Thanks for running that I'm not at a machine with Sync on it. I bolded the part that everybody wants to know

Just run the same request, same results. Is that all we need to know?

raskul still needs the private key

Why do you keep messing with your credibility by posting snarky responses? Don't we have enough problems? New code coming! Great! Should maybe leave it at that?

Very true!

Here is the fix:
https://github.com/MsCollec/sync/commit/150f9518586c6cd82d316e85ae0928abc71189e8

Please review and comment it. I cannot test it, so it should be checked very carefully before it is in effect.
Fork time is set at 2.6.2014 18:00 , but we can change it if you all prefer some other time.

Outstanding - it's great to see someone actually doing something constructive!

While it appears that this fix is aimed at staking issues with small amounts, I believe that more fixes are needed. In order for any kind of recovery to be possible, wallet operation will need to be flawless. It cannot be accompanied by any of the following:

  • Wait until syncing gets stuck at block 8200 and restart the wallet
  • If you try to restart the wallet too soon after you've closed it (before threads have had a chance to exit), you will see a nasty system message about permissions
  • If syncing gets stuck, navigate to \Users\[login]\AppData\Roaming\Sync and delete blah blah blah
  • Go to the same folder and insert this bootstrap.dat file

All of the above erode confidence. I wish I contribute actual coding instead of just advice, but it's all I have.

Not true. Block 0 is often referred to as the genesis block for many coins. Bitcoin generated it on Jan 3rd 2009.

https://blockchain.info/block-index/14849

Block 1 was found 6 days later

https://blockchain.info/block/00000000839a8e6886ab5951d76f411475428afc90947ee320161bbf18eb6048

Regardless of anything, its crazy what those first blocks have influenced.

i just want to know that the massive investment I (and many others) have made in this coin, is safe.
we deserve to know what is in block 0.

thank you.

I can second this request it should be known by the community

you can search the block chain cant you? i did that at the start and there were 0 coins in block 0

http://explorer.synclub.net/block-height/2
http://explorer.synclub.net/block-height/3
http://explorer.synclub.net/block-height/95

all with coins...

http://explorer.synclub.net/block-height/0

it's hidden mate, it's not showing 0 SYNC, it's showing an amateur 404 error (a redirect to /unavailable)

Raskul, come on, stop the FUD
The blockchain doesn't start with block 0, it starts with 1

And for a reference look at other coins, lets say LTC

Do you see a block here?
http://ltc.blockr.io/block/info/0

And here?
http://ltc.blockr.io/block/info/1

Does LTC has a hidden block?

Not true. Block 0 is often referred to as the genesis block for many coins. Bitcoin generated it on Jan 3rd 2009.

Its been speculated that during those 6 days Satoshi was testing a number of things and may have even discarded some mined chains before starting again at Block 1.

But as it relates to this coin...there does appear to be a block 0 that is hidden from view. Its hash value (which you can see by looking at block 1) is:

Hard Fork time is set at 2.6.2014 18:00 , since it's a mandatory update you have to compile a new wallet.

You guys have to contact FaSan so that he can switch the explorer to the latest source and move it to a new server since im shutting down my server.

Hi!

I'm not an original dev of this coin, but I have been helping, as you might have noticed.

There is a fix already done, I will push it to github tonight. As someone noted, the source code is public, so you all can review the code. Actually, I hope you do, because these kind of changes on a live coin are risky. The more eyes check it, the better.

You (or I) don't need the priv keys for fixing the coin.

The root cause of the problem is integer math, which will end up with 0 with small coins at these coin parameters.

The hard fork time is planned to be 2.6 18.00 GMT (or whatever the blockchain tz is), but if you all vote for earlier or later time, it can still be changed.

I have noticed your name in the changeset, which made me wondering if a previous FUD was real or not. But since you post here i do believe the FUD was a real FUD Smiley
Great to see someone doing bugfixes!

About the current bug, it is just blocking wallets sometimes?

It rounds stakes with too small coins to 0. Very understandable error; the parameters has changed a lot; max coins down to 1000 and max stake in 3 days.

But here is the good news; as a side effect, at the transition time, the algorithm will share stakes generously, until the retarget algorithm rises the difficulty.. (which can, unfortunately, happen quite quickly) so keep your wallets open!

Block 0 WTF is that Huh

you should really have a little more knowledge about cryptocurrency if you are launching a coin.
sorry, but pleading ignorance makes you look criminal.

please release the private key so that my developer may look at block 0.
I will then reassure the community that block 0 is empty - if it is indeed empty.

respond by PM if you are confident that we will find nothing in block 0.

Please show me where in that fix it mentions anything about block 0, cause I sure as hell dont see it! I see change in staking, and thats it.

swerving the issue is not assuring anyone. all I am asking is for simple reassurance that block 0 is an empty block

i care about this issue, as do others.

block 0 contains 1 transaction: a87d9a593e3e65e96f44be39270e0d0e604e26f1fd567d72306579f3f34c19dd
this transaction is not readable by the client. (and the block-explorer will just always show 404 whenever the daemon sends an error, like for this transaction inside the block).
