Gotcha.  Thanks Smiley

According to Con the problem is now resolved. I didn't test it since I am not at work.
I created an image 1.4.4 (experimental) with latest cgminer, you can test and see if it works for you (remember to rm /mnt/config/etc/bin/cgminer).

My errors are much lower as well. Ambient is pretty warm right now, sure I can get more hash overnight when the temps drop.

After ~4 hours running with zvisha's fix my error rate is reading as 0.66% down from a 9-13% range.

I used to get 1.42TH at the miner and ~1.26-1.31TH at the pool
Now i get ~1.38TH at the miner and 1.33-1.37 TH at the pool (eligius)

I am loving the quality of both the hardware and the team behind it!  (my only ongoing issue is that it is freakin' loud - but I bought knowing that it would be)

1.4.3 is best firmware up to this date! My miners saw a decrease in the miner speed, but an increase at pool (same eligius, BTCGuild doesn't seem to recover from the bad luck)

Thank you zvi and klondike_bar!

ASIC Wannabe
The "Spondoolies hero of the day" medal goes to user Klondike_bar, for discovering a problem of high error rate on his machine. We released a fix (1.4.3) that should bring the HW error rate down from ~8% to 2%.

Please update ASAP and let me know if the fix works.

my HW errors on firmware version 1.4.2 settled down to about 5%

I will try 1.4.3 and report back tomorrow with results.

thanks zvisha and klondike_bar

BTW, what did klondike_bar discover?

His machine had exceptionally high error rate of over 10%. I have error rate of about 3-4%. He let me use his machine to understand the situation, and I found out that the fix for his machine improves HW errors in all my machines too. It is the way I use BIST to find optimal point, the BIST I did was too weak for many ASICs.

Hi Spondoolies-Tech,

Do you have an estimate about when you have the SP10 back in stock?

~ Luc

No more SP10s. The future is SP30!

To infinty and beyond!

Ok, Con knows of the issue, it will be fixed soon.
For now use previous version for p2p.

Did the 1.4.2 firmware update do something to disable mining on p2pool?  I have updated, and now my SP10 will not connect to ANY p2pool node.  I can connect to Eligius, BTCGuild, GHash, etc.  My local p2pool node?  No.  Any other p2pool node?  No.  Before anyone asks... yes, my local node is up.  I can confirm this because my 2 S1s are happily hashing away on it.  I have also pointed those two to another p2pool node and they hashed there as well.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Zvisha.  I tried 1.4.3, and it also does not see any p2pool node.  I'll go back to 1.3.49 until a fix can be made.

You can ssh to system and type "cp /etc/bin/cgminer /etc/bin/cgminer.good" in 1.3.49, then do sw upgrade, then ssh and type "cp /etc/bin/cgminer.good /etc/bin/cgminer". But this will make your cgminer "non upgradable" in the future so you will have to factory reset once the issue is resolved.

This is how unionfs works, you can google about unionfs if you want. Our /etc is under unionfs.
To make my cgminer "upgradable" could I do this:
Code:
ssh [email protected]
cp /etc/bin/cgminer /etc/bin/cgminer.1.3.49
upgrade to 1.4.3
cp /etc/bin/cgminer /etc/bin/cgminer.1.4.3
cp /etc/bin/cgminer.1.3.49 /etc/bin/cgminer
Then, when the next firmware version comes out that addresses the p2pool issue do this:
Code:
ssh [email protected]
cp /etc/bin/cgminer /etc/bin/cgminer.1.3.49
cp /etc/bin/cgminer.1.4.3 /etc/bin/cgminer
upgrade to 1.x.x
So, I'd have to "proper" version of cgminer when I do the upgrade?

If we have "touch" in image it is enough to "touch /etc/bin/cgminer" to make it unupgradable.
To make it upgradable again you have to do "rm /mnt/config/etc/bin/cgminer".
