Hello,

Recently I withdraw my Bitcoins from Bitstamp to kraken using my old address (2017). After 6 confirmations, I noticed that the bitcoin is not on my account. I had a conversation with the support team and told me that my bitcoins would be delayed due to changes of address and will be charged by a small fee which is okay with me.  I asked them at least a timeframe when will be updated and they told me that it can take months depending on the developer.

Is there any thing I could do to expedite the process and getting my bitcoins from my old address to newly generated address? I think it would be unfair if I will wait for months.

Be happy that you will be getting them at all. I've heard plenty of stories from people who got nothing in these cases on other exchanges.

I have a couple questions.

How much does it cost for domestic USD wire withdrawals? For US traders, is a IDCP always required for Intermediate verification? How about SSN?

Thanks.

exstasie,

Domestic USD withdrawals have a 5 USD fee. And yes, US traders will need to provide both an IDCP and their SSN for Intermediate verification. Funding capabilities/limits, as well as the specific requirements for each verification level can be found by accessing the Get Verified page when logged into your Kraken account.

Erm, isn't that what the backing's for?
Well, even with backing - ERC20 infrastructure can go wrong.
And if it does - one would need some kind of proof of ownership, and funny enough it would be possible only with funds stored on a reputable exchange. (From a backer standpoint, because they would need to pay up by some external data)

The problem is that for fiat there are tax considerations.

You'd better check your local tax laws because in the UK and US at least you're just as taxable when you trade into the most loathsome shitcoin as you are for a genuine dollar.

If they're all ERC20 tokens, they can all fail at the same time.

Erm, isn't that what the backing's for?

That is true but how about diversify in multiple stable coins!
They can't fail all at once or am I wrong?

Wouldn't your worries go away if you'd just hold your funds yourselves guys? If you're all so worries about who's securing your funds, just deposit what you're planning to exchange and then withdraw back!

That's the only way I've been doing things forever!
So shitty banking is ok... not.

I was supposing that people are storing cryptocurrencies in exchanges, not fiat. But if we're talking about holding fiat in an exchange or a bank, I'd choose bank any time!
There are so many scum exchanges out there which are much worse than banks.
Kraken is fine, from my personal experience it's the best and most supportive exchange I've used, but they can't be immune, there's always a chance they might get hacked and they'll have to resort in haircutting our balances... so what I was saying was that it's better to keep your funds on your own hands (if you have good security habits).

So at 11PM (French time) last night there was a spike at 9604,97€/BTC

All day I see that on my phone as the highest price of the last 24 hours.

It's still the case right now.

Yet I had a sell order at 9600€ and it didn't execute. It's still there.

What's up with that ?

aesma,

Sorry to hear about this. If you haven't already, please open a support ticket, provide the specific details of your order, and a member of the trading team can look into your case further.
