How does the bootstrap work in general? I've extracted the bootstrap folder to where the wallet application is held. Nothing changed when I open the wallet though.

I think I've sorted the wallet issue. 
You have to delete everything except the "wallet.dat" in the directory. Extract the bootstrap to that folder and then start the program.
Put the bootstrap into the folder that only has the wallet.dat file in. Don't start the QTprogram until you've done this. If you load the QT file, then put the bootstrap in it later on it just gets hung up and wont load (no idea why).

I have a masternode installed on a linux server and have a windows based wallet. I may be wrong however it seems that when I close the wallet the masternode services are in an offline state. Is there anyway to avoid having to constantly run a wallet to run the masternode service without interruption? I know the config works as I have been paid. thanks

Dont even bother with the v.3 Linux wallet. It wont sync. Wait till v.4 comes out shortly.

Looks like you can not enter your passphrase within the console. You need to unlock the wallet with in the GUI first. Not a big deal. I am able to run commands now. thx
I have been reading up on this project and thought I would get a wallet set up. The wallet is fully synced and when I go into the console to verify if the password works and that I can run commands I get the following error.
Error: RPC server was not started, use server=1 to change this. (code -18)
Any thoughts? Other wallets I have don't show this error. I have even closed those wallets and left this one running by itself with the same end result. Many thanks.

I almost finished sorting the stuff of all sorts out and getting my life in order. I'm used to thorough fact checking and know how to put together and verify all pieces of the puzzle before performing analysis on unstable fragments and microparts. If I was u I would immediately close the dialog channel with ur counterparts and stopped responding in this thread.

If its separate I can just replace the files within the .amsterdam2 folder as I did with an older bootstrap and see if that works.

EDIT 2: Bootstrapped it to 12 weeks behind... anyone got a more recent one to, like, today?

I thought I'd got out of the woods with that bootstrap. Its not even loading the blocks from the bootstrap!
I've placed it in .amsterdamcoin2 folder and they're no bottlenecks on the system slowing it down. the wallet just doesn't want to sync.
EDIT: I checked the bootstrap and it was converted into bootstrap/old but the wallet is still on block 1057281 (12 weeks behind).
