The ASIC thing is disappointing IMO. Not that they're switching to ASIC, but the fact that they take the money immediately and that it could take a year to deliver. That BTC or ETH will be worth way more than $2500 by the time they actually ship, IF they ever ship. Seems like a rip-off to me. A year in the crypto world is also an eternity and who knows if SC will still be an interesting/profitable project by then.  Undecided

Anyone withdrawn SC from polo lately? Whats the current wait time for approval of pending transactions?
Well I don't know if it is coin related but I've been waiting for three weeks for an ETH withdraw.  One Sia withdraw failed ( only 10 sia.. ) and that was four weeks ago... still waiting

how can you check the balance on a siacoin address?

any ideas?

block explorer looks like it only lets you search transactions, not addresses ....

Currently, balances can't be checked.

Presumably the block explorer will one day be updated to allow this but it's evidently not a priority atm.

wow, not being able to check balance for an address ... that's a pain, hopefully devs can make this feature a priority.

What? a priority? Why? I don't care about how much other people have in their wallets...that 'priority feature' offers no value to the coin's purpose. If I want to know my own balance, I'll just check my wallet.

Devs, do what you have to do you're all doing a great job!  Wink

If you own siafunds in a cold storage wallet there's no way to check how much you're earning from the 3.9% fees, so it's a feature I'm looking forward to, when devs have time

Any news on the block explorer allowing address searching yet? I have 5 siafund in cold storage, would like to see how many fees they've been paid so far.

Be careful mining this coin. There is not working wallet for the coins.

I had to reinstall the SIA UI wallet and now the Seed and password phrase does not work anymore.
How the hell this coin can have this huge market cap if the wallet is a piece of shit.

Now I have stoppepd mining this coin because of the wallet problems.

Ok now I got it up and running by using force init command to make a new wallet and then I recovered old wallet from the old seed.

Sounds like a you problem. My wallet is working fine. Glad you got it working.

maybe you just have the problem and you don't know how to move your coins. Elementar things if you don't want to lose money.

Guys, can someone please enlighten me on one specific issue: I am mining Sia and have transferred some proceeds to my local wallet. Will I be able to keep transferring to that same address or will I HAVE TO generate a new address every time, i.e. not being able to use the threshold-auto-payout function in the pool?

As with many other cryptocurrencies, a wallet is a collection of addresses. Every time you ask the client UI to give you an address it will be a new one (for security an anonymity reasons), but the old ones will keep working forever. Just be sure to never lose the recovery seed of your wallet ;-)
Thanks, that's what I thought, but just wanted to make sure! Smiley

Anybody has experience with hosting?

I would like to try but not sure which prices should i put

Check this handbook first: https://forum.sia.tech/topic/1037/the-hosting-handbook

The most competitive hosts are targeting at the $1-2 as price per Tb/month. Bandwidth costs should be lower than storage pricing. Collateral optimally 2-3x the storage costs. Be sure to have a huge collateral budget if you plan to offer several TB's

I see many people complaining about there are too many coins in circulation for the value to rise.
But do you know cloud storage will appeal amongst the masses and branch out to a population bigger than just people who want to buy anonymously with crypto such as Bitcoin.
If it breaks into this market in any scale, the price will fly.
Definitely a coin with great potential that has a good future. You'd be mad not to get in while it's cheap.
you got some point there mate, as we knew demands will hype the value of any project and if what this coin serve its purpose for sure things will be lighten up and the value will rise above our expectations, many things already happen inside crypto world and there's no exemption regarding to sia project while the dev continue to brings uses for his creation.

Hi, tell me please, how restore old wallet v0.3.3.3 to the new?

In the command line of the UI type "siac wallet load 033x (path of your wallet)"

is it true Nebolous labs gets a cut (something around 3%) for each storage contract???  Huh Huh Huh Huh

Every file contract pays a fee of 3.9%. Those are paid to SiaFund holders. Only 10.000SF are available. 1200 were sold in an ICO. The rest is owned by the developers. It is an excellent way to encourage the devs to keep working for the success of the platform, as they'll have benefits only if Sia gets massive adoption.

It's an interesting information, didn't know that. It's great for motivate the developers, true.
yeah right, more developers will be encourage to use the platform and for sure in every coin that will be develop using this platform it will hype
the value of sia lets all be positive and think for the best, sia still undervalued coin for me even its already rise up to maybe x10 or more, there's
a lots of improvement to happen.
