Sorry to report that I am discontinuing BlakeTrader, ElectronTips twitter tipbot, and financial support for the BLC/ELT/PHO cryptocoinexplorer explorers.

BlakeTrader website and transaction servers will be taken down by the end of August. It may still work until then, but please stop sending trades. It may or may not work and I will not provide any support. Same goes with electrontips.

My sponsorship for CCE will run until the end of the month as well. At that point, the community will have to decide what to do with the explorers.

Unfortunately, I just don't have the time and resources to support the 3 services. I will continue to run nodes for the clients and support the pool.

Hope you get your pipes and driveway sorted out with out too much headache or expense, such things can be expensive and endlessly frustrating. Excited to hear about the wallet upgrade. Not that there's anything wrong with the current one, its stable and does what its supposed to. However there's been a lot improvements in btc codebase that Blakecoin could benefit from. Will it also be an upgrade to QT5 for the GUI? If you need beta tester let me know.

new pipes are installed and I have water/gas again but the driveway atm is unusable/rubble pile

cost wise both water and gas are on mains side and not had a repair since moved here so its a "free" fix but the digging has created some structural issues and some cracks have formed in garage and on one wall which will cost me  Cry

overall its a total headache thats for sure  Embarrassed

yeah QT5 should be the same build chain as the current BTC code base and yes will need to test before release so will give you a shout, will also need to test with one of the pools make sure it is creating blocks right for BLC and later also working right for aux chains once confirmed working will be able to switch all nodes over (somewhere inbetween will also need to contact and inform the exchanges make sure no issues with them too)

anyways for now just going to keep calm and carry on   Cool

thought this would be dead already
Why would it be?

no volume, no news...

exchanges dropped it mostly

network and pools running fine so you are just trolling  Undecided

not aware of any exchanges dropping in fact more exchanges taking BLC now than 6-9 months ago  Roll Eyes

I agree with Sid most "news" from other coins is Hype/Propaganda something I am not keen on unless there is something to actually back claims!
exchange volume for most coins is manipulated bs and has no real meaning apart from someone spending on fees

funny getting FUD spread by another coin dev  Shocked  I dont do that nor do I go awol been here whole time  Cheesy

Boring News:
been dealing with some stuff irl that has taken much more of my time than it should have but it is mostly done now *water mains leak fix created gas mains leak to fix they ripped up most of my driveway which now has more holes than swiss cheese oh joy  Cry

BlakeZone is currently stalled as I have been working on side projects 3 progressing and 2 stalled *Unity 5.4 finally got released been testing and looking at it past few days (much faster but a few api changes)

done some work on the new wallet based on 12.x code base for both BLC and Merged coins, aux needs more work so no rush for release thinking September/October time but could be later depending on side projects, BlakeZone, stuff irl *and the fact my estimations are always far too optimistic  Wink

I believe the news you are looking for is called hype, unfortunately you will not find hype here!  Wink
There have been updates just flip back through the forum.

BLC is currently listed on 5 exchanges  Cool

I enjoy the low volume, shakes out the weak hands.  Kiss

sorry not going to hype the side projects or give too many detail publicly until they start alpha and the invites go out

side projects = multiplayer and casual games 5 in the works but 3 progressing and 2 stalled

currently been dealing with some stuff irl so progress is bit slow  Cry

Any plan to hav BLC in Poloniex or other platform Huh

Any one knows if BLC will e listed in Poloniex??

I think that is unlikely any time soon  Undecided

for now its just:

Exchanges

BlakeTrader allows trading of Blakecoin directly with other Blake family coins
www.blaketrader.com

Bittrex allows trading of Blakecoin
www.bittrex.com

Cryptomic allows trading of Blakecoin
www.cryptomic.com

Cryptopia allows trading of Blakecoin
www.cryptopia.co.nz

AskCoin allows trading of Blakecoin
askcoin.net

Your more than welcome to get BLC listed on "Poloniex or other platform" if you want  Cheesy

did not get much done over weekend still working on the new alpha tier and also need to do the forums for side projects and terms of use

closer but not there yet  Cheesy

I grasp enough to guess this might be great at hashing blake-256, but am wondering if anyone can estimate how it would compare to GPU/FPGA for performance/efficiency? I see no indication of price or availability, so its purely an intellectual exercise for now.

http://vcl.ece.ucdavis.edu/pubs/2016.06.vlsi.symp.kiloCore/2016.vlsi.symp.kiloCore.pdf

GPU is easier to do as we can estimate the MIMD performance based on FLOPS

Adapteva Epiphany 28nm MIMD 64 CPUs does @ 1GHz ~2 GFLOPS Compute
KiloCore 32nm MIMD 1000 CPUs @ 1.78GHz *estimate ~ 56 GFLOPS Compute (1 trillion IPS @ 13.1 W or 115 billion IPS @ 0.7 W) **might be able to get better estimate if converted IPS to FLOPS  Cheesy
AMD RX 480 (Polaris) 14nm @ 1.266Ghz ~ 5.8 TFLOPS Compute
Nvidia 1080 (Pascal) 16nm @ 1.683GHz ~ 8.9 TFLOPS Compute

FPGA might beat GPU in watt/hash but to scale cost of ownership is currently imho with GPU Rigs

**AMD RX 470 looks good for cost ~ 5 TFLOPS @ ~$150 6 card rig ~ 30 TFLOPS ~$900 + Mboard/Ram/CPU/PSU *estimate about 18GH/s+ using somewhere between 550w-700w
***AMD RX 480 or Nvidia 1080/1070 all cost more and if looking at TFLOPS/$ then imho AMD RX 470 might be sweet spot assuming multi GPU mining rigs and a retail price of $150 per card but time will tell waiting on real world 3rd party reviews (power use/performance/retail cost)  Cheesy

Current benchmark for Nvidia 1080 hashing 8 round Blake-256
Current benchmark for AMD RX 480 hashing 8 round Blake-256
Current quad FPGA(45nm) board hashing 8 round Blake-256 is using about 27W doing 1.4GH/s-1.5GH/s ~325W for 18GH/s as a comparison to the GPU's power use (+watts for PC hosting the FPGA cluster)

dont forget also when we are looking at power use a good efficient PSU can make all the difference as none are 100% most 80%-90% so at wall power use can vary

wishful thinking  Cheesy

I do have the OSVR plugin on my unity account so could add support to blakezone so will check out what you need to qualify *can already add VR support to current client but I do suspect frame rate could be dire due to extra rendering of cameras and unity core is still weak on multi threading so wip on engine side still!  Shocked

only issue I have with VR is there is no clear leader and many gamers just dont have the same headsets(if any) so you could spend alot of time on support and the current market size is today tiny although hyped and growing  Undecided

one thing that is cool is lower price of ownership with that headset regardless of any developer fund for content creators ($5M is not a lot they could easy blow that on a couple of big titles/studios adding support)

Quote
"an Ubisoft executive gave a breakdown of the company's average development costs per game - with a DS title costing between 500,000 to 1,000,000 euros ($785,000-$1.57m), PS3/Xbox 360/PC titles averaging 12 million to 18 million euros ($18.8m-$28.2m) to create for all 3 SKUs"

Quote from: Sierra founder Ken Williams argues that high production costs hinder risk taking and video game innovation.
Here’s the problem as I see it: Production values have risen to a level that games are starting to cost $3 million to $10 million to produce. Double this amount to get the true cost to a company, by the time they promote and manufacture the product. At this level, companies can’t afford to take chances on defining new categories.

Project Scorpio is targeting VR and is reported to have 6 Teraflops(AMD SoC), this is a refresh of xbox one and is supposed to make win 10 DX12 titles easy to port  Cheesy
