Im pretty sure dave refunded the difference between the old and new october prices.  I'm not sure if anyone had ordered the h-boards before he raised those prices but I suspect that the count was small enough that Dave has grandfathered them.

/cet

I reduced prices back down after only two order had hit.  In one case he got an extra H-board, in the other, he got refunded the difference.

Has it been clearly stated if purchased in BTC ... if refunded... would be refunded in USD?  I assume so, but I didn't see it stated (actually I am lazy and didn't look because I am lazy Grin)

Please check OP for refund policy thanks

Thanks Dave... Glossed right over it with a second reading even.  Found it though... And as expected, USD denominated refund for BTC purchases. Works for me.

Can't wait for btc to rise so I can order a miner from you!

Is there a datasheet available for these chips?  I'm looking to start a board design that will push them a bit harder than the c-scape board.

Not so much a formal datasheet just yet.  I can provide pinouts and files for the test adapter that will give you instructions enough to get it going and overclock the chip.  There are also resources that are blogging/posting about their work:

Hi Dave,
If you could provide the schematic section for the H-board power supply it would be very useful for those looking into overclocking.

H-board regulator is this part Texas Instruments TPS53355.  You can use it to OC the chips, but on the H-board 16 chips will max this thing out at .8v or so.

Thanks Dave. Is the standard reference design used as per the datasheet? I guess what I'd like to determine is which resistor to adjust, and the math which determines the output voltage (based on the formulas in the datasheet).

I'm enjoying the idea that this all should force BFL's hand to make price changes. Even BFL's vouchers will be of little use with the intro of this product for it's price. If you guys can truly hit that efficiency target, then pressure will really be on them. Trying to think in a business perspective, I am curious how they will respond. We already saw them react to Avalon.

I think BFL has burned lots of bridges and continue to burn them.  I know I'll avoid them no matter the deal they offer.  Slow product delivery and poor customer service makes for a doomed company even if they were once the market leader.

So buzzdave, just to double check, refunds are possible before units ship right?

Yes refunds are available.  If we plan to change the 100% refund policy we would give everyone time to consider before dropping a bomb on you.

Wonderful, it is reassuring to know that if you decide to break FTC regulations you will let everyone know before doing so.

Your response left me feeling a little uneasy.

Does that mean we can expect about 38 GH/s per H-board @ ~30W overclocking with the stock hardware, given adequate cooling?

Dave, is Tom involved in any of this?

No not in any way.  The chip design is Bitfury, who teamed up with Tytus to fund the NRE.

I think the only statement was that you would get a refund.

Can anyone (Or Dave) figure out the distance between mounted H-Boards?

I'm trying to figure out the standoff size.

can give you the measurements you needs, currently designing a housing for it so if have got them.

hboard distance is 20mm

Hmmm...

I'm not sure how you calculated this, but my rough estimation is around the same number. Here is how I am guessing, please tell me if I made a mistake as my method is kinda rough.

I looked at the schematic earlier in the thread. Took 164mm, counted 8 slots (from the right side of the board), figured the distance between each slot looked to be about the same dimensions as the slots themselves and calculated (164/16 = 10.25). Then consider the measurement we want is the distance from middle of the slot to the next middle of the slot (minus the thickness the PCB) = 20.5 mm

So, are the PCBs .5mm thick?

If we're right and it is 20mm, that's great. However, if it's 19.75 or 20.25, after stacking 16 of these there will be problems.

silly question, what's the point of selling the chips alone if no one has the board to put them on?

Some people, who have the knowledge and skill required, like to design their own miners around bare chips.

July bare chip buyers: we are starting shipping soon.  Tytus will be shipping them to me Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.  I ordered enough from Tytus to handle a few extra orders of the 10 pc cut tape for July, but not too many.

For bare chip buyers, we provide design files for Bitfury's single chip test adapter, which has schematics and instructions, as well as the reference design for the M & H boards we sell.

Cheers,
Dave

if bitfury's asic chips are already shipping, why is noone offering design/assembly services for those asic chips and instead all crowded over the avalon chips which is still in hope & dream mode given their shady track record.  Dont understand.

Looks like there are still plenty chips available for july shipment, i would buy them if someone can assemble them as i dont have the expertise.

It's just strange so many people and investment are made on the avalon chips yet this asic chip is ready now and shipping but noone seem to care.

Why?

Because the bitfury thing came up pretty quick and every of the devs has to finish their avalon design
