I like SIA, I love the technology and possible applications to enterprise.

I think that in the next few years there's going to be amazing growth in this sector and that it is *smart* to be there, here and now, to carve your market.

However

I've been reading the past few pages of this discussion and something was made very apparent, at least, to me...

I'm talking as a business owner (20+ years) and not as an investor (own exactly 0 SiaCoins).

I think that, at this point in time, unmitigated "investor angst" is very quickly turning into reputational damage.

Reputational damage, damage to your Brand, is extremely hard to recover from, even harder that early in the game. There are disappointed investors out there attacking the brand because they lost money... damage to your Brand is what you should be worried about because this will absolutely jeopardize Client Adoption and Retention down the line, which is exactly what you need.

I understand that the team doesn't see SiaCoin as a speculative vehicle and are beyond tired of hearing calls for news or updates just to pump the price (I would be sick and tired of hearing that too), but the hard fact is that for a lot of people out there, SiaCoin is merely an investment, and I think a holistic/global approach that combines the view that SiaCoin is an investment + meant to be used on the network, not just one or the other, but both, would be beneficial and create VALUE for everyone involved.

That's where a dedicated Investor relations or PR person would come in...

Just sharing some thoughts with you all Smiley

I would just correct one sentence:
"for a lot of people out there, SiaCoin is merely an SPECULATIVE ASSET"
Most people ou there don't care about any project, except for the hype it can make to boost prices.

In crypto space investors/speculators playing fud games is the norm, so is scam coins pumping high on false promises and vaporware. Crypto history is full of proven scams and dodgy projects pumping high, and some like DASH and Larimer projects have shacken off the scam history and suffer no obvious reputational damage despite very shady histories.

With SIA we have a great project, with no hint of scams or dodgy behaviour from the dev team, and their reputations are first class.

Whinging investors leading to reputational damage is laughable

Too bad that storage utilization is only 2%. If this percent will grow in the future then it'll translate into a natural grow for the coin. Like the idea anyway.

"buy low sell high"

you can translate this as:

"buy when nobody want it, sell when everybody want it"

well. whatever

what's up with filecoin ?
High values ICO have always demonstrated big lack of development and high consumption of cocaine and hookers while not working for months.

also the price always sudden drop once the coin get on exchanges

I think Sia needs a good marketing campaign.
Best example is the trello roadmap. It looks like Sia is a project from hobby coder for a little group of enthusiasts. But it doesn't meet the taste of the people who just search for a good investment or cheap cloud technology.

The course of sia looks very bad at the moment. Have nevertheless the hope that it goes up again soon.
Currently you need a quiet hand as a hodler Grin

One of the reason that Siacoin is going deeply down right now, is not just because the bitcoin is surging high.

It is because FileCoin just came out(they basically do almost the same as sia, which means they are fighting for the same slot) and they just funded about 300M$ through an ICO, which is crazy.

The success is riding sia back as money goes from sia to filecoin is my opinion.

I feel that price correction of Sia is just coming to an end and from this point we will move up really strong.
Development is first class and this coin is on my radar to add more to my holdings.

I bought 1 million on this down turn. I think its blue skies soon...
holding will be the key here as correction might be ending now and uptrend will be next in line as crypto really make good fluctuations
better to buy while its still at low who knows maybe tomorrow or the following day the price will surge up again.

What happend with price? 200 satoshi?

Same thing that is happening to most other coins right now. Bitcoin is marching to $4,000 so the alts are taking a hit.

That is pretty amazing! I'll look into it now, to see if I can get my game hosted on Sia.

Also, I can see a lot of uses for enterprise as well, just the encryption and the security aspect of the project are really interesting. Good for legal, finance, etc.

I have a question about Sia - not price related

Can this cloud solution be used to store simple websites and browser games?

Would love to give this a go

Recently, after a bounty offered by Nebulous, we had available an integration of the popular object container Minio with Sia. That means webpages hosted in popular places like Azure or Amazon S3 can be can use the storage layer of Sia: https://blog.sia.tech/introducing-s3-style-file-sharing-for-sia-through-the-new-minio-integration-bb880af2366a

For example, if you click on this image: http://minio.luxor.tech/public/obelisk_chip.png it will actually be retrieved from the Sia network (well, actually is more probably going to be on the cache of the server, but you get an idea).

Is there anything major in the pipeline for Sia currently?

I'd say this is pretty major news that seems to be unrecognized.  Sia accomplished a working backend S3 style server using Minio.  This coin should be going up in value.  Imagine an Imgur(ish) type service based on Sia storage.  If you're running a service and storage cost is giving you the blues, here's your solution!

https://blog.sia.tech/introducing-s3-style-file-sharing-for-sia-through-the-new-minio-integration-bb880af2366a?source=collection_home---4------0--------------

Thats some good news! Another positive thing is, Sia can only drop another few hundred sat, but where's the ceiling? Cheesy Now is buy time.  I can see bright future!
