up, let me know.

now, back to the topic at hand....

Great work DMD team! You guys have made me a proud DMD holder. I'm quite excited for what will come in the future. I highly anticipate version 2.0. I'm also considering mining DMD on my 150+ GPUs to help support the network, and picking up another masternode on top of my legendary masternode to help further.

If the DMD team needs anything, as far as VMs for servers, I have (as mentioned above) multiple hypervisors in various locations (namely the US and Canada) all being completely rebuilt with custom firewalls, DDOS protection, and VPN connectivity for the people who run things on them, being the only method to connect to SSH, being totally secure. If you guys need any servers, let me know. I'll hook you up. Smiley Free of charge for any DMD related hosting.

This goes for anyone looking to host a DMD related service. Contact me and I'll host it for free.

Thanks and good luck!

shveicar, you are right that basic telemetry can't be disabled in Windows 10 itself.

But there are a few things to consider:

In my opinion Microsoft is not our enemy, they are one of the few corporations who support Bitcoin.
There are a some active DMD users at Microsoft campus in Redmond, I can see them in my logfiles.
Windows 10 network stack is more secure and robust than Windows 7.
New build versions of Windows 10 bring extensive use of code refactoring, many exploits can not be used reliably because of this.
Most of the telemetry features can be disabled with tools, regedit or group policy,
the receiving endpoints of telemetry data can be blocked at the network level, on a router or firewall.

I do not claim that they are "enemies".
I'm just saying that lack of choice, for the version of operating system, creates certain problems for the user and violates his right to privacy.
Perhaps that Microsoft Corporation is decent people, but would you give them a copy of their keys from the apartment for storage voluntarily?  Smiley
My case is to warn, and there the user let himself decide what is more suitable for him.

Of course it is suitable for this.
But I recommend that you use Window 7 for these purposes.
This is the last system in which the control over your PC belongs to the user and not to Microsoft Corporation Wink

Ty @shveicar

I have been using Windows 10 Pro for quite some time.  I turn off all snooping, automatic updates, recording, and advertisement preferences through the necessary control panels and services.  Is there something I am missing?

The fact that in Windows 10 you can't completely disable the sending of your information on servers Microsoft.
Because of the fact that it was possible to do in Windows 7 (assuming that you did not put certain update packs), they decided to change its policy and began to impose users upgrade to version 10.
Who thinks that this is done for the global control system cyber crimes.
For example, if they have access to all user information, they can on the basis of its threat analysis big data, to track users and figure out their location.
That is, in fact, you trust them with your logins, passwords and all your private information with which you are working on Windows 10.
I can give you a few articles where experts say the inability to fully disable all modules spy for Windows 10.
https://aeronet.cz/news/analyza-windows-10-ve-svem-principu-jde-o-pouhy-terminal-na-sber-informaci-o-uzivateli-jeho-prstech-ocich-a-hlasu/
https://arstechnica.co.uk/information-technology/2015/08/even-when-told-not-to-windows-10-just-cant-stop-talking-to-microsoft/

So most users who bought new notebook or PC with Windows 10, no choice but to entrust their funds with whom they work in this system, of Microsoft Corporation.
There are special utilities that allow you to supposedly disable hidden modules inside the operating system, for example DisableWinTracking or Disable Windows Spying
But there is no guarantee that in the next automatic update, will not add to your system is Win 10 of the new spy bookmarks..

I only have 1 dmd address .. So all I need to do is on the 11th, save my wallet.dat then import it to the new wallet app? That simple?
Lock your wallet so no coins stake... and you are set. You
should also have your private key as a fail safe.

Thanks Woody,

I'll lock my wallet now and I'll also back up my wallet.dat just in case. I'm really excited about this new change for DMD and I hope it all goes well when the change happens with minimal problems that might occur. Looking forward to a bright future at DMD and I think people are thinking the same as the price has been going up for days now so people want in on this coin. Good luck everyone!
