That sucks because we had a great discussion going on
Basically I stated that while I am really excited about DOPE being included in SSR with fees waived it doesn't satisfy our hopes for a decentralized market. This is because SSR exists on I2P like the original SR existed on Tor, a hidden service on centralized server. So, there is still a central point of failure, which is what we wanted to eliminate. Also, SSR is in its infancy so while I hope it works out great for everyone it has not yet proven that it is secure, stable, and trustworthy. I stated that it theoretically could disappear at any time leaving us back to square one or worse.
I went on to state that I would like to see Dopecoindude continue his search for a dev who could make us our own decentralized market based on a framework that Dopecoindude had shown me in IRC, or at least maybe get someone who could write us some software to build a framework for accepting DOPE on the Open Bazaar project.
I cautioned against re-directing bounty funds for advertising and pointed out what a disaster squandering funding on advertising had been for Potcoin with their radio ads and bulletin boards etc. I stated the only advertising we need is free: Facebook, Twitter, BCT, etc. I stated that we needed more tools instead to make DOPE more adoptable and that when "we're at the top of Trex with 200 BTC in volume because we're up 2800% in the last 24 hours, motherfuckers will take notice".
We all basically agreed on these points and there was a lot high fiving and warm fuzzies. Dopecoindude also added a point that I forgot to include in my original post: the attention and expected increase in volume/price from SSR would make our bounty start to look very attractive to potential developers. I believe he also mentioned that he has been talking to another dev who might be interested in developing the decentralized market with a different framework that he hasn't shown me yet.
In a subsequent posts, Dopecoindude said he still felt that we could use a little advertising to increase awareness. I stated that we should try to drive traffic to Dopecoin.com the old fashioned way, by delivering valuable content to surfers. This way we would be targeting our key demographics: crypto-geeks like us and the technologically less sophisticated that want to access dark markets but don't know how. I made a few suggestions like:
1. A step by step written guide on how to access the SRR for complete noobs. (be the top result when you google "How to access SRR")
2. A comprehensive guide on OpSec while using Dark Markets like SSR.
3. If the multi-pool is going to support GPU mining, a complete and up to date guide on optimizing your rigs for the latest and most profitable algo of the month.
It was more organic and inspiring the first time around but you get the gist....
