I still believe it needs a serious change to survive.

The coin halving is too slow meaning that many coins are mined, the coin pool is diluted and the price will fall further.

By the time it halves the coin will be way down below 20 sats and become yet another dead coin.

Please save it. Hard fork to a much more limited supply or watch it die slowly.

This is not FUD by the way. I like this coin a lot and have mined and traded it since it started. It is a great coin but it needs to change with the times to survive.

Dopecoin was pretty much replaced by Potcoin...

This is a great idea for coinmixing, should check it out. Would need a change of algo also so a major fork would be needed. But will also make this a coin that stands out from the others.

How about blackjack? I really don't know how to play poker. Don't see too many cryptos on BlackJack either. Is it that bad?
Yeah, I also prefer blackjack to be honest!~ <3

I hear you on this and can totally relate.  Some advice?    Marshal your resources and then ask for help.  You do what you're good at and pay others or enlist volunteers to do the rest.   Don't try to be a one man show if you don't have to.   Let's have some dopecoin fundraisers.    Lay out to this community what work you need done or how much capital you need for bounties and what you're going to do with it.    We could have a high rollers poker tournament with a sizable % going to the development fund.  Your poker game is a lot of fun.  It's an asset, utilize it.     I'm willing to dip into my stash to put up for some bounties if that's what it takes.  I'm sure others are too.  My coin isn't appreciating any by me hoarding it.

This seems like one of the more obvious courses of action. Community funded micro crowdsourcing is one of the cool things you can do with cryptocurrency, even if the whole community only chipped in a little here and there it could add up to a lot in the long run. So yeah the fundraising is a pretty good idea, every major project should have a budget. We shouldn't expect 1-2 people to shoulder the burden of that budget all on their own it should be everyone who has a stake in this coins success. O.o The poker idea is also a bit neat, fundraising by playing games sounds pretty legit. Overall these seem like some badass ideas.

The coin is not dead guys by any means. It just requires some more hard work to get us where we need to be.
The anonymizer technology will be a game changer for this currency as well as entering into our original marketplace.
This is not one of those get rich quick schemes but rather something that was supposed to mature over time. My original gameplan was to have the coin mixer up no later than the end of the 2nd quarter of 2014 and to expect strong worldwide use and valuation by 2015.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to pursue that time frame.
I and others involved with the project have put in tremendous amounts of time and effort in order to provide our community with the faetures and infrastructure needed to thrive. In order to accomplish that, long hours were required by all involved and I personally put other areas of my life on hold to work on DopeCoin.

I am now just getting caught up with my day job and family based obligations and will spend more time and money on DopeCoin to get us to where we need to be. But please also keep in mind that I have other obligations in life, including earning a paycheck and taking care of my family.

I appreciate your understanding in this matter. Alot of time, money and effort has been poured into this project and the original plan is still a top priority of mine. If DopeCoin was the bread winner in my life and provided myself and my family with the financial aspect that is required to live, all of my efforts would remain there. But the fact is simply that I have not made any money whatsoever off of this project and have other obligations that I must also tend to. I am still trying to find the correct balance in order to handle everything on my plate in the best possible fashion.

I agree the coin needs to be moved off scrypt algo. The cost, noise and heat generation compared to other "gpu friendly" algo... you wouldn't do it. I certainly won't mine scrypt coins anymore, its a waste of energy. People are more conscious of being energy efficient these days so I think it would be a step in the right direction for DOPE's image.

I've mined a few of the GPU friendly algo's and I personally found Groestl to be one of the best in terms of energy consumption, noise and heat generation as well as stablility which is important. I could let the miner run for a week without having to worry about checking it or rebooting the rig every day.

As for POS... I like the idea of POS as its very energy efficient, but at the moment its a bit of a fad movement like country coins were. Lots of POS coins popping up because the idea is great and they are popular. However I think following the trend with POS would be a wrong move at least for now. I think emerging POS coins are seen by experienced cryto investors with the view they are just trying to ride the wave created by the coins that pioneered POS to snatch a quick profit, adding nothing new or of value to the crypto world.
It would be bad for DOPE's image if it were bundled into that category of coins.

As for lighting a fire under DOPE and off the launch pad... well that's going to take some innovative thinking from some peeps with a sound understanding of the crypto world and where its headed. Devising and implementing industry changing features that will set the standard for cryptocurrency architecture, functionality and security.

One of the problems I can see with crypto currency be accepted more widely is its willingness to be accepted by retailers or as payment in general. I think a big part of this is due to the crippling volatility that all coins experience due to market manipulation in various forms. Finding a way to stabilize the value would go a long way to gaining acceptance as a viable form of payment.

No mean feat I know.

Second problem is scammers. Designing a payment/transfer system that keeps payee and payer honest would go a long way to help peeps feel safe using DOPE to both buy and sell.

I guess crypto's face all the same issues security wise as digital fiat so maybe looking into how these issues are managed and go from there.

Again with the mining.  Look like miners have got their union here too.
Mining is irrelevant for a coin.

Without people using it to buy sell stuff it can be so miner friendly as it can , it will still die.

Yup... this coin can go nowhere without the support of the miners. I've been saying that for some time now. Thinking long term does not mean you can bypass evolution. If something needs to be done to stay competitive or attractive, it needs to be done, or the coin will just phase out. Nobody is going to mine scrypt now unless its a much hyped up coin with a potential to make a quick buck in the first week of launch. Look at guncoin that just released a while back. Great market possibilities with a focused market, reliable devs, good designs, etc. But fuckin Scrypt!! Both net hashrate and prices are dropping fast after that initial craze of mining for teh first week. If its not profitable to mine, no one will. Everything is downhill if miners cannot mine them profitably. No amount of coin mixing or poker tournaments is going to save the coin if there is no incentive to generate it.

I would suggested the following :

CAIx

Updates:

Update1: As we mentioned earlier, we are building a few revenue generating streams to invest in CAIx and generate profits to shareholders. As we have made a major step today of converting most of the CAI to CAIx. We are glad to report that our first project Tiny Elementals has generated 28 BTC in income. Of that 14 BTC will be set aside for dividend payout to CAIx holders. There is also plans for partnership on this project as well.
We are discussing ways to make such income payable in BTC to holders, or use it to make CAIx purchases at market price. However the second option might cause a reduction in coin amount on the market, so we will choose the best method for delivery that will benefit the CAIx price long term. We might consider buying a portion equal to the staked amount on CAIx and deliver the rest with another method, to kill the 5% inflation rate. This will be updated as new ideas come to mind as far as distribution is concerned. We are also interested in hearing your idea on how to do this. So please post on this thread if you have an idea as how this can be done efficiently and effectively.

Remeber this Cheesy but change CAIx into DOPEx

I feel bad the dev on this coin tbh. I've been following on the sidelines since the beginning, and seems he has invested a lot personally in this project. Sadly i don't see this coin as providing something unique, other than a cool name. There's Darkcoin for every one who values anonymity, there's already a decentralised marketplace concept in place(https://github.com/goshakkk/decentralized-anonymous-marketplace-concept), there's Dark Wallet incoming for bitcoin.

Going directly for the consumers is bold, but i fear it wont work other than in the very long term. By then i would suspect the dev will have run out of money long before that happens. To me, it seems that the value in an altcoin comes from the already existing cryptocurrency-community, not from newcomers. So the ones that appeal to miners and speculators win. Blackcoins multipool stunt and Darkcoins masternodes are two examples. Bitcoins are already the established currency of the dark web marketplaces, so why should they choose DopeCoin?

To be short, Dopecoin didn't provide anything unique from the beginning. And the stuff you can implement to make it better, is already in place on other coins.

Right now, i think the only return you will get on this coin, is the inevitable pump and dump that will happen because of very low volume

yup, seems like pos is the desired algo anymore.
everyone is aware of the asic/scrypt issues.
perhaps we can go pow/pos.
would bring ALOT of needed attn back to this coin.
also,
might want to remove "pmtocoins" exchange from OP page ... there gone no?

I've addressed this SEVERAL TIMES!!!!! He indeed put a lot of personally time in this project, but he needs to understand his mistakes... it is like the stock market, don't put your money in a coin that is always dropping, put it in those that goes up, as those that are always dropping will go for Chapter 11.

I told him what he has to do.

1. Launch a Poker Tournament, something like win 1,000,000 entry fee 50,000 DOPES, so when only 20 people join he already make profit, and people will love to play it.

2. Start a multipool, network hashrate for Dope is not too bad, so a lot of people can be interested.

3. Reduce the block reward, this coin is being deflated too much... Supply is too high, and he is not able to increase demand, so reduce supply.

4. Maybe indeed go directly to POS!!!! and with a little hype around his Poker Tournaments, we can see 1000sats

5. I hope that he start understanding the altcoin market!!! I believe he is a great business men, but don't have a clue how altcoin market works.
