I am the one who knocks
I have had great experience with USPS in U.S. and FedEx for Global and U.S.
Sometimes we go UPS, but usually its USPS or FedEx for us.

Tracking is crap with USPS (at least that past couple of times I have used them), as a consumer I prefer UPS/FedEX however not at a great cost (for that benifit only)

Hi Dave, Are you using USPS for shipping?
Its not determined yet.  I tend not to use USPS in favor of UPS/FedEx.  We are working on getting a good price for standard shipping (which is free), but also an affordable option for people to upgrade to expedited.  I expect about 90% of orders will want to get it in a day or two - every extra day mining will easily justify that cost.

My suggestion:

UPS for US deliveries.
USPS for International deliveries.
Thanks for the suggest  Syke - we'll look into USPS for International.  I was considering DHL Global

I will be sending all shipments as signature required.  I think its prudent to choose an insured shipment, but it does add significant cost.  If the poll shows that we have equal desire for under-insured vs full insured, then I'll just put up a combo that suits everyone - it will add some overhead for our shipping team though and that will cost.

1) August 400GH fullkit is ~$19k & October 400GH is $8k.  But August and October 25GH are both $1.3k.  Why is the 400GH at >50% discount for Oct but the 25GH has the same price as Aug?

The August 25GH kit price was an introductory price set to peak interest in the product. It then sold out in less than 24 hours. If the October 25GH kit were then to be priced at a large discount over the August 25GH kit, it too would sell out extremely quickly.

Hi buzzdave,

i am sorry if this was already discussed but i couldnt find an exact response so hoping you can clarify again.

1) August 400GH fullkit is ~$19k & October 400GH is $8k.  But August and October 25GH are both $1.3k.  Why is the 400GH at >50% discount for Oct but the 25GH has the same price as Aug?

2) Per the website:
- 25 GH = 16 chips & 400 GH = 16*16 = 256 chips ->  they both average ~1.5GH per chip.
- But the chip page states 2.7 GH per chip.

Does that mean the 25 GH full kit's real hashrate is ~43GH(2.7 * 16), and the 400GH is ~691 GH(2.7 * 256)?

3) Are the inventory numbers for the Oct fullkits accurate? right now it shows a 378 unit left for the 400GH, if all 378 gets sold will they all be delivered in Oct?

Thanks, i like how this is not dependent on avalon and already has asic chips in hand.

based on demand much more demand for the 25G kits then for the full 40G miners. pricing is based on demonstrated demand and presale volume/speed

Nice! Anxiously waiting for bitpay  Grin

Somebody already had the idea to just run an order through as Bank Transfer, and mark on the order that they will pay with bitcoins.  I totally support this if you want to stake a claim to your spot.  For these orders, my sales team will just contact you directly for payment...its good incentive for me to get the BitPay gateway working.

Please don't abuse it - place an order for the number of units you intend to pay for.  Keep in mind that I can't spot the BTC price at the exact time you placed the order - but I will set BTC at Daily (High+Low)/2 on the day you purchased, according to http://bitcoincharts.com/charts.

You can't compare 1300US starter kit with 500US H-board.  You are going to do by yourself not easy to do then say it.

***LOW STOCK WARNING***

I've got an accurate stock count for July 10pc Cut Tape stock.  I will have 210 chips left after I ship the current orders (stock arrives in a few days).  If you want chips this may be your last chance until October.  Tytus will use the remaining chips for production boards...

Is there a source for the bare pcb?

The bare pcb could be bought anywhere with the eagle files buzzdave spoke of earlier. Seems like one pile of soldering of tiny components though, outside of my skill set.

I am half tempted to try something like http://www.adafruit.com/products/1377 and breadboard it, but I think I will use the $250 chips for playing around, rather than the $1300 ones.

yeah, you're right, after running some figures through the calculators it was a lot less appealing.

I like that breadboard though.   Cool

Agreed.  I'd be willing to DIY, but don't feel comfortable chalking up a $130 loss per qfn casualty.

Are you implying any unsold chips will be used to make new stock of August 25GH kits available?

BTC Mining Hardware, Trading and more

Iam going to order a few for test purposes , but only single chips heat sinks with dimensions of ~10x10x5mm for mounting with 3m pads.

Dont know if it makes sense to make a whole heat sink plate?

If yes, i could propably design such a plate.

regards

You could go that route but I am thinking that there may be better performance to be had using a full card heatsink of what 96x96x18mm or something?  I suppose that would be overkill unless you were changing voltage regs.

The problem with this is there is only very little space between the boards with standard Hboard, 20mm without parts and you have to be very carefully so that the heat sinks does not block the air flow.
Very hard to design a full heat sink card without having a fully populated board at hand and measure all dimensions of parts and so on.

regards

EDIT:
Also another thing we have to take into account is that the boards start to wobble inside the connector when the fans blow at them(got that info from alpha testers), so when using heat sinks in my opinion it is absolutly necessary to fix every board in a housing so single board cant move inside the slot.
