Found what may be causing the issue. I had set a protocol switch to occur on Christmas for testing and may have missed a timestamp. Still debugging to figure out if that was it, but I believe it could be the cause

With that being said...what I see with the protocol switch (and what I believe we are currently using) is an interesting, unintended change...I may decide to leave it to further assist with inflation control
good morning Smiley it is good news a solution is on the way

Well, it's actually quite interesting what we have right now if I'm reading it correctly...

Blocks are still being found, so if it is doing what I think it is, obviously some people are still staking, so once it's explained, it may actually become an accidental, but viable, solution to inflation

just to make sure we are all on the same chain, you can type "getblockhash 140600" in the console and you should get

05a9237e394ea0343573bb36df3904d686e79577555b5c5bb2ee94a2c9739b54
mine matches the block explorer

i also tried sending balls from irc-tipbot to wallet and i received it so looks like im on the right chain

damn, i missed the christmas trivia, could have made some balls

My "old" wallet was staking until i began to move my BALLS to my new wallet's address. My old wallet was on windows 8.1 and my new one is on OSX 10.10. I don't think there will be a staking problem after my coins reach their 24 hours.

Most of you just reached the max coinage of your big amounts in your wallets, that's all. Wink

Last night I sent my MMXIV and BALLS to new wallet/addresses. The staking arrow turned green on them both about the 24th hour. After 24.3 hours the MMXIV stakes some coins since I have a good amounts of coins compared to the network weight. Since I only have a small amount of BALLS it is showing that it will stake in 3 days. Since BALLS is built off of MMXIV code and they are both acting the same so I'm sure my BALLS should start to stake again once it gets more network weight. I would have thought that after 26 hours my network weight should be at least more then the coins in my wallet.

Yes, they act very similar

Im going to follow you here. It really just makes me wonder why in the same exact hour everyone hit the max coin age with all their coins. So can users send all their coins to themselves? Will that reset coin age?

Also I have 477,00 coins and stake weight is 0. So that means suddenly ALL my coins have reached 30 days at the same hour?

Vegas

Your stake weight is 640k. Your balance should be 0, though, since you lost the bet.  Wink

@iGotSpots - In your opinion in a +24 hours after reset coin age, everything returns to normal?

Yep. Even if you don't stake for 50 hours, you start accumulating coinage at 24, which increases rewards once you do finally stake

Ok @iGotSpots. Thanks. I already have 25 hours from when I reset coins age. "Expected time to earn reward is 2 hours". Waiting to see how things will develop in the coming hours. I'll keep you posted. Stay tuned.

Thanks, I think I got it now... No matter when I move the coins I will only lose 24 hours of staking on any balance regardless of coin age.....do I got it right now?

I LOVE SNOWBALLS....Happy Boxing day to you Smiley

Correct. Worst case scenario is 24 hours lost (max). Even if you don't stake until hour 50, you start earning coinage at hour 24

For what's it worth, here is an image of my Snowballs. Thing have definitely flat lined on my end. I was going to buy more Snowballs but I think I'll wait till the snow looks white again. I'm hopeful things will work out. My initial beta investment of SBalls was on December 10th based on a the recommendation found on Vegas' sight. Ill be watching.

Network stake weight is already up 25% since that screenshot. If you are positive your coins are under 30 days of staking, I highly suggest not moving them or you will reset your coinage

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.. I say its worth 467,000 balls... enjoy. My address is: SMnkDm9BGY6oRTGcQUyL7R6DQ3td8LubMK

EVERY pos coin does NOT list POW difficulty, NOT 1 . I even checked MMXIV, that lists difficulty as 3. THIS is the problem.

Vegas

MMXIV was indeed 3 difficulty while mining since the reward was 0 and I was mining it alone to move blocks, making nothing

You lost. Send me the coins or everyone know you're a liar that is full of shit  Wink

http://balls.blockexplorer.cc/chain/Snowballs

Check the difficulty tab yourself

ouch vegas just lost it all lol

He won't send them, I'm sure. It's ok, though, nobody that bets me ever does  Wink

While You chatted, problem remains. Those problems reported here are a few to hundreds of thousands and only together they have already + 1 million coins. There is no more nor less. So it must be considered as such this situation. Dev must consider the situation. it is not an isolated phenomenon. It's not about a few thousand coin wallet. I ask respectfully that besides waiting to see what happens the hours that followed, to seriously look at this situation by dev. We are all members of this coin, and that we should get along common interest and we treat as such. Sorry for my english.

Ok, I looked again. Blocks are still being found

Regarding the difficulty I found something in debug:

22:39:20

getdifficulty

22:39:20

{
"proof-of-work" 1113085.62605412,
"proof-of-stake": 0.10477888,
"search-interval": 1
}

Exactly. Thanks  Wink

Believe it or not, I do have some idea of what I'm doing after being here for nearly 2 years

Please explain.

I never changed anything. It just stopped staking when I hit Chritmas. Im not trying to be difficult or fud, but I just cant ignore all these users saying that they are not staking past Christmas. Ill note , it worked PERFECT until 1am December 25th, AND ill guarantee everyone who is having problems stopped staking within an hour or two of that time. There IS a fault in the wallet. Please dev, take another look.

ok ive been on balls since day 1. I MINED it day 1. I did the rollar coaster thing from 5000% -10,000% then back to 1000% and this is the first time Im hearing of "monthly reset"? Is this a hidden feature? This coin has worked flawless since day one without my intervention. Is there something now I need to do?

Vegas

What exactly would you like me to look at while blocks are being found as normal? I've looked and see no problems. 12 blocks have been found since your post

The 30 days is in OP

Quote
Proof of Stake at 1000% yearly yield 24h / 30d

 I understand the 30 day reset but follow me for a second....

Date      Deposit     Max Coin Age   Staked coin Max age   Move coins to reset age
Nov 1    55000        Dec 1st           Jan 1                       Jan 1
Nov 7    22500        Dec 7              Jan 7                       Jan 7
Nov 10  20000        Dec 10             Jan 10                     Jan 10
Nov 18  17000        Dec 18             Jan 18                     Jan 18
Nov 23  26000        Dec 23             Jan 23                     Jan 23
Dec 2    25000        Jan 2               Feb 2                      Feb 2
Dec 12   25000       Jan 12              Feb 12                    Feb 12
Dec 19   30000       Jan 19              Feb 19                    Feb 19
Dec 20  30000        Jan 20              Feb 20                    Feb 20
Dec 22  30000        Jan 22              Feb 22                    Feb 22
Dec 24  20000        Jan 24              Feb 24                    Feb 24

If I wait for all coins in the wallet to reach max coin age I would lose 60+ days of staking on my first Nov 1 deposit.

These coins would have to wait without staking until the Dec 24th coin deposit and the staked value reached max coin age on or about Feb 24 in order to move the entire balance to reset coin age for all coins in wallet.
(No coin control)

If I move my balance after the first 60 days (30 days for original and 30 for staked coins on original), I would lose 60 + days of staking on my Dec deposits.

If this is how it is working, there are only 2 choices: Keep a separate wallet address for each deposit, Suck it up and lose 60+ days of coin interest.

Please let me know if this is accurate and if it is PLEASE put coin control in next release.

Coin control will not be added to BALLS. It would compromise the way we control inflation. I suggest moving coins all at once then add to the same address as you buy more. The maturity is only 24 hours, so even if you move coins that are staking, you are only losing one day max on a very small sliver of your stash. It's a minor inconvenience for a very effective system of inflation control

So does that mean that every time I deposit to the same address it resets the entire wallet coin balance age and starts staking as a whole balance 24 hours later?

No. Each deposit is on its own timer. I personally reset EVERY coin I have each month at the same yime, just to consolidate, even if some of the smaller deposits are only a few days old

Thanks, I think I got it now... No matter when I move the coins I will only lose 24 hours of staking on any balance regardless of coin age.....do I got it right now?

I LOVE SNOWBALLS....Happy Boxing day to you Smiley
