1.) Test implement PoS
2.) Update website BEFORE fight so that it clearly shows how to buy NAUT
3.) Layout long term plan - 6 months + (which I am working on now)

These are three small steps for NAUT, a giant leap for alt-coins world!  Wink

going to buy some more

and p.s. BK_PHI, we really should be looking at best/worst practices of other alt-coins.  the community can certainly help with this!

on a side note, i overheard some co-workers talking about the jon fitch mma fight on july 5th.  they were extremely perplexed as to what nautiluscoin is ... and i was more than happy to explain it to them!

Love that co-workers were talking about the Fitch fight!!!  hopefully the momentum is just beginning.

As for best/worst practices - I agree we need to look around and see what others are doing - but most important IMO is to compete with economics - that is our value proposition.   I have a few ideas that I am fleshing out right now - but mostly I am spending time today finishing my book on Bitcoin/alts.  Of course NAUT is a big part of the book!

I think the next steps are this:

1.) Test implement PoS
2.) Update website BEFORE fight so that it clearly shows how to buy NAUT
3.) Layout long term plan - 6 months + (which I am working on now)

Great work and thanks for the update. I'm also pretty excited about the fight and POS implementation.

Yea, I first heard about Bitcoin on an episode of The Good Wife. I checked it out, planned to buy some... the only real option at the time was Mt Gox. I got an account and they wanted a copy of my drivers lic. Um... I stopped at that point. Still not sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing, cause the price at that time was much lower. ;(
Lol the same thing happened to me  Cheesy I read about Bitcoin when it was a few cents, but didn't buy any until they were around 80$! Thankfully Bitcoin only started the trend, and now we got altcoin with as much, or more, promise.

Speaking of promises, didn't the developers hope to have a beta for PoS going by now? Smiley In the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal if it takes a while, but it seems like a lot of development is on hold until PoS is over and done. I have my fingers crossed that we'll get there before July the 5th Smiley

I'm still actively working on my project, it doesn't rely on PoS :-) But I am making it NAUT exclusive.

Awesome! This was how Bitcoin started getting traction - people saw it in different circumstances and some went "Huh, I should check that out". This is still a very niche market, so the coins that can get the most traction early on will rise very quickly. Most people can only name Bitcoin and MAYBE Dogecoin. A handful might have heard of Litecoin too, but that's more uncertain. Now we have a group of people who will go "Digital currencies? Like Bitcoin and uhh.. Nautiluscoin, right?". This will be a great base to build upon from here.

I like the idea of investing in/expanding the NSF. I'd park some BTC or cash in exchange for a return paid in NAUT. Could split the profits between the fund and investors for example. Returns can be excellent if you have a plan and a system to minimize risk, would be a full time job for somebody though.

I wouldn't trust anonymous people on twitter regardless of reputation, seen too many "hacks" and scam IPOs.
Exactly! I don't even feel comfortable trusting reputable exchanges like Mintpal with my coins, so I certainly wouldn't want some anonymous trader managing my portfolio. It would have to be someone with a proven track record, and someone well known. It would indeed be a full time job, but on the other hand only people who can make a living trading crypto should be considered competent enough to manage a portfolio.

Also, the transactions times are really fast right now. Thanks to BK renting the ASICs until we're in the clear I suppose?

Half my BTC are still frozen on my stamp account... Want my NAUT POS wallet on a fresh OS with no mining software or anything, was hoping for an update today actually. It's really worth thinking about those returns if you get on bittrex early and know what you're doing. If we bought a chunk of the new darkcoin for example we could really boost the NSF.

VRC has gone up more than 5 times in the past week... just a nice reminder of what can happen to a coin that gets some momentum Smiley They also switched to PoS a little over a month ago. I see something very similar happening to NAUT once we're at the next stage of development.

Not to talk too much about VRC, but they introduced a pretty nice feature called veribit.  It allows VRC to automatically be accepted anywhere bitcoin is already accepted.  It would be smart for nautiluscoin to copy and integrate that feature.  I say there's no reason not to pick up best practices from other coins and also try to avoid making the same mistakes as other coins.

That's a real game changer. Will it be hard to replicate?
It's a pretty cool feature, I agree. I also like the idea of copying the best ideas, but it's important to keep developing new things that distinguished Nautiluscoin from the rest. If all we do is add existing tech we'll always be one step behind. I'd say we need to keep a balance between the two, and only add things that are true game changers to avoid becoming labeled as a copycat coin.

Maybe add a feature to the coming Nautiluscoin PoS multipool that allows people to donate a small part of their mining profit to the NSF? Like a slider that you can set from 0%-100%, and whatever you choose gets donated to provide stability to your investment? That will allow everyone who mines at the pool to help out in more ways than one, and would be a feature that would really distinguish Nautiluscoin in a lot of ways. BK what do you think about that? Smiley

I hope NAUT will be about longevity, growth of stability fund and commitment/experience from BK. Nothing wrong with updating the coin but should give credit to the dev or possibly pay for his/her services. There were some great ideas regarding the NSF earlier and I like the idea of buying into it with those funds being used to purchase a basket of different promising currencies for example. There's so much in the pipeline potentially.
Yes, I personally feel like Nautiluscoin's selling point should be economic, rather than purely technical, innovation. Your idea about buying a basket of currencies is very interesting. Maybe we could set up a sort of hedgefund managed by an experienced trader that would pay out in Nautiluscoin? As you said there are so many things that can be built into this coin, and I feel like the multipool and PoS can play a big part in this.

A lot of economic innovation in crypt is impossible without a public and economically competent person involved, since the level of trust required would have to be very high to allow people being comfortable having someone else manage their investment. Luckily we got BK to rely on, and he can probably bring in other people with a similar background who can come up with lots of interesting ideas Smiley

Hey, whoever is running the bot on Mintpal, hey good job, that's the slowest bot I've ever seen!!  Cheesy

Something is up with them, I guess they are under attack, last night they were really slow, so I removed all my NAUT and BTC. I got caught up in the Cryptorush exchange when they were attacked, at the time a lot of withdrawal address were closed, so I had to SELL coins at a loss to convert to other coins that I could withdraw, it was a bloody blood bath, but at least I got most of my funds out. After that experience I first now don't keep lots of coins on exchanges and if any exchanges seems "slow" at anytime I remove any coins of value.

I think somebody has a trading bot running on NAUT on Mintpal; it could be Mintpal themselves I suppose in order to maintain the appearance of liquidity. But these bots for the most part aren't very sophisticated and always exhibit the same trading behaviors. I like squeezing their margins down to nothing.
