No risk, no fun!
Kees,

I am impressed and happy to see the usage of XEVAN algo. I am buying like a monster AMS now. You find the right balance between the technical high end stuff and a healthy growth of this coin with the community.

Dev, you should contact coryvmcs1 or whatever his name was, he posted here. They edited the source somehow to make it work for the pool, contact them maybe?

I decided to create a new Amsterdamcoin based on the current Bitcoin code. Lean and mean without PoS or masternodes. Keeping in mind the goal of this coin as payment option. Lots of things were already done for Bitcoin and thats where we profit. I think thats the best way to go.

Please let me know if anyone has a better idea.

In the last month several PoW only coins were victims of 51% attacks and double spend attacks.  These were coins with considerable value to make it worth renting the hashing power to perform the attacks.  So, if the new coin does not have the difficulty of BTC or LTC, you will need to deal with a threat that is not dealt with even in the newer code base of Bitcoin.

Choose your coin algo wisely, but even CPU only algos will be GPU mine-able someday and that is when the 51% attacks will come, after you have worked hard to build up the value of the coin.

Hybrids do have advantages, with or without Masternodes.

Plan for the future and make a PoS coin. Give up the PoW religious nonsense. It works for only the biggest coins, and isn't necessary for chain security. It is great for distribution because it is "fair" but shitty for chain security.

Look how many PoW coins got hacked. Even the WBB dev said at some point that WBB would NEVER be PoS. Now they have to go to PoS and he has to eat his religious words.

Do the right thing and go with PoS from the start. The PoW religious fanatics hate the suggestion, but they are delusional and shouldn't be listened to.

After 180 days of mining there will be only PoS and Masternodes. Please read the new coin specifications (as also posted above)

  • Algorithm XEVAN (PoW and Spork messages)
  • 60 seconds block time
  • Difficulty retarget every block (Kimoto gravity well v3)

I think we better go with something which has master nodes.

Master node purchases may boost the coin sales huge. I would rather go as a DASH or PIVX clone instead of Bitcoin.

As the poll points out for now we will be using PIVX

With or without the see-saw rewards?

Yes it will have Seesaw. Specifications will be:

  • Algorithm XEVAN (PoW and Spork messages)
  • 60 seconds block time
  • Difficulty retarget every block (Kimoto gravity well v3)
  • 100.000 AMS masternode collateral
  • Darksend (Obfuscation)
