If they do not provide soon to be updated, I think the Dev Team will take
care of the disregard of these "heedless" ... in some manner.

Why are they able to do that? I thought the update was a hard fork which should have made old wallets useless.

Often when blockchain versions are compatible, as in our case, is granted a grace period,
to give way to each of migrating to the latest version.
Finished this grace period, or with a later update, the old versions are finally driven out by the network.

Someone could not even be aware of the last update and should be informed in some way.

Can they still do damage, whether on purpose or by accident?

No, I do not think there is any risk.

As the data provided by GreedyJohn GregOfDoom confirm, the large majority of the nodes has been
successfully updated quickly, and this makes the network robust and secure.

In the worst case scenario, the nodes with old obsolete version could create a small fork
between them, but only harm themselves, because the rest of the network and exchange
refuse their blocks and their transactions.

So, no, there are no risks ... at least for us.
They are only the old nodes to risk now, and they should decide to wake up, now or in
the next update.

This is my opinion, unless corrections DevTeam.

Given that you have a lot of connections and therefore a better point of view,
you could do me a favor and check if there are others careless peers, please?

Remy_5, I have 54 connections. People still use the old wallets.

Thank you, you have been very kind and helpful as always.

There are not many, but they are not even a few. Hmmm...   Undecided

MY WALLET HAS 57 ACTIVE CONNECTIONS TO NAVAJOCOIN NETWORK. This is the best record so far!

GreedyJohn, at the moment I only have 16 connections, and through the command
getpeerinfo, I see that at least one of the peer has not yet taken steps to update
to the current version mandatory "subver": "/NavajoCoin:2.0.4/".

nice Remy... we think alike. I was going to add the coin but was pressed for time...thanks for completing the project Smiley

I  was amazed at how you are able to integrate well and quickly an image taken for
a joke and have given him a sense. My compliments.

I just ruined your image a bit, and I would have to alternate better levels of snowflakes
and coins, to give more depth to the image.

The character in the photo intrigued me, and I found out who it is: "Ragnar" the official
mascot of the Minnesota Vikings, it looks like a singular type.
His site:
http://www.ragnartheviking.com/

Who would like to see him in "action", while parodies of cheerleaders, here's a video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh4HJilqEyQ

It is my duty to advise against the vision from people faint of heart and pregnant women.

Another clumsy attempt to imagine Ragnar \ Hashforce in his role in the defense:

In terms of compiling for linux, there's no zip, you can clone the source from Soopy's github: https://github.com/sherlockcoin/navajocoin
I confess confusion. That's where I got the zip FROM, actually. There's a link on the right side of the page about midway down labeled "Download ZIP" and pointing to
https://github.com/sherlockcoin/navajocoin/archive/master.zip
(although when I download it the filename is actually "navajocoin-master.zip", not "master.zip". I didn't realize the link and filenames could be different.)
The zip contains instructions for 2 alternate installation methods for installing "navajocoin-qt" for Debian type systems (such as 'buntus). Both seem to require only the files in the zip and stuff on the distro's regular repo. There are also instructions for installing a CLI-only (no gui) version.  Are you outlining another method of doing the same things? Or something else that has to be done first? I was under the impression "git" was software for collaboration between programmers working on the same project. But it sounds like you are saying that
"git clone http://www.Github.com/sherlockcoin/navajocoin"
(without quote marks) is the equivalent of downloading the zip and then extracting it. Reading the article on "git" in wikipedia I get the vague idea it may be inherently more secure, at least if you are going to be downloading succeeding revisions. Am I making any sense? If I'm reading them right, the instructions in the zip say all I have to do is open the file navajocoin-qt.pro (provided in the zip) with qtcreator (which is in the Ubuntu Trusty repo) and it will create an executable file "navajocoin-qt" which I gather is a gui ap for receiving and disbursing Navahocoins. That sure sounds simple. Is there any reason not to do it that way?

Any way I've downloaded the zip twice, about a day ago and again a few hours ago. Both files have a sha512sum of

6b82f85118c3b87f049834c79c4e51c608049cb0adbe3fffc68101373b10dbcb312f0fccab1411e c542349961189dfef686ee48a7718860d6a3b9982375e75f9

Failing devs with published public keys and signed hashes or an apt repository that handles that under the hood the way Debian-family repos do, it would be nice if y'all would at least publish the appropriate hashes. That's not something that needs to wait for the next release. It only takes a minute. I don't mean to sound whiny. I do appreciate the efforts y'all have gone to and I hope it profits you. And finagle knows, I may have totally misunderstood something. You may think I'm ridiculously paranoid, but these kinds of precautions are common with security-critical software. And software that has the potential to render government monopolized fiat currencies irrelevant anachronisms threatens the interests of some of the most powerful and most evil people on the planet. I don't think that's melodrama, just realism. So, yeah, I PRACTICE being paranoid. Cause practice makes perfect. Smiley I just hope we're all perfect ENOUGH if the smelly stuff ever really hits the fan. Thanks for your efforts.

HI,

when you download the zip from github, it is exact the same as exporting the repo with the "git clone" command. Github just offers alternative ways to download these files. The zip is an automated generated zip file when pressing download as zip! I don't think we are able to add a checksum to this file, but we will investigate!

In near future we will host the windows and MAC wallet on our own space and will also place a checksum of these files on our homepage!

When you are a linux user, you have to get the actual files from github and choose wether you like to have a gui or just commandline. When compiling the QT the way using QT creator or commandline qt is the correct way. I am only using commandline wallet for linux it is faster compiling.

I hope I read your post right! If you have further questions, feel free to contact us, or post here!

regards
shahim
