So any idea why my wallet balance went from 55+ MFLAP to 0.00013555709161 MFLAP.

All the transactions that add up to the 55+ show up in the ledger  Huh

Actually, my balance is 0, the unconfirmed balance is 0.00013555709161  Sad

Also, part of block 700779 appears to be a POS transaction to me for 398,608.56228901 FLAP, which doesn't show up in the ledger or (obviously) my balances...

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/flap/block.dws?700779.htm

you are reading the block explorer wrong. the first transaction is Generation + fees (0 coins), the second transaction is what you staked
it looks like you staked 10 flap and made a profit of 0.00549315 FLAP which will be added to your balance one the staking blokc matures.

the other two transactions were people just sending coins on the chain to other wallets. they have nothing to do with your wallet and you wont gain coins from them, you just processed their transactions.

edit: did you add rescan=1 to your config file?

Rescanning now Smiley

edit: BTW, the first of the other two transactions are all from addresses in my wallet to the POS address in my wallet (and the other 0.88 flap to someone else).  I didn't send any of those, I haven't sent anything in months...

Rescan finished, no change to balances Sad

edit 2:  Actually I sent menlatin a test transaction on 9/10

in your wallet folder where your chain and wallet.dat are stored. there isnt a wallet.bak or anything else in there is there?

Nope, just the wallet.dat (and the logs and peers.dat).  There's a .lock file dated 7/2 though...

I do have wallet backups taken before the last 3 updates. Perhaps there's an issue with the most recent one. I had 4.0.2 running often (and staked quite a bit) since roughly 8/14/2015...

Perhaps I should try the wallet.dat from 7/2?

Are you looking at this from inside your wallet?  I'd say it is because they are currently staking, if you want to prevent this you can encrypt your wallet (however you won't earn any coins unless you unlock it for a while).  If your not looking at it from inside your wallet I'd say open it and check the staking balance.

I shut everything down and restarted the wallet, balance and stake at 0, unconfirmed still at 0.00013555709161 MFLAP

to get your balance of your wallet open your wallet. dont rely on block explorers to tell you your balance. just open your wallet and see it.

also for staking. total balance - staking balance = available balance

if the balance is displaying wrong, add rescan=1 to your flappycoin.conf file and restart your wallet

be sure to remove rescan=1 after the wallet starts up again though because if you keep it then it will rescan every time the wallet opens

How well are transactions going through for yall, or are you having to process your own transactions right now?  I've got one transaction that has been pending for close to 20 hours despite all the recently processed blocks; are nodes just not relaying transactions to each other well because of the limited network size?

what block is the transaction in? cuz 20 hours doesnt mean much if only 10 blocks has gone by

Hasn't hit a block, here's the transaction ID: b534da9eeb6feee6e40751bb7c0a16ab890bb09c241a2fc7519d05730de9195c-000 wallet says it was broadcasted through 5 nodes, but has zero confirms.  It could just be slow to propogate through though.  I can always stake the transaction myself in two days.

This one?

Yup, I take it that it just went through?  I guess I should have waited a few extra hours to post...  Although I guess it looks like it is taking a few hundred blocks to get a transaction in sometimes or I'm just unlucky?  Thanks for the update

A Qt button that unlocks the wallet (so you don't have to open the console), when pressed it would prompt you for your password and then ask for how long you'd like to stake.  Also, this might be work than it's worth, but is it possible to make the minimum stake time vary based on time since last transaction (like difficulty)?

i was under the impression that there was a button to do this under the settings where the encrypt wallet options is as i have seen it there in multiple other coin wallets however this is not the case. could probably copy and paste the code for the option there from another wallet if this is desired by many. cuz y write it myself if its already done XD

do you guys want this?

and you dont want a varying minimum time for a few reasons, 1. more calculations to do and wallet takes additional clock cycles. also its kinda just a hassle since a flat rate time works fine by itself. theres also some calulation thigns with finding it thats annoying to work out... but yeah. someone in the previous post found the time it will take to get a consistant chain with no additional support anyway (nice job friend) so its okay the way it is

Griffith thank you for the good explanation!

so in 1-2 weeks there should be enough transactions for steady block generation.

EDIT: calculated it: at current rate (no additional wallets, all wallets keep open) it would take 15 days. this is okay i think Smiley

Ah..., it does appear like you have to unlock your wallet if it is encrypted to stake... Is there a way around this, otherwise a button in qt might not be a bad addition?  Although, I guess you can still go to the console and change it.

you MUST have your wallet unlocked if it is encrypted to stake. this is true for all PoS coins. this is because it needs to use your private encryption key (the key you use to unlock) to create the staking transactions.

im confused on the second part of your post. a qt button to do what exactly? unlock the wallet? or start staking?

you ran out of valid transactions to stake so you stopped staking. staking just doesnt happen at X interval. it is dependent on the transactions in your wallet. when the chain stops it is because 1, no one is staking. 2, the people who are staking have no more transactions to stake

isnt the blocktime too fast? 30 seconds...

Code:
Details for Block #700483 Date/Time	2015-11-11 10:55:23
Details for Block #700484 Date/Time 2015-11-11 10:55:54
Details for Block #700485 Date/Time 2015-11-11 10:56:25

in the Readme you say: Block Time: 60 Seconds
https://github.com/FlappycoinDEV/flappycoin/blob/master/README.md

Min Stake Age: 3 days
Max Stake Age: 21 days
So when i send flappycoin to a second wallet, it will stake after 3 days, what are the 21 days, will it stake again?

What can we do? Do many transactions?

Menlatin: is your wallet open?
Griffith: any idea what you or we can do?

menlatins wallet is open hence the first 440 blocks,
and you every time you stake the trasnsaction splits into 2, so eventually it will stake every 30 seconds. so next time menlatins coins become available to stake. there will be 880 blocks from the same set of transactions as created this 440. and then the next time is 880*2 and so on. but this will take days to rack up that amount. this is if he doesnt ever send any coins. but basically we just need more people on the network staking.

Ok, so would it be a good idea to split balances across several wallet addresses so that we can get a more consistent blocks?  Also does our wallet need to be unlocked to stake?  (I may have decommissioned mine for a while... I tried sending a test transaction that got stuck..., so I may have to wait a while till my coins are availible to stake (on a side note, is the delay 3 days or some other time?))

*edit: Well I see chef bauer just put the minimum wait for my stake time question.

it doesnt matter how many wallets you have, it just matters how many valid transactions you have that are stakeable.

NOTE: the min stake age can be lowered at any time without issue incase the 3 day minimum is too high for a stake to be stakeable again.

At day 3 your coins can stake, but the max weight they will have in 21 days, if a lot of people is staking with big wallets is probable you dont stake the day 3, your opportunities growth up the day 21

your mostly right, at day 3 your coins do become stakeable again. at 21 days it means they will stake as soon as possible. so basically if you open your wallet for 1 day every 21st day you will stake as often and gain as many coins as someone who had the same amount of coins as you but left thier wallet open the whole time. if you wait any longer than 21 days inbetween staking sessions you are losing potential coins through staking because you wont be staking as often as you could be.
